I love that movie, and that scene. ha ha.

it affects the whole country.

https://downdetector.com/status/verizon/

I got got off the phone with Verizon, and they said the issue started on Aug 28 where some phones got a network update that limits their ability to connect to the towers. He's making a ticket with the network team to bridge from the tower to our iphone to push the network software update.

I guess many phones can't connect to get the update to fix their last bad configuration.

I hope it gets resolved soon.

Re:Verizon down for users across the US on Saturday August 30, 2025 @05:53PM (#45078318)
my iphone 16 pro works, but wife's iphone 14 pro is "sos only" mode.

we tried the full reset (volume up/down/side button hold) and network reset, which is not helping.

Both my and her phone have same cellular data settings.

tried calling '611' verizon help line which dumps us saying "the system is down" unable to take calls.

it's a big outage for sure.

Re:Lightning Detector Circuits on Monday July 14, 2025 @01:35PM (#44562934)
Has anyone used dark color 3D filament printed onto copper clad PCB as photo resist or etch resist?

It might be tricky printing PLA directly to copper clad PCB, but then you could expose the board to UV or etchant to make the PCB traces. Then remove the PLA plastic to expose the copper traces.

I like the UI and cute idea, nice animation. great way to learn xor $FF haha.

I love their pricing options include larger ranges of numbers, and enterprise class also includes negative numbers. ha ha.

I didn't realize this was the same creator of the tiny LED matrix earrings. I love the attention to detail in the work and the article. Super interesting!

Re:Reverse Engineering for Everyone on Thursday July 25, 2024 @12:59PM (#41070859)
It seems like a high-level overview, good for somebody new to the topic.

It also linked to this resource, which was more in depth... https://github.com/mytechnotalent/Reverse-Engineering

EDIT: Whoops... it looks like it mostly links back to the original article.

I would use a variable power supply, amp meter and some sacrificial fuses. Slowly turn up the voltage while watching amps on the circuit until it blows? Or simply apply the rated amps (with current controlled power supply) to verify if/when the fuse blows.

I have a multiple-fuse assortment kit that was a great (too good?) deal from AliExpress. Now I'm thinking I need to do some of those tests myself to verify their rating.

I used Eye-Fi for several years and enjoyed it. There was some opensource software to use it on a private LAN.

Searching 'wifi sdcard' and I found several vendors still making those cards, but I haven't used any of the newer ones.

Re:ESP32 Drum Synth Machine on Thursday May 09, 2024 @01:37PM (#40310687)
This is a nice example of using ESP32 and Arduino.

Thanks for sharing the details of your project!

20,000 amps

200,000 electrical contacts

850,000 cores

and that's the "old" one. wow.

A recent Hacker Box has a detailed example with ESP32 and Tensor Flow Lite and Edge Impulse.

I was imagining something like MotionEYE OS https://github.com/motioneye-project/motioneyeos/wiki

Where I would download the sdram binary image and flash with Balena then boot on the Pi.

Great work anyway! It was a nice opportunity to read up on Nim language too.

please elaborate on which licenses and certifications they have. Can I confirm those credentials, how will I know if they are industry recognized and respected instead of your own in-house certification.

A few years ago I switched to KiCad https://www.kicad.org/

It's worked well for me, and can use libraries from Digikey and open source contributors.

Re:Live.com Is Down on Wednesday June 07, 2023 @11:34AM (#36228182)
it seems many services were down this morning. Cloudflare had DNS outage (at least in Tampa/Sarasota area) There was some note about work going on in Atlanta. Maybe something went wrong?

Frontier fiber also has systems down (we called and they confirmed it).

Re:Ownership of AI-Generated Code Hotly Disputed on Friday December 30, 2022 @11:32AM (#34186584)
I would think copyright law would have something to say about what is or is not a derivative work. How similar to code snippets have to be (or claim to be) to be considered infringement on original source?
Re:WireGuard for the ESP32 on Thursday December 29, 2022 @03:38PM (#34177623)
on a similar note, what are people using for 4G/LTE IoT providers? I've used freedompop and hologram.io before, but not sure what is best for low volume data traffic?

Thanks for this video!

It shows a nice layout with 3D-printed holder, pogo-pins, ESP32 Lolin as programmer, with CC2531 RF dongle as the access point.

Re:The ATtiny 2-Series on Monday November 28, 2022 @12:27PM (#33776452)
I wonder if Arduino will support the ATtiny 2-series?

UPDATED:

Yes... it's at the bottom on the article.

"Spence Konde has updated his excellent megaTinyCore to add support for all the ATtiny 2-series parts"

The major differences that I can see:

- More flash/ram, now up to 32k / 3k

- This has two USART modules, not just one.

- This has no DAC module, it was removed

- The ADC is improved: was 10-bit 115 ksps, now 12-bit differential 375 ksps.

Re:Apple Introduces Oceanic+ on Monday November 28, 2022 @11:00AM (#33775231)
it says it's rated to 40 meters, which is good for most recreational diving. This would not apply for deeper dives.

I'm curious to see what they have for using it with diver communication and collaboration. If one diver sees something of interest, they can easily notify other divers. I'm not sure if or how well Bluetooth works underwater?

The haptic vibration would be useful to notify about reaching maximum bottom time, and for decompression rest stops while ascending.

But I think I would still keep my traditional dive computer next to pressure gauge in my diving setup.

I wonder if they will have a wireless pressure sensor on the tank so you can also track air pressure and consumption? That would be neat.
