Such a good comment. Thank you for providing that.
Re:Functional Programming in Coq on Thursday June 22, 2023 @11:32AM (#36433735)
Yes - I can also imagine a female programmer not being comfortable when saying that.
Re:On Having Enough Socks on Friday May 05, 2023 @09:02AM (#35828677)
I am in the same sock hell and have been for many years. I no longer believe that the sock pairing problem can be solved for me.
Re:Show HN: I collect domain names to help build them on Tuesday April 04, 2023 @11:59PM (#35449117)
Maybe you can explain how you can help on these very very different topics/domains/names?
Re:Show HN: My Failure Resume on Thursday March 16, 2023 @02:13PM (#35185926)
Holy sh*t. That list is outright insane. They should be allowed to retire and just drink cocktails or something. I would not be able to do a tenth of that even if would live 900 years. Amazing.
Holy sh*t. That is just beyond horrible. But it also shows how difficult it is to evaluate a stock. If a pension fund can't - then how should the average amateur investor do it.
What other banks have the same issue?
Wonder if anybody had seen it coming? And is about to do the next big short.
Re:How Confusion Spreads and Becomes Engrained (2017) on Sunday February 26, 2023 @11:18PM (#34952900)
The US mortgage market in 2005-2008. It was considered a good investment to buy these bonds. But eventually everything chrashed.
Re:Ask HN: What moonshots do you wish were being attempted? on Saturday February 25, 2023 @01:48AM (#34934502)
Fair tax. Today rich people/corps have many loop holes for avoiding tax. If that was fixed globally, individuals could pay less.
Re:Building Reliable Distributed Systems in Node.js on Sunday January 22, 2023 @09:38AM (#34477767)
Is this similar to apache camel or spring integration?
My bank has not leaked any of my private info. And it has not allowed other than me to use my account. I suppose their systems are subject to the same risks you listed. So it is possible - isn't it?
Re:There Is No Software Maintenance on Sunday January 08, 2023 @12:09AM (#34296237)
Yes it probably can be compared to car repairs. But often the programmers will promise that it will be much better to introduce the new hunken dakser reactivity framework. And this will then continue in the infinite scrum project.
Re:VanillaOS: Immutable Ubuntu-Based Linux on Sunday January 01, 2023 @01:48AM (#34204233)
If this comment is the truth it is just extremely funny.

How naughty of you!

Re:Twitter employees are bringing their own toilet paper to work on Saturday December 31, 2022 @07:55AM (#34196039)
The good thing about such a decision is that it is obvious that the person behind it is insane. So then everyone can act accordingly.
Re:Ask HN: Whats a Build vs. Buy decision that you got wrong? on Thursday December 29, 2022 @12:26AM (#34169835)
This comment is just too real and too precise.
Re:Show HN: Dog API on Tuesday December 27, 2022 @12:31PM (#34151105)
I suppose the style sheet for the site could be named dog-style.css?

Wait - maybe not a good name after all.

Re:Ask HN: Resources for Building a Webserver in C? on Sunday December 18, 2022 @09:17AM (#34037841)
Maybe redbean made by jart?
Re:Taylor Lorenz Banned from Twitter on Sunday December 18, 2022 @01:26AM (#34035498)
These random or maybe not so random suspensions are a good thing. They remind you of avoiding these platforms.
Re:Tell HN: Google is correlating location data to your IP on Sunday December 18, 2022 @12:48AM (#34035370)
In my case the location it shows is in most cases very wrong and also sometimes places I have never visited. Sometimes it changes during some minutes to other places hundreds of kilometers away. So in my case it is completely nonsense what is going on.
Re:Ask HN: What is the best advice you received in 2022? on Saturday December 17, 2022 @01:43PM (#34030792)
Maybe it would be better if you worked alone then. The advice you are responding to is much better.
Re:Medieval ship found in Norway's biggest lake on Monday December 12, 2022 @11:24AM (#33956507)
I think it is a very good recommendation. But it is worth adding that Sweden is a big country.

Edit: spelling

Re:How to create a more effective homepage on Sunday December 11, 2022 @08:45AM (#33943107)
That site is hilarious!
Re:Ask HN: How can I sell my app? on Sunday December 11, 2022 @07:32AM (#33942610)
I think the sum of apps on play and app store shows that it is not super easy to sell apps. Probably even more difficult for desktop apps.
When adding small features you end up jumping all over the place in all "layers". So a little change in controllers, services, repositories, entities. So I am not sure? This post mentions package by feature/component. But still seem to have this strict layered approach.
Is this hacking of a phone they have in their hands and connect it to a computer with a wire?
Re:McDonalds Event Driven Architecture on Thursday December 08, 2022 @01:28AM (#33904865)
I have not experienced any improvements with event driven architecture despite it was advertised with the same wording as this.
Re:Ask HN: Getting up after repeated failures? on Saturday December 03, 2022 @12:52AM (#33841043)
I think you would benefit from not blaming everybody around you. And then create your own business getting your own customers and getting them to pay you for what ever software you build. Maybe you will find that to be very easy and get very rich. Another possible outcome would be that it is not that easy and that you end up with a zero or a huge debt. But constantly blaming others is not solving anything.
Re:Why some feces float and others sink on Monday November 21, 2022 @11:48AM (#33694680)
I think it would be a good idea if they made an app with more info.

And maybe fecesbook would be a good name for such app.
