Re:Why Trolls Won in 2016 on Saturday January 07, 2017 @12:32PM (#13345303)
I haven't visited gizmodo in a while, but it looks like they're no longer about tech.
Re:Why HTTPS for Everything? on Monday January 02, 2017 @12:16PM (#13302531)
Might need to read up on modern ciphers. They are protected against this kind of attack.
Re:IPv6 Support for EC2 Instances in Virtual Private Clouds on Thursday December 01, 2016 @11:59PM (#13086159)
At my company, we used to use IPv6 internally and IPv4 publicly for future proofing and easier migration to a all IPv6 environment. Instead of changing the entire infrastructure we just had to change the gateway.
Re:2016 Retina MacBook Pro Caveats on Tuesday November 22, 2016 @04:08PM (#13017676)
The cables or ends should almost be colored blue. It might help if there was a color code to all the cables and ports
Re:Introducing a new kind of Wi-Fi system on Tuesday October 04, 2016 @03:14PM (#12638456)
Anyone notice they are using their new TLD?
Sounds like people that buy these shoes are the people who want to be different and really stand out.
Re:Show HN: How many days until? on Friday September 23, 2016 @10:50AM (#12565012)
I always search on Google "days til {event or date}" and the first link is always this site. This site is a big time saver
I have a couple of 4k LEDs in my kitchen, but also have much warmer LEDs in other places around my house. The reason the kitchen is different is so it feels sterile and clean. The cooler light gives this appearance more than warmer light. I guess the same reason many places have white counter tops.
Re:Commanding a Tesla Model S with the Amazon Echo on Monday May 02, 2016 @01:44AM (#11609398)
Not sure if you're interested, but I've got a couple of my lights hooked up with Google Now so I can say "Ok Google, turn the living room lamp on" and also when I connect to my wifi network and the sun has set it'll turn my living room lamp on.
Re:The remarkable accuracy of the Trinity College clock on Saturday April 09, 2016 @03:08PM (#11462770)
I just did a quick Google search and found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jz9nxzgtBaU

It's wound up like any other old pendulum clock.

I would stay away from anything Zigbee. It has become a complex mess
Re:Native Mac Notifications Comes to Chrome Stable on Tuesday April 05, 2016 @04:32PM (#11434118)
The problem is discovery. How are normal users suppose to understand the web as notifications now?
Re:On asking job candidates to code on Tuesday March 15, 2016 @05:38PM (#11293215)
What school did you go to? If you don't mind me asking.
Re:Facebook's new front-end server design on Friday March 11, 2016 @10:10PM (#11271184)
I don't understand your complaint. Out of all the articles I've read lately this page seems to be easiest to read. It focuses on just the content and formats it well.
Re:Chrome Music Lab on Thursday March 10, 2016 @12:46AM (#11257547)
Disable ad-blocker if you have one.
Re:Ask HN: What will IPV6 migration actually look like? on Friday March 04, 2016 @05:21PM (#11227266)
What do you mean scraping?
Re:The absolute horror of WiFi light switches on Wednesday March 02, 2016 @02:31PM (#11212335)
Another +1 for Ubnt mFi. I'm running 2 of them in my apartment for the last 3 months with no problems.
Re:Self-Documented Makefile on Monday February 29, 2016 @09:48PM (#11200476)
I agree, don't break the normal expectations, but they could've done much much worst.
Re:DuckDuckGo ES6 Cheatsheet on Monday February 22, 2016 @06:57PM (#11155359)
I agree, I would love to have a printable version

Re:Reverse-Engineering Google Nest Devices on Monday January 25, 2016 @04:53PM (#10970235)
The nest thermostat seems to use firebase.com API from my research.
Re:Ipv6 traffic just shy of 10% of total on Wednesday December 16, 2015 @08:28PM (#10748849)
That isn't right. "The graph shows the percentage of users that access Google over IPv6." So the graph shows the percentages of users who accessed Google over IPv6.
Re:Ipv6 traffic just shy of 10% of total on Wednesday December 16, 2015 @08:24PM (#10748831)
Honestly, if an entire datacenter is using a single /64 it sounds like they are doing something wrong. It's as easy to get a /48 with 65k individual /64 (one for each customer) as it is to get a single /64
Re:ES7 Proposal: The Pipeline Operator on Sunday December 06, 2015 @03:57PM (#10686569)
This should be how it's done, simplistic, nothing new to learn, easy to read.
Re:How is NSA breaking so much crypto? on Wednesday October 14, 2015 @11:49PM (#10391232)
Run your private key through the second command here: http://etherhack.co.uk/asymmetric/docs/rsa_key_breakdown.htm...
Re:IPv6: It's time to get on board on Tuesday October 06, 2015 @04:22PM (#10342055)
Explain how these companies will be able to track you better with IPv6. I would think it's the other way around since each device has (normally) a /64 possible addresses to use and routinely moves to a new address/holds multiple addresses
Re:Node v4.0.0 on Tuesday September 08, 2015 @03:43PM (#10187783)
Use your package manager to update then...
Re:Node v4.0.0 on Tuesday September 08, 2015 @03:25PM (#10187675)
Can't wait to start using ECMA6 natively
Re:Node v4.0.0 on Tuesday September 08, 2015 @03:23PM (#10187662)
Exciting to see node moving so quickly
Re:A re-introduction to JavaScript on Saturday May 09, 2015 @11:18AM (#9516597)
I've only been here for a couple of months and this was nice to see.
