Will either cause an outage next month?
Support is very poor, rackspace level at the moment.
CloudFlare will be abused even more. It’s IP ranges blocked and that will be the only enterprise difference- premium IP pool.
It’s now a Microsoft 365 user
Also how’s fastmail with calendar invites to companies on exchange? What would you use to replace teams? Zoom?
Insiders are pissed they don’t have billions of stock like other big tech founders.
.au, .us, .com, .net, .gov, .io, etc all have the same challenges.
- Engagement surveys captured staff feeling fatigued and under resources at entire org level
- Hard to hire for roles due to specialisation
- Team moving away from BAU work to projects
- Issues raised by external partner but team had other immediate work pressures
- Had to contact ex-employee that use to worked there to help resolve
- Once a year critical take just done by one team member
- Many IT operations tasks have sufficient external dependencies that it is impossible to tell – for certain that the task will be successful in production without doing the task in the production environment. - We've all been there.
Sounds like InternetNZ should actually outsource all of this to an external party and just focus on governance work.
They won't help themselves and just switch and wait for the other provider to fix.
I can totally see how CIOs and other tech savvy leaders in business really look at anything they use Google related and wonder to themselves if it might be wise to look at alternatives.
I agree with lot of comments in that Twitter thread.
I've found them extremely unreliable both in my free account (every failure takes 1-2 mins away from my 50 minutes!) and in my employers paid subscription so we self run but run into issues with not being able to scale runners enough to meet developers demands.
Its also super annoying that you can't use your own docker containers hosted on ECR on public runners (no way to provide auth)
Seems like SVB was scarified

So reading this, their SaaS SSL solution basically takes over your hostname if configured with a SaaS provider?
Does Cloudflare require any verification before hand?
Why pay $5 to fastmail when Microsoft offers heaps more.
I haven't seen any indication that demand for Tesla's or EVs in general are falling, is this just an attempt to sack everyone and re-hire when the job market is soft after an economic slowdown late next year?
Describe loops and other properties in Ansible and have it build out a complex Cloudformation template for it to deploy. Use an Ansible variable for your stack name so you update/delete an existing stack and your good to go. Could even break it down to environments so dev = smaller instances vs stage/prod etc.
It’s pretty hard to see what benefit these TLDs have to these Australian external territories and if ICANN should even allow them to exist.
Aside from Youtube I have very little in the way of relying on Google now.
Google drive is hard as the only way is to setup continuous Google takeout's or use a third party service for backups which the last time I looked several years ago.
We had some issues with Akamai WAF blocking things in PROD which only got caught when pushing to PROD so we added staging to Akamai now its closer to 1:1!
For example oracle e-business suite runs completely different with 900GB of prod data vs 100gb of staging data.
ASP.Net applications are slower talking to databases with 1600gb of MSSQL data in prod vs 40gb in staging vs 3gb in test etc.
DR performance different again because its scaled down version of PROD but has the same amount of data and traffic loads when it takes full production load.
Blog writer is taking the piss.
