I know we'll all get infected, but at least we could try to detect it afterwards is my point

It's quite pathetic how a user is expected to navigate this landscape by being a good little sheep and just installing daddy's regular updates and nothing else. No access to check our own file system, because we're obviously too stupid to take charge of our own security. No malware scanning, no security tools, no indicators of compromise in Apple's consumerland. We are all hopelessly owned by the malware that we can't confirm or deny, with our tits out and dicks flapping in the breeze, just waiting to get infected.
That said, glad to see JSR and the Lab's good work being honored. One day things will be different, one can hope.

Oh boy of course they'll make you open every app's settings page individually to disable them one by one, and then have to go and do it again for each new app install after that like Siri. I don't understand why they can't just have ONE button to turn their garbage off, it's very user hostile

It’s hard to judge something that’s constantly changing, to make a final decision anyway. They exploit our good nature and milk the benefit of the doubt with military precision, leaving us confused, powerless and hooked on the update system of their products and services.

Like many too-big-to-fail outfits, Apple and Google's products are so ubiquitous in our life. Since they both never actually have a finished software product, it is difficult (if not impossible) to even evaluate it. We’re stuck waiting for their update, as the answer to any problem or question. They’re Bill and Teding us with their ability to manufacture reality
