Good luck to the Perl function Text::GenderFromName()

Maybe it needs the birthday

Re:GPT-6.1 Terra on Monday October 26, 2026 @02:52PM (#50249040)
They say it has "A significant step up on factuality and coding". My browser is underlining "factuality" in red. AI hallucinations or hallucinatiality are still a big problem in my experience.
Idiocracy
You're aren't looking at all factors here. I look at solar and think its beautiful for what its displacing.
Exactly. Many years ago people used to use C `struct` for objects but then that was formalized as `class`.
Re:Tiny Little Office on Thursday October 15, 2026 @10:07AM (#50103900)
Anyone know what language or framework this was written in?
Re:Tiny Little Office on Thursday October 15, 2026 @10:07AM (#50103894)
Often pages say "made with love in <place>" which seems over the top to me.

Its odd that some words have a squiggly red underline in that image.
Re:Knuth Reward Check on Saturday October 10, 2026 @12:28PM (#50034463)
The error was saying that "infinitely many alphabets can be generated" but there is a finite number of parameters which have a finite range of values. If Knuth had just written "a humongous number of alphabets" he would be correct.
Maybe non-Americans would keep a baseball bat there
Re:Animated ASCII Art for Web Pages on Thursday October 08, 2026 @08:12AM (#50004872)
Yeah, the webpage doesn't have the ASCII in it. It's images.
Re:Questions for Believers in AI Consciousness on Monday October 05, 2026 @03:32PM (#49969406)
One way to decide might be something like the Turing Test. If the AI you are talking to can conceive you that its conscious then it is.

Re:A 20-year-long permanent cookie: America.gov and tracking on Friday October 02, 2026 @12:17PM (#49935254)
Of course, America.gov uses "SI". From its FAQ: America.gov uses SI to find and explain information from official government sources. SI can make mistakes, so check the sources included with each answer before making an important decision. To report a problem, select the feedback button below the answer and describe what was incorrect or out of date.
Re:Using any C++ library in Godot on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @08:56AM (#49892428)
A big issue. If you can't ship a library its basically useless.
If I remember right, it was memory safe - something C/C++ has yet to achieve.
Re:I don't want the details on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @09:32AM (#49815891)
A Senior Vice President of ENGINEERING doesn't want the technical details?
Re:Can gzip be a language model? on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @10:04AM (#49801496)
There would be some overlap with business sports analogies - eg team huddle.
Re:Can gzip be a language model? on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @10:02AM (#49801471)
Or maybe make a list of the most used 1000 words in each language. And see which list has the most occurrences.

This seems to be the language's main page https://vlang.io/
Re:The Relation Between Mathematics and Physics by Paul Dirac on Thursday September 17, 2026 @07:59AM (#49739507)
If an article is a few years old then it could be out-of-date. But if an article is almost 100 years old then its classic.
It somewhat odd that systems don't have a call to tell you how many files are in a folder.

Re:Playa Phone on Monday August 31, 2026 @11:48AM (#49511178)
I looked but I don't see how it works. How does it get power? I suppose it uses a some single board computer and VOIP.
