All true as of when I quit Ubuntu a couple years ago. Your interpersonal skills need work.

Debian is already on 6.12.115, the stable kernel from 3 days ago. Who knows what horrors were fixed?
Re:WTF Ubuntu? on Monday November 02, 2026 @12:37PM (#50340431)
Debian is, in every way that I know, superior to Ubuntu.

  - no snap nonsense where you can't turn off upgrades
  - stays close to upstream LTS kernels
  - does not carry around some ridiculous kernel patch set
  - no irritating adware on login
I switched after the aforementioned patch set broke containers and destroyed my server instance a couple years ago. Apparently nobody bothered to check containers before releasing the kernel.
Teachers' unions in the United States are dedicated to two things:

  - increasing pay and benefits for teachers to the maximum possible
  - reducing accountability for poor teaching to the minimum possible
Since many people foolishly believe that supporting teachers' unions is good for children, the results are predictable: very expensive schools that do a bad job.
Give up this mad idea, or else.

They bundled the fixes with a regular bugfix release, looks like.

Re:Claude reveals ECDSA curve origins on Saturday October 17, 2026 @06:21PM (#50135721)
The average citizen would be far better off if we all did so.
Re:Claude reveals ECDSA curve origins on Friday October 16, 2026 @03:41PM (#50123502)
I suppose so, but it's still the case.
Re:Claude reveals ECDSA curve origins on Friday October 16, 2026 @03:35PM (#50123393)
Sounds entirely reasonable to me. They tried to give some credit. The main contribution is the solution that Claude came up with.

Easy for you to say, if you're not paying the cost!
Documentation? In the video game industry? Surely you jest.

No, there aren't any iPads as cheap as that, at least not new.
Re:New Apple TV 4K on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @10:48AM (#50072624)
Doesn't seem worth the upgrade at that price. Siri still stinks in general.

I wonder what 'Apps Available from iPhone' means on their tech specs page. For example, the Apple TV app.

Thank you for the explanation. I was reacting to the statement that the economy and the people are the same thing.
Re:US Suspends Visa Program for Tech Firms Including Microsoft on Thursday October 08, 2026 @01:42PM (#50009120)
Yes, that is an accurate statement by him. As with many things, corruption and fraud in the visa process have grown over time and are mostly unremarked upon.
Re:US Suspends Visa Program for Tech Firms Including Microsoft on Thursday October 08, 2026 @01:16PM (#50008710)
This is an incredibly blinkered view. The economy is important, but there are many other factors as to whether a given policy is overall good for the citizenry or not.
