In the United States, you can spend 6k on health insurance and 12k out of pocket for unlimited family health care.

So as long as a US job pays 18k more, it's pretty similar.

People talk about vacation, but my job pays so much I'll take months off between contracts. (Engineering)

Also it's hard to compare lifestyles in the US vs Europe. Homes in the US are gigantic, often newish, and have Air Conditioning. Cars in the United States are more feature rich and have higher safety standards (when I was an airbag engineer in 2015)

Everyone forgets about Blackberry...

Also I believe you are describing a general Apple quality.

Re:DDR5 Memory Specification Released on Thursday July 16, 2020 @10:39PM (#23866414)
Samsung is one of the worst companies. Among the BP, AT&T, Comcast, and Apple tier evils.

I'm not sure how they have survived bad press, but Samsung is not a good company.

1 billion dollars later healthcare.gov almost works good.

Sure I need to click the same 14 screens just to get to the Health insurance options screen, and sure any time I open a URL on page 4 and hit back, it takes me to the top of page 1....

But government healthcare would surely not run into issues that seem to trouble every other government service. (Can I post /s or does that delete your post?)

Because it's a lie. He didn't make such a robot.

I found it uninteresting especially thinking you could get your hair cut from a robot.

I think there is a gap between people who have never programmed with electricity and Engineers. If you have never controlled a motor, this is future tech.

If you are a design engineer, this simply doesn't work.

Not real UBI. I want to see an end to food stamps and housing subsidies and Medicare taxes before you call it UBI.

You are inspiring me to make my own YouTube channel now!

It's extremely far from a usable product.

The fact he couldn't cut his own hair, means he can't cut different hair, or different styles, or different textures or head shapes. No testing completed either.

This is really nothing more than a YouTube video.

I was the complete opposite, maybe I'm a hater.

The hard part isn't done. Controlling servos and motors is school level work. Combining it with 3D, a 400 level class.

But it doesn't actually work. Saying "I can collaborate with a stylist" is not the bottleneck. It's the precision, the irregularities between clients, and obviously more.

Its a cool YouTube video if you don't know design Engineering, but I was utterly disappointed and was surprised to see people praising him..

I've mostly gotten out of Politics on Instagram. You see them?
Re:Facebook readies global launch of its TikTok competitor on Thursday July 16, 2020 @10:15AM (#23859188)
We've actually seen Facebook use their data for Political purposes and profiting.

They are about as Anti US as any country.

A major issue is that a single cartel controls medical(physicians/AMA). It's not necessarily science backed, so this leaves non science issues filled with tradition and authority.

Are lifetime outcomes really better on all these Drugs? Maybe after you already created drug addictions, a different drug would help.

Prior to drug use, I imagine therapy, monetary support, education, etc... Would all be better than 2020s brand name Adderall.

Re:Live BTC transactions in Twitter hack on Thursday July 16, 2020 @09:40AM (#23858837)
I did with leftover after a bad investment.

Weirdly enough, sold a half a Bitcoin, made a bad investment, put the rest into Bitcoin, still 0.5BTC.

With URLs like that, it makes me wonder if they are telling the whole story.

I don't understand why people make science "pointed"? Do people get extra credit for not being the status quo?

Heck all I want in Nutrition is some objective data. Someone be that scientist.

This is pretty much me. But less focus on sunlight and more focus on sleeping at the same time.

Also exercise helps.

Re:The Rise of the “Liberaltarian” on Saturday July 11, 2020 @07:58AM (#23801434)
My relationship with politics and economics is complicated like it should be.

I "stay in the center of the circle" as Tao Te Ching advises, but I also cannot deny the superiority of the Free Market. (Not to be confused with whatever the United States does for healthcare).

We have countless examples of competitive markets performing best, and a handful of government controlled markets that are horrible (healthcare, education, real estate, banking)

Some people call this inevitable in capitalism, that government will be used to create inequality. But at least this is not intended, whereas other economic policies make this a feature.

Anyway, can't vote for Republicans, they like big government which seems like an obvious bad idea.
