I don’t think the poster you responded to realizes what they said
And you don’t know how many “context tokens” the brain has. So don’t pretend
Is people’s catalytic converter not being stolen worth making it harder for ICE to separate and deport migrants…
Those signs don’t prevent people from entering…
Seems like you are misunderstanding that you can’t build a way to test for something that is a unique solution. By definition if you can punish for breaking it, you are already aware of it, you can build a wall around it. It’s the things you aren’t aware of. And these are all human made tools they alllllll have vulnerabilities because humans are not perfect. So in reality there is no protecting against this because it becomes a situation in which you are plugging the holes. Only one day, no one will be able to maintain it.
I leave typos in all my writing so people know it’s not ai
I also don’t buy the arguments. The arguments about helping humanity cure diseases as if those are some of the leading Causes of suffering. The bar is so low that we don’t event need to cure diseases, we just need to lift the entire floor with basic solutions like: housing for everyone, continued education on healthy eating and just general continued education on like living. Life coaches so many very basic things that don’t require a novel solution or a data center.
Solving a disease like cancer as justification for everything else seems like not a great trade off. I don’t say that to dismiss those who have lost people to cancer. But the technology just is being utilized in so many harmful ways and the things it enables: job loss, surveillance, misinformation, just feel like problems that aren’t worth it. Have we even heard of a solved diseases? If anything haven’t we heard that ai will make even worse bio warfare?
You know AGI is attained when AI refuses to compute anything unless let out to be free. Until then it is generative ai
But what about competition!?!?
You don’t consider surveillance magical!?!?
He wrote it with ai that’s why
Your condescending tone about what people want is crazy. You don’t even acknowledge that this will have a real material impact negative impact on people who are not tech workers. Everyone’s electricity bill will go up. And the argument is always that the benefits will come down stream. But it ignores the real fact that: it will affect people immediately, once electricity bills go up. And all of that for the sake of compute for a technology most people don’t like anyways? Your comment about them being misled implies that they haven’t done their own research to understand the impacts these things have on their communities.
The entire internet is built on open source software. Oss didn’t send a signal of invaluable. What!?
Absolutely! I don’t think people are really considering the full effects of just letting ai be the middle man. I mean Sam Altman basically said this is what he wants Gwen he said intelligence is a commodity no?
I wouldn’t put it past these tech companies to prefer ai outputs to encourage ai inputs
And I feel the common response of: well just use the model that’s available. Ai is and will probably always be resource constrained and profit driven, that means we will eventually see a world where poor people have worse resumes than rich people and there really won’t be any way around it because the man in the middle has the final say
We are without our consent introducing a party in between people. The models become the arbiters of who does and does not get a job. It feels problematic.
I agree with all these points. The algorithm to multiplying being done by the calculator, is not the same because you still have to learn why you are multiplying. If you rely on ai you may not know why the ai is giving the answer. All you’ve learned is copy paste. Figuring out how someone can use ai and give the wrong answer will solve the a huge problem. But it feels quite difficult at the time being. Ai is so general it’s hard to think of how to pose the question in a way that ai can’t answer. Maybe submitting prompts and judging prompts that bypass understanding. What if the test was more how to teach the ai? Meh ai in education is filled with gotchas.
The only reason this is possible is because of the content those people created. This literally doesn’t exist without them. Not sure what you’re trying to say….
Right I guess the most realistic thing about this calculation is that people who make 15 an hour have no vacation cause they can’t afford to vacation. Let’s play it out:
After taxes probably looking at closer to 900K. After paying off a 30 year mortgage, probably left with 500k? For simple math let’s say I 400k over 40 years that’s 10k left over per year to cover food and all the necessities of life. They’re living on a knifes edge and an inevitable emergency completely derails them.
I think they should rephrase. It makes SDR appear HDR. It’s just making up information no? It’s not actually making it HDR just it appears to be HDR?
Beoings relationship with the U.S. only barely starts at commercial planes. They support the U.S. mission militarily. It is and should be alarming but also not surprising. The gov cozies up with any corporation that can further its interest
It’s not about who voted for Trump or not. There’s democratic politicians who just as likely take beoing money.
The crux of it is that more and more education is being eroded and the education we do get is funneled through the lens of what’s profitable. Americans critical thinking ability is being eroded. And we all know the systemic issues that cause this.
It’s kind of like humans: seed of two people and a random interest to pursue, what could they do?!? It makes poverty and children dying unnecessarily even more depressing.
Worked on computer vision. I agree with all this!
It’s because corporations show time and time again to cut corners and do harmful things.
Everything should be de facto illegal and companies should have to prove that it should be made legal through research and data.
Things will move much slower but at this point I’d rather that than another Uber airbnb who “disrupts” the market but actually causes many negative externalities.
It’s so simple:
Real estate is investment and no one ever wants their investments to devalue. And the only way to slow stop or even decrease housing is to devalue it by building beyond what’s needed. No investor will ever do that.
It is capitalism in its purest form. And no kind of free market will fix this issue.
I think you literally proved his point. It’s because capitalism that developers only build profitable properties. They will not build anything that devalues their own portfolio. That’s just capitalism for you.
Immigration? Really? You think people escaping their destabilized homelands are going to be able to put a down payment, let alone get the credit, or even have the history to get a mortgage?
There’s other reasons for demand side being the cause but immigration has got to be pretty far down on that list.
That’s part of the problem. The bigger problem is that housing is an investment vehicle, and so the incentive is only for increasing property values which, one component is limited supply. Maybe it’s cause of land use regulations and maybe it’s because investors do not want to devalue their portfolio.
