hello org-mode friend! I've been on a similar journey and over the last month I've just been vibe building a replacement for logseq. So far: native macOS, high polish (I was a Bear user before logseq), and uses pi-durable so I can launch an agent from any line.

HIPAA is not a joke, employees can be held personally liable for breeches. At Helix we take HIPAA very seriously
fantastic. could you please add a way to filter out a topic/person never want to read about?

How did you got end to end encryption working with CRDTs?
Re:Software engineers: consider working on genomics on Saturday November 19, 2022 @01:49PM (#33673294)
I started working at a genomics company about a couple of years ago and my experience is very different from the post. Although there might be a handful of bioinformatics tools that are quite old, the ones at the heart of of operations are worked on by teams and reasonably maintained, and although I agree with the headline that there's a lot of work to be done in the area - my perspective is a little different. Although this doesn't apply to all genomics companies, I'm at a company that has a lab, and the software we write makes the lab about 8x more efficient and the next generation of sequencing technology will bring sequencing costs down by about 5x. Meanwhile the science and literature keep pushing further and newer generations of physicians are putting a stronger emphasis on genomic counseling. Thanks in part to the power of viral sequencing data the government is starting to trust laboratories that bring valuable and actionable insights. I think all of those combined with the fact that CRISPR technologies are getting further along puts genomics in a unique position. TLDR; yes genomics is exciting and on the brink of something big, but no it's not a dumpster fire that needs saving. Oh and as a bonus - I get to work with really smart scientists and they are very friendly :)

Surge in inputs can be explained by the fact that we’re in a pandemic. Based on the investigation of the VAERS reports, what risks are you talking about?
hat soon to be in the ring https://gliss.fun :)
are you on any of those?
Historically I think licensing has been the biggest hurdle. Nowadays music is moving towards being commodified and licensing is less of an issue. Still to be determined whether or not it's possible to build a community around a fractured space, I'll report back when we launch :)
do you just Shazam the songs you like from the local college radio?
out of curiosity, how often do you do this? And once you discover something, how do you get it into your music app / playlist?
when I learn about an artist or song through a friend, I end up having a mental association between that person and the song/artist which feels good
Re:Show HN: Download videos, but only the parts you want on Friday October 15, 2021 @06:39AM (#28876303)
great work!
1. strangely these days I'm a lot more relieved to see subscriptions over one-time payments because those projects tend to have the funding to update their software.

2. agree, syncing is to a mobile device is required

Re:In Defense of Richard Stallman on Monday September 30, 2019 @07:52AM (#21114236)
> The word “assaulting” presumes that he applied force or violence, in some unspecified way, but the article itself says no such thing. Only that they had sex.

If someone appears to be having sex with someone that appears to be underage, the older person appears to be sexually assaulting the younger person. This is because a minor cannot legally consent which makes non-consensual sex forceful by definition, hence it is called assault.

In other words: rms was wrong, and now rms is gone.

Re:Ask HN: What sucks about where you live? on Tuesday September 25, 2018 @01:37PM (#18068551)
I can help:

Dallas is a city of suburbs, sprawl, and strip malls. Looking for an artisan? That'll be 30 minutes driving please. Driving everywhere means people don't have places to walk. And when you do walk, you're walking amongst dangerous, loud, and smoggy traffic.

There's a race for larger and larger homes in Dallas. Those homes take more energy to cool and heat as the seasons shift, and the larger footprint means the sprawl accelerates.

What do people do with the larger homes? They get lonely in them.

Hi, nitpick comment, but the boundaries of the countries on this map are not changing over the course of almost a century.

interesting point. enforcement came via government.
What about Telegram?
Open question: couldn't peer discovery be coordinated over a bitcoin like network?
Re:Ubuntu Edge funding level over time on Tuesday July 23, 2013 @12:36PM (#6091110)
The podcast to this blog entry http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2013/05/15/184208123/were-mak... goes through what the funding graph for their kickstarter project looks like. TLDR; level in the middle, spikes at the end.
Given all of the NSA/PRISM revelations as of late, wouldn't you want exactly the opposite of this?
