I do think there's a decent case to be made that this will be the case for the foreseeable future, and perhaps the mythology part is beyond that.

Although as soon as I wrote 'foreseeable future' I came to the realization that this is far far far less far out than it used to be. Which might mean I simply agree with you.

I just keep oscillating between "wow this is amazing and exciting and I can do so many things" and "but so can everybody else and what even is my scarce set of skills anymore?"

On the other hand, I seem to be getting a lot more mileage out of all this new tooling than many of my peers, so there's something.

I think the greater concern should be the increasing viability of spinning up your own personal version of any SaaS product, especially if you constrain it to only the parts you need. These products are made to appeal to as broad a user base as possible, and a lot of personalization is missing by default. Users don't have to sacrifice personal needs due to software scarcity anymore.

How does antitrust law handle when a company's technology increasingly approaches the general ability to do the job of every other technology? My guess is not very well.
Did it search for existing research and documented attempts at the problem before starting on the solution?
