This seems pretty serious, but I wonder if there is a way to measure how many systems are affected by this. Does anyone have telemetry on how many Runas configs are set up this way? How would someone collect this data?
Is it just me or did the OP just reinvent Weight Watchers points?
> Some jobs simply carry with them the understanding you are going to be "used up" by participating. Wrestlers, boxers, hockey players, and now footballers. Some men are willing to destroy themselves in pursuit of wealth and fame, and it's difficult to say it's our job as a society to overrule their choices about their own bodies.
I think one of the more interesting comparisons starts when you look past professions that promise fame and fortune, and start looking at jobs like firefighting, police work, and military service. I would argue that there is a similar progression of personnel (as evidenced by earlier retirement and pension ages for these professions) but the pot of gold at the end of rainbow is less celebrity and more a consistent job and service to one's community. Where do those professions stand on the spectrum?
Our sincerest apologies that things slipped through. We were able to identify you based on the description above, and I'll personally follow up in hopes of making amends.
Last month was our first time posting in the HN Hiring thread, and we didn't know how much volume we'd get. We responded in a very ad-hoc fashion, without implementing enough process around it. After some promising candidates came through the HN pipeline last month, we built out a bit more process for this month -- your feedback is very valuable and we'll do our best to prevent similar failure modes from happening again for other candidates.
Given the microUSB ports in the third and fourth images, I'd say it's likely.
Not a single mention for Battleship, the game that (I would warrant) introduced most current American 20-somethings to the concept?
I don't think that's true; it's really more about learning the lingua franca of a different world. Style, hobbies, etc. I didn't know what "rowing crew" was until I got to college, and to be honest, I still have no idea how lacrosse is played.
I have; it was a very solid portrait of one portion of the low-income/high-achieving cohort.
What most of these articles fail to mention is that there are three aspects to the traditional socioeconomic diversity narrative: low income, race/ethnicity, and familial educational achievement. As an Asian American whose parents both had PhDs, I've been in the unique position of having only one of the three factors affecting me.
Speaking as a lower-income student who went to an Ivy League university, appearing more similar to those in power is an entirely different thing than becoming an "arse-licking sycophant".
I'd argue that going to a so-called "elite" institution is more akin to learning a language by immersion.
My main issue with them is the small target area. Is there a significant practical challenge to make a Qi charging area that's maybe 5 times what the small chargers are? Alignment, perhaps, or power waste?
FF 37.0.1 on Ubuntu 14.04 reporting in with the same issue.
I see the same issue and I'm running FF 37.0.1 on Ubuntu 14.04.
+1 for the M3800; running one with Ubuntu 14.04 for work right now and have no complaints.
How small? I've got a Dell Precision M3800 (I think same chassis as their XPS 15) which ticks all of the boxes you mentioned but in a 15 in form factor.
YMMV, but I've got Ubuntu running stably on a Dell Precision M3800. Very solid laptop if you're okay with the 15 in screen form factor.
I worked with QuestBridge during college, and they're making strides towards solving the outreach and awareness problem:

While some of the podcasts seemed to be a bit fluffy, I always appreciated the Structure Show as a survey of where infrastructure software was. Any suggestions of similarly aimed content to subscribe to?
Maybe it's that you want to stop after "found"? Leave it as: Alan Turing's notes found.
Seconded, would love to use this with my existing FF workflow.
I assume he means generics.
Somewhat related:
"The best ping story I've ever heard was told to me at a USENIX conference, where a network administrator with an intermittent Ethernet had linked the ping program to his vocoder program, in essence writing:
ping goodhost | sed -e 's/.*/ping/' | vocoder
He wired the vocoder's output into his office stereo and turned up the volume as loud as he could stand. The computer sat there shouting "Ping, ping, ping..." once a second, and he wandered through the building wiggling Ethernet connectors until the sound stopped. And that's how he found the intermittent failure."

Great demo. I really appreciate the interactivity.
Is there something similar for antialiasing?
Isn't this article from a while back? What's the prompt for it now?
EDIT: Yes, about two years ago: 10/24/2012
Thank you! I never knew what those were called.
