> consumption is a perfectly valid hobby
No it is not.
It's so sad what white supremacy makes people do.
Were they infamous for it before 1948?
You're comparing a country with a 30%+ black/Mestizo component to a list of countries that are 90%+ white or East-Asian. The same kids who score highly in Finland or Korea, also score highly in the US. But because they comprise a lower % of the population, our average as a whole is lower than Finland/Korea.
The 99% of white Americans for whom all ancestors were from Europe, are European.
The US Census categories are incorrect.
Descendants of Europeans. It's not ambiguous.
It's universally acknowledged that men are more violent than women.
One of those sides has power and the other does not.
Is it possible that there are things people might rather do than spend 8 hours a day coding enterprise web-apps, for 30 years? I wish I had the option to self-select out. I would much rather spend time with our toddler. If my wife were to volunteer to take up a programming job, because she wanted to relieve the need for time and resources from me so I could do what I want- is that relationship best described as oppression?
> Men are way more involved in their families then they used to be.
What makes you think that?
> we are stronger working together than as factions or tribes.
"We are stronger working together" is what a tribe is.
Any set of people who choose to cooperate and work as a group will consistently dominate when in competition with people who act as individuals. It's less human nature and more the nature of any system with actors and competition, and unless you see sex going away the world will involve both. You can drop out of the race of life if you want, but I wouldn't count on others doing it anytime soon.
Free speech is the principle that the first amendment attempts to establish, but its not the same thing as free speech itself- any party using their power to restrict the exchange of information does so in opposition to free speech.
Amazon has not violated the first amendment, but they have violated free speech. It is not illegal to do so, but people often agree and disagree with actions on bases other than legality.
Its worth is measured in the degree to which it transfers money, resources, and power from people like you to people like the author, and words arranged like those that appear in this document have proven to be an effective tool for this.
>The prior probability of voter fraud is so low that it demands really incredible evidence.
The prior probability of voter fraud is the number of elections in which actors have engaged in fraud / the total number of elections that taken place. Consider any of the countless elections that have taken place around the world and throughout history. Do you believe that the number of them in which actors engaged in fraud is so low as to be incredible, when you think about countries and time periods that are not the country and time period you presently live in? Peruvian elections in 1960. Scottish elections in 1990. Zimbabwe in 1994. I'm just naming random countries/times here. What percentage of these do you think involved fraud? That's what the prior probability is.
Those aren't anything like the sort of questions involved in IQ tests. IQ tests rarely involve words at all, usually a series of geometric shapes where you're supposed to pick the next one.
Suppose Kim Kardashian disappeared tomorrow. How would my life better? If this man wasn't able to ask his question about bread, would there be more cars/houses/doctors/food in the world?
Seeing that someone is trying to conceal their setting is 100x sketchier than being outside.
I don't know if I'm reading your comment wrong but I would happily take that bet- I think most people would. Want to make it? The election result of California isn't a matter of probability; it's an empirical matter that the number of people who will vote for Biden in California far exceeds the number that will vote for Trump.
Suicide rates and mental health conditions are skyrocketing. The effect of all this push about "mental health" has been to convince more and more people to believe they have mental health problems. And adopting this label does not seem to benefit their lives.
It seems to be expected that people who have been earning an income for less time have fewer saved assets than people who have been working longer.
> What if a female gymnast wants to do the horizontal bar or other "male" events?
The same thing that happens if I want to be a movie star or heiress.
The tanks’ guns are disabled. They aren’t functional tanks in regards to the one feature that makes a tank a tank.
I’ve seen a few people on the internet who believe there are differences, but I’ve never met one in real life. And not for small sample size- the fact that there
aren’t differences has always been a common topic of conversation in every social setting I’ve been in- my classrooms, workplaces, hanging out with friends, etc. It’s amounted to hundreds (thousands?) of people who know that there are not mental differences between sexes, and none who believe there are. Every family member, every girlfriend, every professor, every coworker, etc.
But none of been willing to explain to me why we know this; when I ask they think I’m trying to make a rhetorical argument that here are differences, and react poorly. I’ve stopped asking them.
That's not the difficult part for me, it would easily just be another Bayesian prior like occupation, style of dress, language, etc. It's just that the odds of me being right and everyone else in the world being wrong about such a simple, universally understood thing are so unlikely that it's almost certain that my reasoning is wrong.
