Re:Jensen Huang says AI distillation is 'competition.' on Monday September 28, 2026 @11:12AM (#49879352)
I think that Jensen's position as the guy selling the proverbial shovels incentivizes him to take a lot of irresponsible positions (namely around safety) but imo he's fundamentally correct here.
Re:Claude, change the "Add to Cart" button to blue on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @10:48AM (#49627532)
this is hilarious lmao
I absolutely, 100% think that we should attempt to stigmatize the use of LLMs as a junk-food substitute for engaging with real, human writing, yeah. I just don't / cannot bring myself to accept the "let people enjoy things" approach here
I just fundamentally disagree with this. On one hand, sure, you can argue that there is no direct harm caused by using LLMs to generate fiction for personal consumption. But on the other hand, I feel like there is a deep spiritual deadening that arises when we no longer must engage with the works of others to find fiction that satisfies our tastes. You have niche interests? What you want to read doesn't exist in a meaningful quantity or even at all? Great! You should write it! But you should do so yourself rather than asking a computer to regress your great idea to the mean.
This sucks. Sorry. If you can't write on your own, don't write at all. Extremely disappointed that anyone is giving this votes.
Re:TypeScript 7 on Wednesday July 08, 2026 @04:16PM (#48836893)
I may be missing something, but your example doesn't typecheck?

  class Animal { }
  class Dog extends Animal{
    bark(){return 1}
  }
  class Cat extends Animal{
    bark(){return 1}
  }
  const dogs: Dog[] = []
  const animals: Animal[] = dogs
  animals.push(new Cat())
  animals[0].bark() <<<<< "Property 'bark' does not exist on type 'Animal'."
fun project!

this is cool! i'd recommend fleshing out the README. Clicked on the link before the discussion and was a tad confused.
Re:We deserve a better streams API for JavaScript on Friday February 27, 2026 @03:38PM (#47185265)
I really enjoyed reading this article however I can't help but feeling that if you need anything described within it probably shouldn't be writing JS in the first place
