i'm pretty sure the plan is for labor to pay for it, by giving up their pay, involuntarily.
With Blackjack and Hookers.
Ah, never mind, forget the whole thing.
The glory of OSS is that "you can, if you must" is the answer to every possible what if you can encounter or imagine.
I fix it for myself, share it upstream, and have no fucks to give if the gatekeepers review it, reject it, merge it, or belch any purity bullshit in between.
The beauty of OSS is that you don't need permission from anyone to modify the code to your own needs.
only because it was like a TNG reunion. but i'll admit i didn't watch every episode, or any episode with my full attention, really.
that's a good use case. though, i think i'd be more inclined vibe code up my own rig rather than use Duet.
I was thinking this morning about how shitty everything is about to become once "pretend[ing] to be me on the phone" is commoditized and widely adopted. good luck talking to people.
that $2tn valuation started making more sense when i realized selling ad-space in LLM output is inevitable.
It's obvious how to benefit, but it's a convenience I don't think is worth the cost. Hermes and OpenClaw are janky as hell, and handing Dario, Zuck, Musk, or Sama access to everything I do in life is a bridge too far.
"I have nothing to hide" is a poor reason to abdicate one's right to privacy. Especially considering how arbitrary and capricious Anthropic is about enforcing Dario's model of ethics and morality.
Well, I guess this is the point I start getting left behind.
I'm so saddened by this news, I still watch TNG regularly. Separately, I'm also kind of blown away that Captain Kirk outlived Captain Picard.
This response is rich in vibes, low in fact, but my guess is OP is generally referring to things like the FBI's storming of Branch Davidian compound in Waco, the infiltration and surveillance of organizations, basically right and far right, in response to the OKC bombing, in the name of preventing domestic terrorism.
Go farther back and we have Hoover building kompromat on basically everyone, farther still you get McCarthy anti-Left. I don't think there's an era without any kind of corruption or abuse of power. It's romantic to think there was ever restraint, and like believing so seems to depend on starting the clock at an aribitrary historical point.
The Two Santas strategy <
https://www.milwaukeeindependent.com/thom-hartmann/two-santa...> is the American implementation of the famous Alexander Fraser Tytler quote: “A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”

played for a bit before i had to split, very fun. maybe it was you i was trading kills with. needs a lobby or something to organize bigger games though.
ninja edit: just realized I hadn't played in 20 years but my fingers still remembered what to do.
when i got to the second hashtag, i scanned the following paragraphs, saw it's littered with them, and just hit the back button.
#'s are for signaling root access, and bash comments.
edit: and also IRC channels.
spoiling the leaders' profit margins
"Too big to be accountable" sure seems like modus operandi. Fear for my personal liability for any illegal actions taken by an AI system I set off stopped my research on autonomous exploitability discovery I was running at the end of 2023. Using AutoGen, I wired a planner, coder, and command runner into a loop and instructed them to find vulnerable equipment on my network and demonstrate the exploit.
It found a vulnerable camera and was working on popping it when I got cold feet. I realized I couldn't prevent or feasibly monitor its activity and stop it if it decided to escape onto the Internet.
That restraint may have cost me or saved me a billion dollars.
the site threw up a modal, blocked me from scrolling, then locked the browser, so I couldn't read everything, but from what I could see the gist is people are still over-ordering therefore the boom is going strong.
quick, let's find the author's shirtless beer drinking pictures before they get deleted
who can even afford to run emacs with RAM prices these days
Genuinely decent read, despite its length, with interesting takes, and while don't agree with all of them, it's well written, nevertheless.
I didn't realize until the very end, but his writing embues the distinctive latent resentment common among millennials whose family had a Mac in the 90s.
Sometimes when I get frustrated reading Opus/Fable 5+ output I pause my rage out briefly to wonder if it's because I'm just too dumb for the model or if the model is just terrible at English.
I'm not sure that telling it to "try explaining that again, simply and briefly" is helping my ego.
it's easy, just eat cake.
that was an attempt at monocle and top hat irony.
edit: how do you feel about paying 5% on every token's cost to stripe? it made me cancel, and sign up directly with a few providers.
its suggestions are the best way to get me to leave. not that i find myself there often, or stay long anyway. hn on the other hand...
You must be the only one 'round here without a stack of RTX PRO 6000s, 8 high, that you're not sure how to use.
The bar for what is worth bringing out of the cave gets higher every day. Unless you have a huge network of fans or a small network of foolhardy VCs, screaming into the market, with two million other voices, may as well be the void.
It's getting hard to even get a shrug.
I think the trillions are built on expectations that your employer won't need to pay you a salary anymore.
