I don't understand the hype because I'm out of the loop. Is the only advantage the lower hardware requirements, thus cost? Is there something I'm missing?

What does Surface Linux get you? I installed standard Fedora on my Surface Go 2 and have never had any complaints.
Re:Cloudflare Registrar now supports .dev domains on Thursday August 03, 2023 @02:14PM (#36989579)
namecheap also supports .dev. I purchased mine there years ago.
Re:The origin story of our new ortholinear keyboard on Monday February 28, 2022 @01:05PM (#30502907)
If you click through to the previous article, it says they'll be launching a kickstarter campaign in spring.
This is interesting. Just the other day I did a search on DDG and had the same thing happen, a full page of .it TLDs that vaguely matched what I was searching for. This is the only time I have seen that and unfortunately I don't remember what search terms I used, probably something related to my recent video card issues.
I actually built my first mechanical keyboard hand wired, it helped understand the basics of how it all worked.

I don't remember if it was this exact guide, but I'm pretty sure I was following Matt3o's guide when I did it: https://matt3o.com/hand-wiring-a-custom-keyboard/

edit: it may have actually been this one: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6050&start=

Re:Setting Up Cloudflare Argo and Access on a Raspberry Pi on Monday November 29, 2021 @04:12PM (#29385348)
I used namecheap to register my domain, and they have an option for dynamic DNS without ongoing fees (besides domain fees, I guess). I would be surprised if other registrars didn't have something similar.

You might also want to look at the mostly printed CNC, which uses standard conduit/pipe for the frame.

Re:Akamai Edge DNS was down on Thursday July 22, 2021 @01:57PM (#27922129)
Bitwarden offers this as well, but I don't really understand why you would want it. If someone compromises your password manager, 2FA is now worthless. Or am I misunderstanding how it works?

I used to use magnet on the mac, which does hotkeys, but not sure about mouse driven.

The article credits that video directly for inspiration.
Re:Ask HN: What entry-level telescope should I choose? on Wednesday February 24, 2021 @10:12AM (#26250689)
r/telescopes has a pinned post about picking a telescope, and weekly threads covering this same question. It was a great resource when I was looking to make the same jump.

The changelog [0] does a better job of explaining what it does than the website itself does

A different view of the same data, linked in another HN thread a few months ago

long url to get you in the right area: https://rammb-slider.cira.colostate.edu/?sat=goes-17&z=3&im=...

yes, thank you. I'll have to read over it again and refresh my memory.
It reminds me of the TRS-80 model 100. I seem to remember reading a story linked here a while back regarding the 100 and how popular it was for journalists to write stories on, and maybe be uploaded via modem to the editor when completed? (I might be remembering this incorrectly)
I think it's a python Qt app.

There is also an open issue for tracking a replacement UI in Go

wow, this looks great!
there is a little bit of info on the starlink site: https://www.starlink.com/

The best I can find is while holding the space button, use another finger to "click" then drag the space to select.
He's been scarce for a while, but Clickspring on youtube has a series on rebuilding the Antikythera Mechanism. It's quite fascinating.

What benefit is there to have this as an extension, as opposed to a lightweight page being served up?
Re:BASIC Computer Games on Tuesday April 09, 2019 @03:47PM (#19618275)
There is a project to port games from that book (among many other Usborne books) to python: https://yorkshire4.readthedocs.io/en/latest/
