I’ve had poor luck working with freelancers. Some good luck for the occasional drawing. But good help is hard to find.
Who is also a working engineer (and programmer of the highest caliber) who is in touch with the zeitgeist of engineering.
Re:Nothing Doing on Friday August 21, 2026 @11:00AM (#49389180)
My great grandmother taught me that “nothing doing” meant something similar to “there’s nothing for it”.
This is just very cool. Thanks for sharing.
How far are we from speaking a GameCube-era game into existence as a pastime?
This is how I feel too!

If you want to get excited… think about all the things that ever got you excited about the future. Then think about how you basically had to defer the possibility of them happening in your lifetime.

Readjust your timelines! Determine what is the most amazing thing that could happen, that you could contribute to, by orchestrating computation effectively.

I mean we don’t even have a cure for cancer yet!

The basics are always so basic yet so necessary. Thanks for the recommendation.

I like the ideas a lot. The Readme needs some polish (I think it’s great that it reads as hand-written; an LLM could make suggestions that make it just 10% easier to read).

Is choreographic programming the same as session types?

What are the specs of your laptop and what tokens per second do you get?
Right but what keeps the second line clean? You’re going to get spam there too.
I think we have to do something this extreme. We have to give the system a total makeover. Somehow we also have to keep it from being fully centralized and have the big brother problem on the other side. Unfortunately these two goals are difficult to get through at the same time, with the system that we have.
Can 3100 links be legendary? I feel like there can be at most 310 legendary links
Re:Agent swarms and the new model economics on Tuesday July 21, 2026 @10:26AM (#48992800)
Yes, agentic coding is machine learning. Not because of the underlying language models, but because it is gradient descent, where the test harness provides a gradient for the agent to traverse.

Most people don’t know about that because they live in an information bubble handcrafted by the oligarchs.

Yes and Pythonic is the Pythonic word for idiomatic

Engineer? Wow, that’s high falutin. Sanitation Technician is as high as I got.

I suggest you encoding your invariants in the harness. Architectural invariants that can be mechanically checked, including which modules are approved, which dependencies, etc.
VC startup world is not about intelligence. It’s about impressing investors.

What models have you tried? Gemini 3.1 pro has vision capable of reading my sloppy diaries from 10 years ago, down to small glyphs and doodles.
Re:Markdy: Like Mermaid Diagrams, but for Motion on Thursday June 25, 2026 @10:01AM (#48673568)
Wow. That sure is something.
Re:Markdy: Like Mermaid Diagrams, but for Motion on Thursday June 25, 2026 @09:51AM (#48673409)
Yes. It’s astonishing how I see individuals with these enormous egos centered on their intellectual, technical achievements, who have such egregious blindspots surrounding their own unethical attitudes and behavior.

Sirs, please turn the apparatus upon itself. Question yourself as a part of a larger system. What is your function among members of your own species? How can you falsify your hypotheses on this subject? Please don’t be so incurious.

Where I made up my mind is during “dance party” where the boys have faces and the girl has a dancing woman for a head.

Overall the idea is creative, but also not at all what I hoped. Was hoping for diagrams of actors in the systems sense.

Yep. I switched to Zed over the weekend and I’m very happy so far. It’s snappy.

“Listen” is being used in a non-literal way here, with the meaning “to accept as true”.
We could all chip in
Re:Ask HN: Is anyone using the A2A protocol yet? on Thursday June 18, 2026 @03:57PM (#48590667)
We set up something with a registry of AgentCards and a messaging system with SSE streaming—then we realized we didn’t need an agent on the other side so now we have this weird hybrid pattern.

So, no.

Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (June 2026) on Sunday June 14, 2026 @09:48PM (#48535575)
I’m in the first weeks of designing nub: Not Unix, Basically. The motto is “general-purpose, provably correct software, for everyone”. The idea is to build, on top of seL4, a software stack that builds compile time capability guarantees and other high-assurance primitives into every piece of software by default.

“nub” is a good name because it can also be read as “noob”, which I am, when it comes to PL, type systems, and OS design. But I’m loving the deep connections that I am learning to draw across subjects like computability theory, functional programming, and brass-tacks software development.

For example, I find myself understanding the purpose of the borrow checker in Rust (“to make race conditions impossible” is my understanding: feel free to correct me / add color).

No website or GitHub repo yet. I’m brushing up on classical logic and learning Idris. Installed QEMU today.

Still haven’t succeeded! I’m on my 8th business since being a teenager. I have lost quite a bit of money. I’ve earned some through consulting. I think for those of use for whom it doesn’t come easy or natural (and maybe, for everyone) you have to identify as an entrepreneur—wanting and even trying isn’t enough. Then let go of all outcomes. Then just move forward every day.

But I haven’t succeeded yet, so I might not be giving the best advice!

Oh yeah, he’s the one who said glue people are useless
When you have everything but can’t even keep your hands to yourself. Shameful.
