News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

Sounds good, what is the typical workflow aggregating sheet sets in question for a certain phase? I assume user collates and drops for analysis?
where would my firms documents end up (on whos servers) to do this checking? I dont know how any firm would just hand out their cd's just like that?

Or is being that lax normal these days?

Aside: this field is insanely frustrating, the chasm between clash detection and resolution is a right ball ache...between acc, revizto, and aconex clash detection (and the like)..the defacto standard is pretty much telling me x is touching y....great...can you group this crap intelligently to get my hi rise clashes per discipline from 2000 down to 10? Can you navigate me there in revit (yes switchback in revizto is great) but revizto itself could improve.

News just in...bassists can alter timbre by touch!? I agree, can these scientists seriously go and do some real work? What an embarassment.

In same industry, our head of customer relations was asked recently, why did we award the job to x company? His reply hilatiously was: "i had lunch with him last, thats really how it works", made me chuckle. You must grease the wheels...always.

Look up a disbanded group called Shulman. Also...stop using spotify :)
Sex sells, so...training on porn makes tonnes of sense.

Fees, ui changes upon ui changes, ignoring community requests...

Discogs was amazing, its sadly now a shit show. I refuse to buy from it or add to its database any more.

Re:Ask HN: Good non tech companies to work at on Sunday July 13, 2025 @08:20PM (#44555089)
Revit houses in medium sized firms are difficult nut to crack. Im sure tier ones have in housr swe's working on making revit less cumbersome.
Re:Ask HN: Good non tech companies to work at on Saturday July 12, 2025 @11:41PM (#44547295)
Agreed. Im in Aec and the amount of stuff i see ripe for swe to dig into is plenty. Youll need to convince directors youre worth it.
Re:Jank Programming Language on Wednesday July 09, 2025 @10:29PM (#44516645)
Janky - slang for something shit, crsp, cobbled together haphazardly...?
Procreate and Fastmail are under rated?? Seriously people...

Fast Automation, Concep, Applied Robotics come to mind. There are some quantum computing companies based in Sydney too.

80s au saucage? I dont remember that one being like that. Funny.

Carbonated beverages expand once swallowed, not helpful if your LES is relaxed.

I had the same diagnosis, and treatment was getting on serious antidepressants for their nerve dulling properties.

After getting that diagnosis. I eat everything within reason. I decided not to take medication, knowing whats up with my body is sufficient. I mainly try to do all eating 4 hrs before bed.

What i have read is that covid may be responsible for micro lesions in the esophagus...acidic foods are essentially rubbing salt in the wounds.

Just a note about VH - it is more so over sensitivity to regular digestive function. Which is why feeling super full after eating/dispepsia is common as well. Im sure you did a 24 hr acid monitoring test - i pressed the reflux button during all my trigger foods and was surprised to see ph levels as neutral.

In Sydney. It has destroyed the olfactory field imo. I cant stand the ambroxan(?)...it smells like IPA on PCP :/
Re:WhatsApp Introduces Ads in Its App on Tuesday June 17, 2025 @04:46PM (#44303770)
I left whatsapp long ago when it was bought by meta, due to my privacy beliefs. I quit facebook in 2007 when i caught negative behaviour patterns. Im staunchly anti social media, however it would be dishonest not to note that it is lonely, organising anything is tedious, you have no access to the used goods marketplace (fees on sales platforms are too high). I dont really know if privacy is worth it. But tbh the thought of going back makes my skin crawl.
You need to change filters as recommended, change o-rings, and bleach the fittings. Algae will develop on those. Thats pretty much it.

I wouldnt run bleach through the filters. The filter medium saturates, and any further use will just recontaminate water

My RO system has a remineralisation cartridge. You def dont want to drink ph neutral water, it feels hard, and doesnt taste sweet.
My general experience in Australia when i talk about drinking RO water is that im looked at like a crazed madman who drinks "holy water"... So atleast hear i daresay its safe to say the average persons taste and smell must be piss poor
You generally want to avoid cheap filters as they apparently can be tainted with formaldehyde
I saw an ibis and magpie work on opening a macdonalds bin, take out the black rubbish bag, tear it, splay its contents and fish for paper macdonalds bags!
Seagulls, magpie and ibis (im not being fun or joking here) have evolved to exhibit cooperative traits and behaviours to get food, including tricking, diverting, cooperating and most annoying literally staunching people.

I was having a burrito on manly wharf a long while back, a seagull just lands on the table and death stares me...i felt uncomfortable and moved, because i know they will try and take my food off me!

Building services bow down to their structural overlords, we generally dont have a say unless we absolutely cannot squeeze duct in a given space.
Ive started work recently as a Revit MEP modeller. Id recommend your team look into a way of supporting common services models like vav/fcu/flex ducts/rect ducts, pipes, cable trays, conduit and so on.

Im not experienced enough to know if early stage mep designers will find this useful.

Did anyone order graphics with a side of tearing?
Nice to see Autodesk downvoting.
