Tetsu Kasuya actually also has a similar method

Reddit’s recommendations can be sharply contrasted with YouTube’s, which I frequently find useful and novel.
I can buy frozen vegetables and fish at the supermarket, which are packaged only in paper boxes (no plastic inside). For example : https://www.vomar.nl/g-woon-Tuinerwten-Extra-Fijn-450-g
Re:Apple Music Overtakes Spotify in U.S. Subscribers on Friday April 05, 2019 @12:38PM (#19584302)
I remember using Apple Music on an android phone and windows pc when the service launched. As far as I know there are no official options for using Apple Music on linux.

The display in the images looks quite sharp - resolution of 1280x1024! Not too awful by today’s standards. Lenovo’s thinkpad x280, currently available with a retail price above 1000 euro, comes with a 1366x768 display as the default option.

These are all linked at the top of his homepage https://stallman.org/

Re:Supporting employees engaged in open source on Tuesday February 12, 2019 @08:47AM (#19143364)
That was exactly my reaction. I was hoping that they would be providing time or compensation to employees working on open-source. Adding CoCs is much less impressive, though the legal support is potentially valuable.

I also use Telegram's desktop app. I wouldn't call it lightweight, but it has the features you list without the resource demands of electron. Dash is currently using more memory on my laptop.

Medium is shockingly bad. I see absolutely no value in this service any more.

That might come following legal advice or action. I can understand erring on the side of caution here.

What is specifically fascist about this?
Re:Alarm as China eases 25-year ban on rhino and tiger parts on Tuesday October 30, 2018 @10:50AM (#18336988)
>the global rise of fascism

This is only happening for an extremely loose and almost meaningless definition of fascism.

This is a good interview on the subject you mention http://www.econtalk.org/bent-flyvbjerg-on-megaprojects/

Makes me think of Peter Thiel's comments here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Q26XIKtwXQ
I started using an iPhone, partially to get away from google services.

I don’t know for sure if I can trust Apple with my data, but on the balance of probabilities I feel slightly safer with the company that makes its revenue from hardware sales, vs the company that makes its revenue from advertising.

Re:Remember when a glass of wine a day was good for you? on Sunday September 23, 2018 @03:32PM (#18052714)
Humans have been making alcohol since prehistory. There are plenty of breweries, distilleries, and vineyards in Europe and Asia that have been continuously active for centuries.
I don’t think it’s useful to describe ‘Europe’ like this. From country to country you can have large differences in availability of candidates, expected salaries, immigration laws, and regulations and customs around running a business.

>IMO almost nobody is writing microservices with spring boot because its so gigantic.

I've encountered plenty of spring boot microservices in my work and, from what I hear of other companies, it's not particularly rare.

Most of the time, if you have a team that's productive in Spring, a manager or lead will be happy to spend some extra memory and get more features shipped.

>All of that because of a fantasy book where people had supper and they happen to be 13 at the table.

Your link doesn't state that. It mentions the last supper as a potential but unlikely origin of 13 as an unlucky number.

I wonder if some system like a deafloop could help with these experiences.

I assume that most blind or vision impaired people are already carrying smartphones; perhaps some way of providing location hints through the phone could help a visitor.

I bought a used x230 recently. My only gripe has been the washed out display - I should give this a go. Otherwise the performance is very good for a machine that was so inexpensive.
