We do have more data available than just what one farmer experiences.
Nonetheless, what is a good response to it?
I don't have the feeling that just ignoring it or not doing anything is a good approach.
You also assume your worldview. When i hear your digital nomade lifestyle i'm not envy it and i'm not connecting to your worldview.
Procrastination doesn't mean 'not working'. Workaholic doesn't mean 'unhappy'.
Now farmers said things like 'i have never seen so little water at this time of year in the 30 years im a farmer'.
I don't have the feeling we are recognizing the elephant in the room.
My personal take on this is to buy a farm, buy water reserve tanks, have a little garden and trying to become independend. Which is not a bad plan in general as it helps to cut costs down anyway if you do it smart enough. Its not that i get money when i put it in the bank and corona showed how volatile shares can be.
As far as i know intel has/had plenty of reserves and is still selling good.
The Demand in general is very high.
Doyou have any numbers?
A weird blog post becomes an ad for a book?
Whatever this example should demonstrate, it doesn't make me curious about the book.
Mentally speaking: I have optimized my thinking on not doing things twice, not being wasteful, lean, reusing components etc.
If it is solved, there is little reason why i would/should solve it again and yes from a pure thinking perspective, it would make sense to pool all resources together to have one car brand.
The same with a Toaster. Make one good Toaster, make it slightly configurable so you have choices in color and thats it.
This type of efficient thinking is why i get paid.
Get a little bit of money (in comparision to all those shiny great things), build it, wing it and provide a huge benefit :)
You can, for example, see whatever people are earning in Sweden.
As soon as it is allowed and possible, things like this just become a novelty.
There was one guy having data on how often he pleasured himself. First thought 'oh interesting' second thought 'mh okay so what'.
The other 2 senior people never came up with the idea of introducing it.
One of them is still putting Tickets in Review which still lack basic quality expectations.
My biggest / most used quality right now is persistence and pointing out the same misstakes/issues over weeks and month...
And don't get me wrong, there are only two options to this: 1. Get your collegues up to speed and be persistent 2. Search for a new Team
The obvious choice of not caring doesn't work for me.
Nonethless i'm still / always surprised to see religion in context of IT/programming.
I use them for - Tracking work on specific jira tickets - Giving myself a simple/quick overview on what was done - Tracking down bugs by trying to understand if that code is doing what it should do (bug vs. on purpose) - If i need to revert something, i revert a git commit. might just happend once a year but if required its fundamental
I'm also always slightly surprised about discussions from this topic: Its a nobrainer to just do it.
Its cumbersome if you have to explain to colleges, who are working with code for longer then a few month, why you should just write proper git commits.
It is like 'i'm allowed to write code which does a lot if things but pls exlpain to me again how i write a proper git commit message' :(
I would have used some Heartbeatservice but thats not feasible in our environment.
A book written by people 2000 years ago.
There is not a single proof in existence, that this book is not more then a story equivalent to Harry Potter or any other Fairy tale.
And then the issues just start...
A omnipotent she/he/it who thought 'yeah going to earth 2000 years ago is the perfect and only timing i will ever go to earth', then creates humans (which are much older than that and we know that well enough) and then never comes back and helps us?
Whats that for a shitty leader?
If no: i would say no. But if you get an alert popup, it can be mechanism like mobile sending generic alerts for tornado and stuff
I really like this with the hal sensors and that display. Nicely done :-)
There are already stories out there of people renting flats to use in Airbnb only.
While you have and had strict regulations on hotels and renting flats out, Airbnb just ignored it. What happened? Cheap rooms for Tourists, pushing rent prices higher, and putting a dent on hotels who have to have high standards and high investments.
1970 for co2 monitoring.
Testing something 100% has diminishing returns.
Therefore -> you will never be able to prevent all issues. As you are not aware how many changes are happening, you don't have a value which could indicate the healthiness of it.
I personally think that when i'm getting older and better in my job, i still make errors, the amount and severity is going down though.
shameless and useless advertising.
We just switched to a new ticketing system, now the description field is 2 rows high.
2 rows! for a fucking issue description field -_-

Like "hey lets get rid of the eye guidance thingy, so it looks less like a table?!"
My feeling is, that what Sony is now doing, goes in that direction.
I'm highly curious and hopefull.
I will read your posted blog, looks interesting. Lets see what will arrive in the industry at the end of the day.
PS5 has a IO chip and extra architecture for decompressing textures (here the context with this gzip accelerator) and more features.
Mark Cerny said that they needed this chip because from a CPU ressource usage,it would use all CPU cores. So nvm now are so fast that a io co processor is feasable again.
I get it through subscription, so no black market or shit and i'm still not taking it every day
