The way you put it sounds far far more impressive than the way GP put it though.
Re:Moving our warehouse off DuckDB on Monday November 02, 2026 @12:24PM (#50340236)
Maybe it's the "me first" mindset you're bringing to engineering?
Re:Tips for more effective fuzz testing with AFL++ on Sunday November 01, 2026 @05:36PM (#50330651)
It doesn't really matter, the most skilled programmers are usually working on harder stuff, so the bug rate remains fairly consistent.
"under a second" still seems like a massive amount of time if you're running an army of bots.

Access to information and learning are not necessarily correlated.
Re:The Mythical Man-Month in the Age of AI on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @01:50PM (#50263042)
Because they used to care.
Re:No Signs of AI Payoff Outside the Tech Sector on Saturday October 24, 2026 @04:21PM (#50224808)
Maybe it's also rate-limited by the fact that it's not actually a silver bullet and actually needs time to find the proper place for its application as well.
If you actually want your "AI" to interact with anything digital, are these voice-to-voice models going to...use speech to text? How does this model interact with anything that isn't an audio channel?
Deezer is a great alternative.
Re:I trained a 360M model to pretend to be a terminal on Thursday October 22, 2026 @04:00PM (#50200229)
Would this let you actually create a file on your filesystem (as best as the model can), or is it just like a window into its own little world?
Re:Claude Duet on Thursday October 22, 2026 @01:21PM (#50198338)
No shit, they want you to burn tokens. Any efficient use of computation on your side is a threat to their business model.
Re:Rust off Rails: The opinionated web stack for the AI era on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @01:37PM (#50184690)
We live in a post-truth and post-definition world.
"It's standard practice"

"It's completely different than what you're talking about"

"Guys...who even cares?"

But I can do it every 6 to 8 hours!
X is less of an "other part of the overall business [SpaceX]" and more of a bolted-on, completely unrelated part merged together b/c of financial difficulties.
If there's anything we've learned in the US in the past ten years, is that this new breed of corporations and government officials will gladly take the "standard" set of rules that everyone has been operating in in good faith and exploit the gaps as hard as humanly possible.
I don’t like OpenAI or Anthropic’s attitude towards the law but this whataboutism.

Is this a broken link for anyone else?

A recurring motif among the LLM-pilled.
Steam crashes my window manager every time I close it now. This started a couple weeks ago.
Re:I know why Mathematicians weep on Thursday October 15, 2026 @01:01PM (#50106663)
model collapse seems to say that "AI" cannot train on itself.
The Ones Who Sell The Panic Sell The Cure.
There's one of those in the thread right now.
Re:AI is a tool and using it well takes skill on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @12:29PM (#50074391)
Then you get fat and suffer "diseases of civilization" because walking is good for you and extended sitting is not.
Re:A Visual Intro to Complex Numbers on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @11:29AM (#50073278)
> I now feel like "complex" numbers etc. are the representation of data through multiple numbers where a single value (scalars) is not enough.

Ok, now find a single term that you think would adequately describe that concept.

Re:REA Reverse – Engineer Anything on Saturday October 10, 2026 @12:00AM (#50029426)
Because it's already been done for you? Sure, you can spend your own tokens on it, but it's probably cheaper and more time-effective to use something that already exists and does the job.
He’s basically been chasing non-accountability his entire life. This would be its final form, he completely abdicates all of his thinking to a machine (of his own creation).
They don’t need to understand what they’re doing, they’re interpolating from prior data until they maximize reward.
