Re:Instagram Is Facebook Now on Wednesday December 01, 2021 @06:12PM (#29410361)
Social media companies are trying too hard. People just want a chronological feed of things they followed. Nothing more. Stop trying to add shit people don't want.
It really should have Typescript as well (optionally, that is)
This isn't the Fox News comment section. Nobody cares what you think.
What an authoritarian mindset.
Re:Betting the Farm on the Drought (2015) on Tuesday September 03, 2019 @05:08PM (#20871197)
What rights are you referring to? Are those actual rights, or make-believe rights specifically conjured up to discriminate against minorities and groups you don't agree with?
Re:Betting the Farm on the Drought (2015) on Tuesday September 03, 2019 @04:48PM (#20870993)
"terrified of those crazy conservatives" - people who want to deny me my rights as a human being, including the right to life.

"terrified of those crazy liberals" - people who want to ensure I have my rights protected, and my wellbeing.

Please don't pretend that both sides (or even the "extremes" of the sides) are the same.

Really sad that the top comment here is from a climate change denialist.

Are you aware that that site is a well-known climate change denialist disinformation site?

And what's wrong with porn and blogging about genders?
Re:Fighting persistent Lyme disease symptoms on Tuesday July 23, 2019 @03:37PM (#20509568)
The article mentions how unreliable testing for Lyme is.
> show indirect displeasure with the conditions Hawaiian natives are currently living in

Is that indirect? This thing is well funded, and obviously people feel like their interests are more important.

Re:Defining Public Interest on Twitter on Thursday June 27, 2019 @01:43PM (#20296729)
This is hardly a serious example of being Orwellian. Out of all the good examples, this isn't one of them.
Re:Einstein's Science Defied Nationalism and Crossed Borders on Wednesday June 26, 2019 @03:07PM (#20288121)
The "demos" or people would be any freely associating group of people, which isn't necessarily defined by borders.
Re:Einstein's Science Defied Nationalism and Crossed Borders on Wednesday June 26, 2019 @03:06PM (#20288116)
Socialism at the time was inherently international.
I wouldn't, because that would be horrible...
Re:Outcry as Australian police search public broadcaster on Wednesday June 05, 2019 @11:59AM (#20105725)
I'm pretty amazed that people on this forum are so quick to jump on the side of an authoritarian right-wing government over press freedom.
Re:Flying-V: Flying long distances energy-efficiently on Tuesday June 04, 2019 @11:44AM (#20096075)
Why? That's a perfectly quantifiable claim.
What kind of deranged argument is that?
Re:Gab will become a Mastodon fork on Thursday May 30, 2019 @10:19AM (#20051362)

I just did a cursory glance at Gab and I already found 4 antisemitic posts and that was just on the first page.

> mostly politics and mostly far left

You're upset that your friends have different political opinions than you? And you're blaming Facebook for this? Why?

Free-market capitalism and crony capitalism are subtly different in that way
Re:Redesigning GitHub Repository Page on Thursday February 28, 2019 @06:34PM (#19276499)
I like it. The commits per file don't make sense in the current design, and the tab hierarchy doesn't make sense. I don't like the "flat" redesign though, it was better before.
This is an arms race that Spotify will loose.
Re:The Economic Viability of Mars Colonization (1998) on Thursday October 11, 2018 @04:55PM (#18196963)
This is super out of date. A lot has changed in our understanding of the livability of mars.
Re:London mayor Sadiq Khan calls for second Brexit vote on Sunday September 16, 2018 @03:08PM (#18000487)
The role of politicians in a representative democracy is to act as a moderating force against the tyranny of the majority.

The pro-brexit camp has been shown to be full of lying propagandists. Another vote seems necessary.

Re:PyPy.js: Python in the web browser on Wednesday August 22, 2018 @11:39AM (#17819454)

So pretty much like every Python project then. What's happening to the Python community?

How is that ironic? It sounds like the problem was self-inflicted.
Peter Lowe's list is notoriously overzealous and it's enabled by default. It breaks countless websites and I found other lists to be better.
