No, I don't think I will give it time. UIs should nearly never be changed. It doesn't matter much whether or not it's an improvement. Don't monkey with other people's tools.

Different, yes. That doesn't mean researchers can do whatever they want. They obviously could not install cameras in bathrooms, for instance. That would be not only unethical but illegal.
Tracking the movements of a person throughout the day without their knowledge is, by most people's standards, creepy as all hell.
