It was just a couple of months ago where I found myself complaining that we shouldn't have to pay exorbitant amounts of money for friendship.
Last time I went to a bar a pretty woman and her friends decided to sit next to me only after I closed my tab and was getting an Uber to go back home. She seemed super nervous just sitting next to me and I assumed that if I butted into their conversation I'd get ignored like last time.
Cosplaying as a Soviet is so 1990s...
While J.B. Crawford's computer.rip is a newsletter and not a blog, I'd say he's popular enough to be on the list.
With a name like Snitch, it should be aimed at adversarial detection.
Just my two snitches.
It's a good idea for it to work both ways in case doxxing happens. I'm against KYC by any business from a security perspective: my PII shouldn't be available to criminals.
Remember we have about 20 years of poorly written articles along with a few well written ones for the LLM to be trained on. I'm confident that attempting to tell LLM from human writing is a waste of time now that the year is almost over.
Other than that I'd rather choose a comprehensive article than a summary.
That's the same algorithm Youtube has and is more blatant. Phone mics and your coworker's proximity does a great job at picking up things you've said even after disabling mic access plus airplane mode just by process of elimination.
I'll only use an LLM for projects and building tools, like a junior dev in their 20s.
Thank you for speaking to reality of situations that the majority of internet commenters never talk about. I think dang needs to put the HN member lock back on.
There has been a change in behavior in the past few years, in fact it used to be that you could only become a HN member that can comment thus vote by posting a select number of threads before being able to comment. This actually kept the community on the more intelligent, factual, and serious side. Now it's not so serious.
This used to be the only place that I could visit to get away from Reddit behavior. It seems like the more obscure a social gathering is, the less Eternal September it suffers.
If we succumbed to everyone's complaints we'd have a much more dumbed down version of everything. Consider if you had a concussion on the right temporal lobe and had hypergraphia as a symptom of the resultant temporal lobe epilepsy. I'd write everything I'd want to write regardless of who complains. Philip K. Dick was one such person.
You should be arsed to dig it up because your parent comment is insinuating disbelief or sarcasm with quotation marks.
Weird response here. Everyone expects at least some level of marketing for their software product to perform financially.
If you don't want to lose your money, don't become an angel investor.
There are jealous people who actively go out of their way to make 'smart' people miserable.
Kind of like how the author likely knows about the report and wanted to make a blog post about it without saying anything about or citing the report itself. IT seems like it but 80/20 can be found in lots of places, just like 60/40 can.
Make sure to eat at one with their food license displayed or readily visible. Botulism is not cool, and food trucks are already hard to regulate. I love food trucks though.
Where would those friends ever be in the first place? Everyone I know and see is on their phone doing the same exact thing. Nobody socializes except at work where they're forced to be.
Being judgy is a uniquely American trait that's become popular over the past 20 years.
Really glad NextDNS blocked my click.
The science hostile cohort is flourishing wherever christian fundamentalism is rampant, in some places most people are exactly this. A lot of the depressing things Carl Sagan mentioned in Demon Haunted World turns out to be true. I had thought that 20 years ago we were on our way to being a rational society but it turned out this notion was on its way out.
It should say "publish" because that's what happens after the fact, not what it's "doing" for an amount of time until it stops.
They won't be getting any new customers if that's their 'business model'.
There's more to it than the politicization of the people.
There is also deindividuation which occurs in homelessness. You are rarely referred to by your own name and ignored or practically invisible by everyone else except by those providing services. I was homeless for 6 years so this was apparent in a lot of that society. In red states there was a third cohort: those disowned by families for having a differing view than them so they got kicked out. It takes a minimum of one year to recover from the effects of homelessness, mentally. That process only begins after they are rehoused.
If you come up with an idea to piss others off, you'll succeed 90% of the time.
The other 10% are people who are just like you and know better.
Those folks are the ones who refuse to acknowledge and accept the fact that they were abused by family members while growing up, where those personality 'symptoms' are common. It is very well known that ADD and ADHD comes from abusive households. Nobody except psychologists and anyone in the mental health field would ever admit such failures in life. They will not accept the fact, and exaggeration and deflection of character faults into false medical diagnosis is what happens. Not very many doctors want to get screamed at by their patients (which would prove the doctor right) for telling them the truth of their own past, and besides, they're not even paid to tell them.
"Truth hurts, don't it" is a very true phrase. It's a very sick trend affecting Millennials and Gen Z alike, and contributes to other worse mental health and criminal outcomes.
It's not even new.
Somehow I get the feeling if they used the word 'mass' instead of 'blob', a lot more readers would take the subject seriously.
OpenAI shouldn't be everyone's parent yet it's more than willing to be that.
Honestly dopamine imbalances should be considered. Used correctly as a tool it's fine but too many people are using it as an Alan Turing machine to mitigate loneliness instead.
