gerrymandering is not possible with Brasil electoral system
> Surely the probability is much higher than 0
I genuinely have no idea how to even start calculating this probability. How would we do it? Is there reliable data on honeypots?
Because only a fraction of people would double check (AI or otherwise), AI making it easier to flood the zone with fine tuned spam actuallu has the opposite effect. We're seeing this at play at a large scale anywhere an election is happening right now. The narratives are even less truthful than before.
why is this downvoted? are any of those not accurate?
I don't agree with the guy necessarily but he's right, this is the type of change you're not gonna slowly convive people to, there needs to be some schock value involved. Also, if you accept his framing, eating meat is akin to genocide not murder. People tend to have strong reactions to that.
> the preventable “model gets stuck” class of annoyances has not been fixed quite yet
I thought it was just me. The damn thing get sucked when standing up my applications like half the time
Can you link to the discord thread? I'm very much interested and I'll be double check my usage vs. their rates.
> Basic internet response to everything is that when something essential involves something bad, we should forget the nuance and use slogans "X is BAD".
no, the default internet response is to try and be a contrarian arguing minor points while missing the whole societal context and leaning into weird word games etc while pretending like that makes you the adult in the room and your opponents are "emotional", "don't know what they're talking about", etc. Which is basically half this thread (or this whole forum for one).
oh shit, it's really pretty, I wasn't expecting that
recognizing emotion is not the main thing for therapy, having a human on the other side is the only essential
Crónica de una muerte anunciada is such a great book
always the same response: "you're holding it wrong"
the geopolitical takes on this website are something else man. I would say don't bother, but letting this type of rhetoric go would also be unfortunate
described this way, his vision sounds more like an excel spreadsheet than an agent
> Building the product was never the hard part
this is an absolutely insane take
> Except, in this case the competitors are power hungry dictators who would kill you if they were rich enough to get away with it.
I'm not sure what side are you talking about here.
It wouldn't be a stretch but only it the rest of the investigation didn't happen and we knew absolutely nothing else about Cambridge Analytica or Facebook. As that is not the reality we live in, you could read more about the case or not let you biases show so clearly.
> instead of chastising me
Oh quit clutching your pearls, he was perfectly civil.
You're the one trying to downplay things we know weren't at all covered in full by these emails (and we've known that for quite a long time). And know about them since you're downplaying them in other comments in this thread (things like exploring the quizz apps and how Facebook knew CA had exploited the API since 2015, how CA initially said the data was for academic purposes, etc).
The latter part of your comment ("how far should we go, the invention of the printing press?") shows me you're not only crying about being corrected but being disingenuous to push a narrative based on lies. Since you're doubling down and running cover for Facebook/CA/Trump's campaign all over the thread it suggests there's more than plain stupidity and dishonesty as motives.
isn't nitter decentralized?
you misunderstood me, I was responding to a2ff6eeb0 saying he agreed with the OP
> I suspect this is mostly due to being pretty far out on the pointy bits of various bell curves.
this is the most cringe, pick me, "look how I'm not like the other girls" thing I've ever read on this forum
> I optimistically expect to witness the advent of a global 'panacea' in my lifetime thanks to AI's efforts
this is a religious belief, maybe you should stop to really examine that (because it might be unintentionally so), but just know that it is obvious to anyone reading these words (anyone who is not mesmerized by technology)
how would a single node system survive the failure of its only node?
maybe you're on European tzs? the sentiment changes quite a bit with who's awake at the time a thread reaches the frontpage
I don't particularly agree with DoD instance on this matter but look, they are not a regular customer, they do not pay regular customer prices and you get a lot in return for providing your services to them (think Boeing, Lockheed, Chrysler). The tradeoff is that now, you are commited to their vision of national security. Such are the Faustian bargains of the military-industrial complex.
europeans certainly did make their politics everyone else's problem for centuries (we're talking every other continent at this point), but certainly the cookie banner is not even comparable, right?
you're on one of the most pro AI spaces on the whole internet and yet you're still crying about "the hn crowd", what a bizarre distorted perspective
> He compared Visual C++ 6's debugger on hardware from the time to current Visual Studio's debugger on current hardware, and found the former much faster when performing the exact same tasks on the exact same project file and code files.
this shouldn't be right, wtf
