News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

bastard_op

As someone that worked on the team at godaddy to divest the first non-verisign pki company, this is sort of a slap in the face of responsibility. Their ability to be a pki should revoked with extreme prejudice, and who ever granted it to them revoked with it.

Israeli spyware vendors thank you for your contribution.

Welcome to piracy, you must be new here. This has been occurring for some time, I've seen it for years to occasionally find a media named exe to delete and manually redownload.

Scammers always have a new trick up their sleeve.

Well as usual if you want to see the stupid count, just query in Shodan this and behold just how many are left exposed for this same incident again:

http.html:"StoreView" https://www.shodan.io/search?query=http.html%3A%22StoreView%...

Total Results: 4,525

I realized upon reading too this was the same Danfoss fridges that got hit for .mil bases in the US. There's probably a shodan signature to find them on the internet because HVAC people don't know about network security, and someone has a trivial exploit to access them due to shitty ancient embedded controller security in them.
Visio and Project FTW.
I've been waiting 26 years for a Visio replacement since M$ bought it, hopefully they can do it too. No other app or web-based copies are good enough still (sorta omnigraffle if you use a mac [ew, no]), and I've tried most over the years to find one as I still use Visio weekly in 2026. It's the only reason I'll actually buy a copy of real windoze and visio for keeping around a VM, I can still buy real licenses overseas for both visio and project for ~$20usd each instead of the ~$500-1000usd actually IN the US.
I'm surprised anyone still uses wordpress after this whole sh!tshow, but outside HN folks probably don't even know. Just reading about it about it puts me off from the product and company.

At this point is anyone surprised at what Amazon will do to the plebeian workers that fuel them?

I can't wait to see how bad the hinge does with ifixit.
GM tried for years building their own infotainment system internally and never made one anyone liked until they just integrated android auto/car play finally. It was an admission of defeat in doing so, but made everyone happy. When they announced pulling this back, I laughed, thinking "trying to put the rabbit back in the bag, eh?"

Would I buy a car without android auto as an android user? No, end of story. GM can die like other stupid heavy-handed vendors, but sadly they are too big to fail, and will drag down the nation with them.

Pay the fine, go back to exploiting humanity.

Its not enough. Shut them down.

Claude, I need a strategy for defeating unions trying to up their rates, please research union defeating settlements done in the past 50 years and build a case against them to keep our rates at the lowest possible.
If not for creeper cops to creep, what is it for?
They must love giving their personal information to Microsoft. Mac users are used to it with the icloud "privacy" proxy they default enable on macos/ios users to slurp everything they do already, so I guess why limit yourself to giving your info to only to Tim Apple. Microsoft needs love too.
Google is an ad company, ad blockers are bad. Why are you using a browser from an advertising company and expecting different results?

Microsoft repurposed Google's adware in Chrome into Edge telemetry/spyware to feed your browsing directly into windows telemetry to watch everything you do, they wanted that back when IE lost the war.

Google already went evil and set the precedent removing adblocking capabilities, now Microsoft can just blame them and feed everything you do into Bing for ad money as well as telemetry/spyware without you blocking it, that's effectively double-dipping all in on stupid windows users.

They turned themselves into whores for sale to the highest bidder. I imagine if they could, cocaine brands would be on everyone's shirts and tattoo's on players foreheads.

Silly people still care about this crap.

I always find it hilarious CNN as the last bastion of democracy will slog Polymarket in their "numbers" segments constantly. Way to jerk off the president still CNN, can't turn down those advertisements.
It's probably going to come down to a whale bet on Polymarket, and Trump owed someone a call back.
These are basically paid soap operas like American "professional wrestling", and they have quite the following, so what does it matter fake or not?

I tried to look, but the google captcha wouldn't let me, finally gave up trying.
China will just buy a "trusted partner" one way or another.

It's like the epidemic of scam nvidia cards being resold without gpu or memory - where do you think those are going?

I'll wait for the Fitgirl digital download special edition.

This is every few weeks, I cancelled Anthropic and now use Codex only. Anthropic has been a hot mess since at least december in my usage, and has only gotten worse in 2026.
Either you drink your Microsoft poison, or you leave.
Re:The iPad was on Tailscale: a WebRTC debugging story on Wednesday June 10, 2026 @09:00PM (#48484960)
Developers should spend more time being network engineers before writing network code. I saw this title and my first thought was, "What, mtu?"

If you've ever had to support vpn's in an enterprise securing businesses with ipsec or sslvpn with tunnel overhead, you've run into mtu issues. Some apps/protocols or firewalls misbehave, devs/engineers didn't read the memo from 20 years ago in rfc form how ipv6 mtu's work (and missed v4 to boot, lucking out with 20 more years of someone else fixing it).

Not Tailscale or Cisco or in between are immune to mtu issues in vpn or networking.

Is it just me or does the back of it look like the goatse.cx guy?
It ought to be illegal everywhere, the only reason it won't be in the US is the president is on the grift with his kids operating on the boards of them.
>> SteamOS could still be affected

Steam itself does age verification, which when you first boot a steamdesk, afaik it forces you to log into steam before you can do much of anything without some initial hackery. That said, once in there's nothing stopping them from launching into desktop mode, launching firefox, and watching pr0n that way.

Sadly the solution is still for parents to do real parenting, but that's like saying stupid people shouldn't breed.

Even more so, just like meta removing end to end encryption.

"Nah dog, we like watching everything you say and do."
