Re:Ruby on Rails continues to thrive on Saturday September 21, 2024 @03:34AM (#41608232)
Rails offers a choice of: webpack, esbuild, rollup, bun (since Rails v.7.1 I believe) and importmaps (default).

At least 5 built-in ways of doing JavaScript. And there are many more outside that, of course. None of these is Rails' "fault". That's the world of JavaScript, how it is.

As for the assets - Sprockets or Propshaft. The latter will replace Sprockets in new Rails versions.

I may be wrong, but I think what was meant is a feeling of belonging to a community and a feeling of togetherness.

Yeah, I agree. These upgrades are kind of disappointing.

Doesn't 'fix' already mean there was a bug, that was 'fix'-ed?
Re:Elementary OS 5.1 Hera on Friday December 06, 2019 @02:20AM (#21719857)
The majority of Linux distros are just forks of other major distros with swapped apps/DEs, so no need to expect magic.

Elementary definitely has a nicer software center UI and I personally love their terminal application more than others (even though I currently use Kubuntu). Many people like it because it reminds them of macOS, even though you don't.

And you're kind of right about GTK, but elementaryOS uses the Pantheon desktop environment built on top of GTK.

Elementary has the most gorgeous look for my taste.

Yes, it is. But the prices are violently high for Embarcadero products.

AngularDart does all the frontend stuff.
Does having a programming language name in a program name make the program better? I don't get it, sorry.
Re:Ask HN: Django or Rails? on Monday June 11, 2018 @02:47PM (#17287190)
If I were you I'd still stick with Python ecosystem, just because you say you're comfortable with Python & Flask. When you come to Ruby right from Python 'it feels the same, but different'.

You won't lose anything if you stay with Python/Django stack without touching Ruby/Rails. I believe the number of jobs available for Django and Rails developers is more or less equal if we talk about that point specifically.

But if your goal is just self-education, then why not give Ruby a try?

Yeah, my fault. Sorry for that :C

Have you tried Photopea [1]? It seems to be a great open source tool that could be an alternative to Adobe Photoshop.

I totally get that, maybe it's just a question of subjective perception. What he's done is still a large piece of job.
I don't get that either. Also look at https://github.com/yue/help. The author is basically saying "I'm a really cool developer, was there, did that, anything else?". Every single sentence consists of narcissism (or how should I call that?). This is only how I see that, I'm sorry if I offended somebody.
