Re:Ask HN: Is there server-side software that we are missing in 2018?

There's two ways to "fill a gap", either you create a gap that needs filling or you make an existing solution better. You don't see anything missing because you aren't looking at things from this perspective.

And I bet Google's team will magically stop "accelerating" wordpress after this change is implemented... They are really pushing AMP hard

The problem is when BigCo does AI research, they are not doing it for the greater good, they are trying to find a competitive edge. Unfortunately there are no good incentives (besides doing the "right" thing) for companies to open their datasets to the public, so until there is we can expect more of the same...

Alas, there is no way the U.S. would ever stand up for privacy, they are one of the biggest invaders of it after all.

I'd love to see more support for different wallets, It's generally bad practice to keep things on the exchanges as they aren't the most trustworthy bunch.

Ugh, "fake news" is probably the worst term to come out of 2017. Blanket statements like this are usually more dangerous than the actual content that is being described whether or not it's "fake".

Re:Ask HN: How do you mitigate stress as a single-person business?
on Thursday June 15, 2017 @02:50PM (#14563250)
In my experience it's not the amount of decisions as much as amount of work, I've mitigated that by automating as much of my business as possible from invoicing to funneling customer communication from email and phone calls to slack. try and identify what parts of your business you are spending the most time on and figure out if there's a better way
Re:Slack is reportedly raising another huge $500M round of funding
on Thursday June 15, 2017 @02:17PM (#14562925)
I'm thinking Slack's issue is their free version is too good and the paid version is way too expensive (per user pricing gets scary) I know in my experience we don't have any trouble using free and we have too many people to make a jump to the paid. I think Slack needs a "middle ground" solution where small-medium businesses won't balk at the per user pricing.
