As a private company, don't all of the mentioned platforms have the option to just boycott the state entirely? Just say no Texas IP addresses will receive access, as to not trigger any frivolous lawsuits. I imagine if any single one of the mentioned 50M user companies threatened to pull out like this there would be such massive public outcry that this law would be immediately reversed. And for those that say that Texans are a large part of the userbase, I'll just mention that the EU(and others) Require various forms of "censorship" (hate speech, calls to violence...) So really it's most of the world, vs just Texas on this.

The republican president told his top general to deal with BLM Protesters and "just shoot them". I don't know how you are supposed to hold a conversation with someone who still supports him.

Am I missing something here? Is there specific evidence showing that sky intended its service to be used by criminals? If not this should be very worrying. A company offering secure 1 to 1 communication shouldnt be liable for what that content is. From my understanding this has nothing to do with content in the public space. What is the difference to something like signal, or telegram?
This article raises several gold points. I did get the feeling from the authors language that they are really pushing the point that the progressive plan isnt working. Which addmitedly its not. What the article lacks however is any solution. You can rag on all you want about the problem, but what this article is implying is that the steps taken in San fran are terrible, but what alternative is there. Does the author imagine that a higher police presence, the breakup of homeless/tent communities and a higher incarceration rate will slow the spread of the virus? Perhaps, although imo they have a better chance of slowing covid-19 in tent cities than in prison or jail. Its fair to critisize the actions of the government, but at least say what they could do better instead of just pointing a finger and laughing at what hypocrites progressives are.
