The image appears to be "Paris skyline panorama with Eiffel Tower" taken by Jan Becke.

Take from that what you will.

It's the one in your head that you picture, as not many have been taken:

Would a DSM not be preferable to a DTM? Or is that you reference with regards to large trees?
I think the context makes it clear. But, equally, you can argue that the CD format was physically locking the files to that binder, but now the data is digitised it is more easily accessed and shared.
Re:Show HN: Made an open-source Lego AI generator on Friday October 02, 2026 @09:43PM (#49940635)
People find different things 'fun'. Presumably the author really enjoyed making this (and look at all the positive comments).

Who are you to decide what other people enjoy?

This is a visualisation of Europe.

Some birds migrate outside Europe.

Re:IKEA made a mod for Skyrim [video] on Saturday September 12, 2026 @05:43AM (#49670691)
The idea has been conceived and executed by creative agency Mother, in partnership with Kinggath Creations - a team of creatives, fans and mod developers who make fun and original content that blends seamlessly into the game world.

Were that the case, there would have been nobody buying Starlink.

As they are, I think you are wrong.

Every time I scrolled down I thought, "I bet there'll be a picture now". Alas.

This sounds like an interesting topic, but rather than getting an AI to write it and publish it verbatim, I would recommend a second pass: do _you_ find this interesting to read? You_

If you're worried about addictive scrolling perhaps your "couch tablet" is worth side-eyeing.

What do you mean, it's ALL inconvenient!

Re:GamersNexus and LG: Or why rooting your TV is a bad idea on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @04:40AM (#49607421)
I think you're being deliberately obtuse. You would update software on a TV for all the same reasons you update software on any other device: improved performance, better compatibly, new features, etc
This is a surprising headline for anyone who remembers the huge fire they had in '05:

"Curses, Gromit! Fire destroys animation firm's history on eve of box office triumph"

https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2005/oct/11/arts.media

So I can run Plex, iPlayer, Netflix, etc etc

The majority of content that people watch is distributed over the internet, so our TVs are connected thus.

I recommend everyone watch the documentary First Footprints[0], it is the most wondrous thing I have ever seen.

The simple answer is that some storied reference events that happened that long ago.[1]

Re:Finger: Social network that never died on Wednesday August 19, 2026 @07:00AM (#49359834)
This whole thread has me a little puzzled, in the UK 'fingering' is the de-facto term for a sexual act. Is that not the case elsewhere?

"Fingering was huge at my university" is, in the UK, very true, but I feel that's not the context you're using it in!

Generations of men have been taught that when walking with a woman on a pavement, they should always take the side closer to the road allowing her to keep further away from the traffic.

But Dr Iarla Kilbane-Dawe claimed that Londoners should avoid walking too near the kerb because on busy streets, air pollution can be up to a third higher than on the inside of the pavement.

“It still gets people surprised,” Milstein says. “Everybody asks, what about the head? But we’re actually able to reduce the effective dose by 60 percent without protecting the head, the arms, or even the legs.”

Whilst I understand the maths here, I can see why someone would be nervous!

"Exist" is a low benchmark to hit.

Very few people would be willing to trade in the opulence of today.

“Why is it not opt-in? That’s what everybody is spamming in chat. I get it. ‘Let me opt in versus making me opt out,’” Minton said. “Well, there’s an honest answer… If this was opt-in, nobody would opt in. That’s honestly the answer.”

The absolute cheek of it!

"Combined with the geology and the peculiar chemistry of the cave’s water and air, the evidence pointed to a system that had been closed off since roughly five and a half million years ago."
Ah, good, an opportunity to recommend It's Quieter in the Twilight (2022). Beautiful documentary.
