It's as much as a YAML fork as a TOML fork. I think each are emphasized the right amount.

Someone who never should have been their vendor, due to closeness to Moscow. It's too bad, but I will probably look elsewhere.

Here's one such project: https://github.com/Dicklesworthstone/frankenterm

However, it is more focused on multiplexing.

Indeed, this seemed not to happen to the same degree: https://ghuntley.com/fracture/

vscode forks were shown to be viable.

Re:No Signs of AI Payoff Outside the Tech Sector on Saturday October 24, 2026 @04:46PM (#50225070)
Do you think those offering professional translation service were obsessed with AI? Or chess players? The rest of the world doesn't get to decide...
Re:Facebook now charging to post more than 2 links a month on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @01:11PM (#50169527)
I was editing when your reply came out. Nope. Luckily it's a family of technologies.
Re:Facebook now charging to post more than 2 links a month on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @01:10PM (#50169497)
Thanks for mentioning that. It reinforces my desire to avoid zstd because of its connection to Facebook.
Re:Neckbeard – a DevOps/platform/SRE plugin for your agent on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @05:18PM (#50095470)
The guy in the image doesn't look very euphoric, not even in a subtle way. Sorry, not the neckbeard plugin I was looking for. Mine must be influenced by aalewis.

In the same sense as infinite jest.

They weren't running on OpenAI, so nope.
Re:What should we tell our students? on Thursday October 08, 2026 @11:36PM (#50015690)
Confusing since it's on a terrytao's wordpress.com blog. I wonder if he's aware of the drama at Automattic.
Re:Yes, and on Thursday October 08, 2026 @08:14PM (#50014258)
It will be faster to understand it, which will make it less valuable. I think I could point something like this to a curious AI software builder without a CS degree and tell them to have AI explain it and they could make up a significant chunk of what they're missing by not having a CS degree. https://www.cs.yale.edu/homes/perlis-alan/quotes.html

You replace it with your domain.
Re:Getting the most out of Opus 5.5 in Claude and Claude Code on Saturday October 03, 2026 @08:16PM (#49949213)
These example prompts seem soulless. Should I feed this document to another LLM that's OK with me being informal so I can have it give me prompts that Claude will find acceptable without contorting myself to talk like this?
Re:Apple Pass Designer on Friday October 02, 2026 @08:58PM (#49940404)
OK, NFTs are like loyalty cards too then. Because these digital wallets don't need to be like physical cards. That's just an artificial design constraint.
Re:Apple Pass Designer on Friday October 02, 2026 @04:35PM (#49938290)
I mean this design aspect. To me it felt like it was a bit over the top, and I could imagine them to start making limited run series of them. Looking at it again, it says that there are templates, so maybe this art was made by designers, rather than AI images generated on the fly, but I imagined that they were the latter.
Re:Apple Pass Designer on Friday October 02, 2026 @03:28PM (#49937522)
These are reminiscent of NFTs, they are things you can collect, mass generated.
I doubt that with the speed of thought dramatically increasing due to AI, that the door will stay closed just because it's being closed now. That decision will be revisited.
Re:Meta VR Glasses on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @10:41PM (#49825555)
There isn't a very direct comparison of Oculus products to game consoles like PlayStation, Nintendo, XBox, or those in the distant past. It is interesting, and they have a lot of the same market forces at play, but I don't think they behave by the same rules.
Re:Meta VR Glasses on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @10:22PM (#49825439)
CV1 was as a Facebook subsidiary. Acquired 2014-07-21, CV1 announced January 2016 and released March 2016. https://techcrunch.com/2014/07/21/facebooks-acquisition-of-o... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oculus_Rift_CV1
Re:Meta VR Glasses on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @10:16PM (#49825389)
It wasn't though, a full price would have been more, to cover not just components and assembly but the cost of R&D.
Re:Meta VR Glasses on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @09:25PM (#49825034)
Not really. Pre-release baked into the name.
Re:Meta VR Glasses on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @09:06PM (#49824900)
Neither qualifies.

I'd like to know how to type it with voice dictation.
Re:I don't want to read what you didn't write on Monday September 21, 2026 @08:06PM (#49795115)
> I don’t want to live in a world where you use AI to summarize something important into unreadable text, and then I use AI in an attempt to decipher it. I want to hear you, imperfections and all.

It doesn't fundamentally change the equation if I use AI to prepare and then write it myself. If I'm using AI effectively, it's likely that you won't be able to tell.

This sort of post is increasingly coming off as high and mighty, where the user thinks they are being exceptionally creative and other people who are using AI are using it mindlessly.

Re:How Big Are Factorials? on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @04:03PM (#49732196)
To me it feels like a smuggled exponentation. If I take half of 52 and raise it to itself and add a base unit to it like grams or meters, that's an incomprehensibly large amount.

Re:Why is Google still serving dodgy ads? on Sunday September 13, 2026 @10:01PM (#49690959)
They're losing business that they don't want. Silicon Valley culture has embraced saying no, firing clients and customers, choosing the right audience, etc. This even fits into finding product-market fit. You don't try to please everyone, and find a well-defined segment. So to Google it might not seem like it's getting bad at all. To them, maybe the trash took itself out, they got rid of that annoying customer who complains about their marketplace, whereas they appreciate the quiet reporting of an ad that's against the ToS...
> What about some kid buying a goofy mall katana they are going to put on their wall?

Or a kitty keychain...

Y combinator helped people notice it when they invested in a company called Automatic https://www.ycombinator.com/companies/automatic However now that it's been acquired that reminder of Automattic not being named Automatic is gone.
