People always assume he's been walking continuously for all these years, and it's understandable because the headlines are always written to imply that.
He doesn't. He walks some, marks where he stopped, takes a break, continues from where he left off.
Steam (and games) all work flawlessly. Even streaming VR to my Quest 2 and flatscreen to my TV works perfect.
I see this a lot, people somehow under the belief that high-skill/high-paying jobs will remain here and the low-skill/low-paying jobs stay over there. And then are somehow shocked and surprised when other people also want those high $ jobs. It's just such a tenuous grip on reality.
Just that, sleeping while in some VR world. There are plenty of "sleep with me" VRChat worlds (without the eroticism)
There's actually an even more common example that what you've described: water heaters. The cold inlet at the bottom and the hot outlet at the top prevent mixing, and the two waters of different temperatures can maintain their difference for a surprisingly long time.

There's been a decent amount of drugs that have been made via a brute force method, but it's a pretty physical process, usually pipetting a few hundred thousand compounds and samples. There's also a lot of drugs where we don't fully understand how they work.
This feels like an AI trap almost. A lot of the badness comes from people who don't want/can't put effort into it, so we all get a deluge of the sameyness.
Yeah, if the drain in the sink is clogged. US bathroom pipe is 1.25" which will (probably) lead to a 2" and 4" pipe eventually (depending on when, where, and how your house was built ofc). The hole in the sink leads to the same initial pipe.
They'll be fine. As the police often say, if you're not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to hide.
At that point though, it's like why. Reddit is, well, trash. It's barely worth visiting without an account, and if you're going to make me jump through hoops to visit, it's time to accept the message of "we don't want you here" and go somewhere else.
Well, yeah, people have been using that phrase for years, if not decades. I'm not sure if you were aware, but they actually trained Claude on human text, so it naturally sounds like the human text it trained off of.
Because it won't take twice as long, but 10x as long. There's typically a large rush on a new design, followed by a slow tick in sales. Meanwhile you have to pay to warehouse it, pay tax on the inventory, etc.
You're 75% correct, one of the 4 products does have an amp though.
You see that a lot in AI (and honestly, other discussions) where people with differing requirements are talking past each other.
Some people are listening to music as an experience, internalizing lyrics, empathizing with the feeling and vibes of the artist. Others are just wanting something pop-y as background noise while they do work. They come together and since they're arguing for different needs, the whole thing turns into a mess.
> This isn't without its risks to the mother and the child
> The result is unnecessary birth trauma.
Not trying to be snarky, but which is it? This is definitely a situation in which having a midwife there to advocate for you is an absolute plus.
It's replies like this that make me wonder which is more demotivating to artists. LLMs, or people screeching "it's ai" regardless of proof.
It has to be absolutely demoralizing to make something on your own, and have it immediately labelled ai by someone who can barely spell it.
somehow I suspect it was a bit more involved than: Claude, please solve Linear A.
Which censored prompts do you test with non-chinese models?
No religion on the list, I suppose that counts.
Your points are valid, but they're also on the wrong side of what I'm saying; however, you're speaking from the consuming side, I was talking from the producing side.
AI is never going to stop people from creating new things. Will it make it harder or different to make a living? Sure, but ai isn't the first thing to do that, nor will it be the last.
But making a living off of your art is incredibly, incredibly difficult, and always has been. If AI doubled, or halved, your chances of winning the lottery, it still wouldn't really change your odds of winning.
Is the next Terry Pratchett not writing because AI exists, or because they'll just get accused of being AI?
This is a little like saying no one will ever paint anymore because cameras exist.
It might be harder to make a living off art now (which...debatable), but at no point, ever, was it easy.
Yeah, and the fact that no one is doing "practice runs" on them is telling how serious any colonization effort really is. Zero chance of a successful mars city if we can't even colonize the trivial in comparison ocean.
It's just the "outline" of the controller/puck, it doesn't include internal features for the internals. You won't be building your own controller off these files (without a lot of work).
It's more helpful for making things that conform to the controller, like a holder or stand for your desk or carrying case.
Close the email client. No emails, no notifications.
In the mood for dealing with email, open client.
Fair, I was talking more the initial pregnancy use, but even still that further pushes my point that those examples have either never been considered perfectly safe, or have been in active normal usage for so many years that you really have to squint to say it's unsafe.
Those aren't really great examples, considering that Arsenic and Asbestos have been known to be harmful for centuries/millennia.
Thalidomide never even made it to use in the USA.
Fluoride being good for teeth was discovered by fluoride naturally being in the water already
Can't speak for the other two, but I hope you're not basing your fears on stuff like that.
No, because the Soviets have to in on faking the moon landing. They were also landing a spacecraft at the same time as the landings. To fake the moon landing you'd also have to fake the entire cold war.
Syncthing? I'm taking 'offline' to mean 'not requiring the internet', which means you can have plenty of computers!
They did though! From what I understand from people who made those profitable games is that Facebook funded, either though investments or grants
most vr games out there. Even ones not owned by the company (like beat sabre, batman, deadpool, etc).
The problem is, like someone else mentioned, the company itself. Facebook is a middleman company. other people make stuff, showcase it on one of their properties (insta, marketplace, whatever), and then go back to the people actually doing stuff.
Despite the shock at the amount of money meta spent on their version of the metaverse, I don't think they spent
nearly enough to accomplish their vision.
Meta, to the detriment of the market, tried too early in the VR lifecycle to own the market. They basically tried to become the iPhone and Apple in the year 1990.
Tell me, do you believe any singular company in the year 1990, with 100B to burn, would be able to create the iPhone, in any of its varations? Absolutely not, there too much research, too much to invent, too much to program and not nearly enough talent and money for one company to manage.
