Here's the thing, though: It's almost definitely a case of silent majority. The printer is pretty phenomenal and I've had excellent support from Bambu so far in New Zealand, no less.

This person speaks.. for themselves only.

> perhaps I'll make an exception for dialyzer

If your opinion is to disregard Elixir, then dialyzer shouldn't change your mind. It's pretty ineffective and painful to use.

That said, I'm a big proponent of Elixir; it's a great language and makes me happy to use it.

I detest the colours with the scroll. Awfully distracting.

2015 was the last year they worked well.
You need a high refresh rate to keep convincing your brain of the illusion. If you dip down to 60hz and below, VR sickness can be a real problem.
Re:When Asbestos Was a Gift Fit for a King on Thursday August 27, 2020 @04:57PM (#24298582)
Yes. Breathing it's fibers can cause serious disease and cancer. Asbestos was used as a common building material in New Zealand for insulation, roof tiles, ceiling tiles and texturing and more in the 1950-1990 period. If you do any renovation or changes that interact with asbestos, it basically has to be handled by a hazmat team.

https://ehs.oregonstate.edu/asb-when > When is Asbestos Dangerous?

Oh my goodness, you're my saviour. I spent a whole day last week debugging what looked like a caching issue with Ecto + Postgres. When the application ran a query, it'd eventually slow down to 600ms.. when I ran it in psql, always 10ms. My solution was to convert the query to SQL and run it manually which bypassed the plan caching Ecto does.

THANK YOU. I will absolutely be testing this tomorrow.

I think OP was saying that Safari treats "lax" as invalid, while "Lax" is valid. Note the casing.

> ...y'know what I find particularly nuts about this whole thing? That we only know about it because of that location icon in the status bar

It seems to me like discovering this from that status bar icon is a _good_ thing. It gives me more faith that the system isn't hiding particular types of calls from the user; that it's tying the system call to the icon being present.

Re:Elixir, Phoenix, Absinthe, GraphQL, React, and Apollo on Monday April 22, 2019 @05:05AM (#19717500)
> Maybe if I had more specialized team members it would get easier

It really would be easier. We are using this stack, and have separate backend and frontend devs. Each love their side of the stack. Being backend myself, I don't find the it too time consuming to get new entities going. However, I imagine if you were doing the whole stack and repeating ecto schema, absinthe schema, apollo queries, then it might get more tedious. I particularly enjoy how easy it is to modify the schemas once it's set up too. If we ever need to expose more data, it is usually done within minutes. There is a massive benefit in the forced standardization of GraphQL too. Being rigorous about standardizing APIs and how you do filtering, sorting, embedding, nesting and so on is tiring and a waste of time - you end up writing mini frameworks. Absinthe and GraphQL reduce this pain for us considerably.

> At the same time, countries that don't bother with stuff like that, but instead regulate who can own firearms much more stringently than US does - e.g. Czech Republic - are doing fine.

I think you'd have said the same thing about New Zealand a week and a half ago, yet here we are.

The article mentions that the searches are done in flight mode - so no cloud snooping.
I had an identical experience on an almost identical route a month ago. The lyft driver didn't stop the fare after dropping off at the hotel, making the final charge over $50. Thankfully Lyft amended the trip to reflect the true destination and it was resolved very quickly.
Re:A closer look at Google Duplex on Wednesday June 27, 2018 @12:07PM (#17409307)
And then imagine them shutting it down, and costing vendors billions to replace it.
Do you have a blog on setting this up per chance? I'm interested in reading more about IPFS (haven't looked at it since I first heard about months and months ago). Their website seems a bit light on the details bar a link to a whitepaper I haven't dared to look at yet ;)

And so they should when modern is not as efficient as the alternative.
This is mindblowing. "I can't believe" is so watered down it can not express the feeling felt when reading things like this. This past year has been insanity - this is just insanity..
Re:Facebook turned on face recognition silently on Tuesday February 27, 2018 @12:29PM (#16475675)
This has been discussed a lot, and all signs point to it being debunked.
Adrafinil has side effects on one's liver. It would be wise to do at least some cursory reading on it before taking this advice.
Re:How Slack Stays Secure During Hyper Growth on Saturday January 20, 2018 @11:21AM (#16193871)
There is a lot more to IRC than just channels and PMs - it's just that not many people have purpose to find out about anything else because channels and PMs work so damn well for their purpose.... communication.
My instant reaction is this is a terrible idea. Can't get past that feeling either. There are much better ways for people to monetize than use a tool like this. Cool tech - wrong reason.
React.

Who would've known people would come to like JSX? I used to think it was an abomination.. now it's great.

Ok..

Why does a waiter get tips? You're already paying for the service.

Sounds like your app should be.... functional.
How about a lack of thunderbolt 3? _The_ reason I can't buy one.

This is what I instantly thought of too. Will be keeping a close eye on this!
