Look up SPEEA

It could be worker organization in Europe is mutually cooperative rather than antagonistic as often found in USA.
Re:Boeing missing key elements of safety culture: FAA report on Tuesday February 27, 2024 @11:11AM (#39525762)
What a reductive attitude. Nah not just one negligent worker. Many, including QC staff.
Those mods can be done hilariously cheap vs starting with a raw block of land with no utilities. Just having a foundation with exterior walls and utilities ran to it, even undersized, is massive time save.
Re:Profiteering Hampers U.S. Grid Expansion on Sunday February 25, 2024 @10:08PM (#39507251)
Far more than 246 lives would be lost reworking the grid once you account for the fact it would take 246+ life years of manpower to rework the grid for the feds blood sacrifice they require before declaring Texan grid kosher.
Re:Profiteering Hampers U.S. Grid Expansion on Sunday February 25, 2024 @09:37PM (#39507081)
Decentralized generators and propane heaters are far most robust and economical vs reworking an entire grid for rare events like that. The dead mostly have themselves to blame for their stupidity and lack of self reliance.

Id vote to keep it as is. Let natural selection work it out.

Re:TSMC is having more luck building in Japan than in America on Sunday February 25, 2024 @04:04PM (#39504726)
That's a cool story, but not true in all of Arizona. I built in Arizona and without code inspections or anyone checking I follow regulations. They probably just tried to build in a fascist shithole like Maricopa or Pima county where people with such deranged regulatory thinking congregate for their mental illness self support group.

In my county we figured out that ' paid for in blood' was bullshit invented by corrupt inspectors and contractors and we voted to eliminate it. Draw a rectangle on a map and after that it's green light.

The tenth amendment constrains congress from regulating outside enumerated powers. Intrastate trade is not an enumerated power. Most applications of the NLRB are tyrannical short-circuits.
Government should be forced to compete in the free market like the plebs if they want money for their programs and salaries, rather than sending men with machine guns to prey on victims. Hope the fucks in office are good at flipping burgers and can cut out the avocado toast.
Re:EU to make AI generated child abuse material criminal on Thursday February 15, 2024 @12:41PM (#39385672)
Makes sense but real people have real ages. Couldnt they just say the AI is a rendition of an 18 year old with some hypothetical development deviation? You'd have to ban all ai porn because the age can't be measured as it's non-existent.
Re:How I got scammed out of $50k on Thursday February 15, 2024 @11:35AM (#39384810)
And eliminate immunity for judges. They ought to be brought to account for subversion of rights.
Re:How I got scammed out of $50k on Thursday February 15, 2024 @10:32AM (#39383879)
I did that. Then they got a federal search warrant by making up a dog that supposedly smelled something, said there must be drugs hidden in my GI tract, dragged me to the hospital and then sent me the hospital bill when nothing was found. You can stop answering questions and they keep dragging you to more hospitals racking up your debt. This whole time I was 'not under arrest' so I had no real rights, but apparently DHS can drag you to hospitals cuffed for 'emergency medical care' without an arrest.

On another occasion feds came to my house to investigate a neighbor. When I refused to talk they waited until I was shutting the door and stuck their fingers in to try and get me for assault as it closed. Thankfully I caught the door at the last millisecond and just stared at them blankly with the door cracked until they left.

Re:How I got scammed out of $50k on Thursday February 15, 2024 @10:16AM (#39383663)
Im amazed she pulled the money out so easily. A few times I've bought shitmobile cars for 5k+ plus cash and the teller always spends 5 minutes typing up a SAR before they hand it to me and always interrogate why and seem annoyed. WTF bank does she have that they just grab 50k no questions asked?
Re:California Dem call for $50 minimum wage on Thursday February 15, 2024 @01:05AM (#39379629)
I ended up under a tarp at that wage. Then I worked a rotation on a fishing boat and afterwords hitchiked to Eugene where I could actually rent a room from full time labor.
Re:California Dem call for $50 minimum wage on Wednesday February 14, 2024 @11:46PM (#39379212)
$22 in Seattle would give you plenty of cash for a visit to REI headquarters to buy a real nice ultralight tent and dry down sleeping bag that will fit into a small enough backpack that people might not figure out you're homeless.
Re:Why Americans Suddenly Stopped Hanging Out on Wednesday February 14, 2024 @11:43PM (#39379196)
The counterpoint is people like McAffee who despite admitting and bragging of the lewdist shit continued to garner investment. Honestly you can get away with a lot in the US as long as you don't make personal insults to a coworker or customer, especially if you work in trades or non woke tech. Might even be required to be a bit loony from what I've seen in construction sites.
Re:California Dem call for $50 minimum wage on Wednesday February 14, 2024 @11:21PM (#39379072)
Minimum wage was touted as a way to push out blacks, immigrants, and other undesirables with asymmetric access to education and capital when it was introduced in the US in the wake of the great depression. They wanted a floor high enough that only a nice white boy would earn and thus outlaw the lesser paid workers to the fringes where they can be further exploited.

Minimum wage still has this function today, a policy for smug elite to smash down the least fortunate while doing double speak to pretend like they are doing the poor a favor.

Re:Industry veterans get candid on ageism in gaming on Wednesday February 14, 2024 @12:32PM (#39372563)
That some may agree to slavery-until-i-say-uncle is far less threat to liberty than some democratic oppressor that picks and chooses what consenting adults may agree to based on what hypothetical options might end up on the negotiating table of other consenting adults.
Curious how stat considers if gun is stored on person instead of safe.

Also the reason why people end up with guns in cars is often because of dumbass laws like forcing you to abandon the weapon before going into a liquor licensed restaurant, park, daycare, post office, etc. Theyd rather the gun get stolen and carried by a crim than a licensed carrier walk into the post office.

Removing carry restrictions I think would significantly lower accounts of unsecured (car) storage. Only takes one time of going into post office or picking up your kid at daycare and now you're tossed into stats of someone who doesnt keep all guns secured at the home safe.

Re:Your AI Girlfriend Is a Data-Harvesting Horror Show on Wednesday February 14, 2024 @10:35AM (#39371024)
This is why child abuse material prosecution should require testimony of a victim-accuser to face. As law currently stands it's as easy as the ol "we searched his car and lo and behold look at this crack rock" trick.
Re:Industry veterans get candid on ageism in gaming on Wednesday February 14, 2024 @10:00AM (#39370518)
The initial premise was 'all' employees.

If the company and employee have choice to choose union/non union I have no problem with it. The visceral reaction was to denial of employment by mutual consent.

Sure. First pin interest at zero ensuring the richest can get priority access to nearly free borrowing. Then let housing prices explode and then ratchet them down with 30 year loans with negative real interest that owners will never give up

Once the housing is blown away, reverse the policies until wages depress and you're left with serfs.

It's the worst nightmare of free market gone wrong at the behest of a doubling down government. They've absolutely fucked us; we would have been better off left alone.

The fed was created in secret on Jekyll Island specifically because it wasn't supposed to be democratically transparent.
Contracting the money supply ought to do it. Sell off all the fed held assets and buildings and take the proceeds out of circulation and watch deflation depress wages.
Re:Industry veterans get candid on ageism in gaming on Tuesday February 13, 2024 @04:53PM (#39363365)
Sure, then it's no longer third party dissent but counterparty dissent in hiring non union. Obviously competitors will emerge to varying success to employ these excluded persons.
Re:The Dating App Paradox on Tuesday February 13, 2024 @04:49PM (#39363325)
The fetus can potentially emerge as long as the man sticks around and survived for a few minutes. Not so for the female. The baseline minimal investment is sexist. Perhaps nature should be flagged too.
Re:The Dating App Paradox on Tuesday February 13, 2024 @04:48PM (#39363297)
I think people date and romance because largely it feels good, and it instinctively feels good because it satisfies certain necessities of life. Some of which necessitate pairing with the opposite sex. I don't expect the masses to be able to explain their instincts,or for their thoughts to explain them.

> That's really not super helpful

But it's more helpful than most of the other social media fast alternatives of someone you don't know well. You won't be getting their medical records. On a thirty second first glance yay/nay a few healthy photos looking good doing aerobic activities is as close as you're going to get to evidence of sexual fitness for fetal survival without asking intrusive and creepy sounding medical questions.

Re:Industry veterans get candid on ageism in gaming on Tuesday February 13, 2024 @04:27PM (#39363064)
Whos liberty is effected if you and I play slave farm until one of us screams uncle?
Re:The Dating App Paradox on Tuesday February 13, 2024 @03:36PM (#39362505)
Reproduction is sexist. Women bear, and contribute, the lions share of the fetal cost.

Not all healthy appearing prime age females can reproduce, obviously. Healthy, young adult, well nourished appearance is still a good indicator towards 9 months of reproductive value.

Re:Industry veterans get candid on ageism in gaming on Tuesday February 13, 2024 @01:19PM (#39360835)
I don't see a compelling reason why I shouldn't be able to act as a slave for as long as both parties consent to it. If you want to create lovich 1840s era cotton picking slave service with the full historical recreation it's not clear why that's anyone else's business but you and the masta'.
