Internet would be like this 80% if you used PC and avoid social media scrollholes. The infinite scroll of phone app is the adictive cancer. Internet usage with PC is like slow food.

Living in once soviet ocupied country, I would rather taken nukes. The Great chance to erase the malignance missed.
Plastic is a superior packaging material. It delivers superb cleanlines and posibility to use packaging gas(Nitrogen) in automated lines. Cleanliness is essential for shelf life, and many products have it now unheard compared to 80s paper packaging - only due to package. Amount of food spoilage prevented by plastic packaging is enormous, it is very sad to see this no plastic hysteria. Like seing dark ages returning.
Re:Why are shopping carts always broken? on Monday February 19, 2024 @04:35AM (#39427738)
As non american, I can't relate to this article. Such a niche problem. All our cart's are with coins - can't remember when I got broken.
Whats the point of marriage then if being able you refuse kids? It's designed as a secure hub to build greater things like children bearing family. Why to subject yourself to lonely elderly life, tied to aging partner? Be like gay/bachelor people and enjoy hundreds of partners, why try to mimic family being afraid for full experience?
And some muslim comunities deliberately prohibid female education as a support for this theory.

Re:Who makes the most reliable new cars? on Thursday November 30, 2023 @03:54AM (#38471283)
How come Tesla is not on top? It has only a handfull of models compared to legacy automakers and it's mechanicaly more simple. Fanboys allways tout about it and now the facts...

Re:The future of warfare: A $400 drone killing a $2M tank on Monday October 30, 2023 @09:00AM (#38068948)
With the first assasination of politician, drones will be regulated harder than weapons in EU.
Welcome to the era of the burger flipper developers. 2 months ago they were at the grill, then entered some code academy (or sourcery as it's fashionable) and now welcomes you. If he survives a year in the industry - it's even worse, as "experience" kicks in.
Re:Why Kundera Never Went Home on Thursday August 03, 2023 @04:25AM (#36982927)
This apologetic article deliberatley doesn't include name of Miroslav Dvořáček, a man that spend 10 years in prison. He went there because Kundera gave him in. This is half mentioned.
What about people who did psychedelics and got severe anxiety, depresion, panic attacks? Why the dark side of using drugs is always forgoten. It feels like cartels invested in PR - upside only.
Re:Can Injection: keyless car theft on Thursday April 06, 2023 @06:47AM (#35466621)
Mate have you seen old relay controled car? It has 3 times less wires and is repairable with simple tools. "Simplifying wiring can add up to a significant weight and cost reduction" it's just not there.
This drug normalisation in media makes me so sad. For few lads with life changing ayahuasca trip there is a hundred depresive and miserable trips, also lasting for months! And if someone dares to speak up, reply is "oh your set & setting was wrong". Drugs are wrong, it's high risk substance with highest probability to mess you up and minuscule to give any longer lasting benefit.

Re:Insulation: First the body, then the home (2011) on Tuesday January 31, 2023 @09:14AM (#34595224)
Another benefit of pants and ligh sweater is that around 20C it's much easier to maintain 50% humidity in cold weather reagions. And I'm talking about European A+ house with Mechanical ventilation with Heat Recovery. Above 0C I don't need run humidifier even, CO2 is around 650ppm. Below 0C humidifier keeps around 45%RH, dropping to 40%RH on -15C days. But set room to 23C and you need to run humidifier much much harder.
JetBrains is a Russian company and it's tool usage should be abolished. No matter all the name laundering they do, they are russian. In the end all your fees will be fueling Russian war against Ukraine. I canceled my subscription for this reason and use old perpetual version. When it fails me will move to another tool.

> Most of the plastic that enters the oceans from land comes from rivers in Asia. More than 80% of it.

This is THE PROBLEM. It is mesmerizing how article shifts blame to those terrible "rich countries". Me in that rich country collect every bit of plastic to trashbin, sort it out just to read than my asian friends dumped it to river zero F's given. And it's my fault!

Re:Europe’s Energy Crisis Forces Factories to Go Dark on Wednesday October 05, 2022 @08:43AM (#33094732)
The issue is so called energy market, where electricity LOT price is set to MAX LOT price for all LOTS at that time slot if all lots are bought (peak hours when all generation is consumed). So in peak hours everyone gets max price of gas powerplant, all electricity selers happy (wind gets 4000 EURO/MWh, solar get same, everyone!) and the sucker on the wire end pays the bill/factories go dark. This stock algorithm with high gass price is exploading EU now.
And terrorists do not forget
Corded vacum for residential is such a thing of a past, can't believe genuine people fallback to cords over dysons... I use V8 and V11, wonderfull machines. I like V8 more because it light and nimble.

The naivesness of the young lad mixed with enthusiasm, grown up in ubiquitous cell and smartphone era. He could use pack of saved money to put to his ear and make call during the war now.
