Or maybe he's just complaining about things that most people don't care about. Because they're not relevant for the day to day jobs

For me, it was consuming so much memory. Switching to OrbStack helped fix that

This is rad. I would totally buy a 25k robot if I could train it to fold and put away my laundry (serious)

Oh rad. This is like a new version of Jet Set Radio with multiplayer
Uh you're over thinking it. They just have cameras in the toll booths that snap a photo when the car crosses the sensor.
Literally the only reason to use Signal is to talk about unionizing, drugs, or shady biz deals.

Texting your coworker, would the usual path, not some secondary software that requires both people to set up ahead of time.

This is a pretty weak excuse. It's not hard to keep your work comms in the approved software.

I would tell people to fuck off if they wanted to invade my personal device with work chatter. Boundaries are good

Where have you heard this?

They build their own index: https://help.kagi.com/kagi/why-kagi/kagi-vs-competition.html

Yeah, Kagi returns better results for me. Is free, but totally worth the one coffee ($5) per month.

Feels like you're making a big deal out of nothing by picking apart their language.

They're saying they've designed the system, so it's separated from access to your vault. This is their way of trying to reassure users they have considered user privacy.

Obviously, they could be secretly collecting things this entire time. But also, why would they need the telemetry system to view your vault? If they wanted to view that, they could do that "secretly"

Same. Kagi has better results than Google in general. Even programming ones. I don't mind paying for better

Love that it can do groupings, especially when you're searching for something that will also turn up seo garbage, like products for your home. So you can see the cluster of "review sites" and then actual product companies

That's the sites itself enabling that, most likely their auth provider has SSO with groogle

https://developers.google.com/identity/gsi/web/guides/offeri...

Also, you can kinda-disable this per browser

https://myaccount.google.com/security -> "Signing in to other sites"

Glad there are more options for search tools. Seems pretty good!

But still very happy with how Kagi works

You're right on their cookware and bed sheets. But the rest of the store is basically Amazon trash in a retail store :(
I got the Mac Mini M1, it only needs ~7W when idle and up to 35W at full load. Runs quiet as a mouse
Re:You didn’t just do that, Heroku on Tuesday April 18, 2023 @03:18PM (#35618682)
As someone who took this advice around 2016 and setup servers for clients' sites I was building, the lesson I would impart here is: DON'T DO THIS

Maybe do this for small side projects and people who don't care if the site goes down.

Nothing more fun than trying to figure out what your 2016 self did to set up that fucking server based on a half-baked tutorial that was the top Google hit. And now it's crashing, and you don't know what the fuck is wrong. And the client is frantically texting you asking when the site will be up again.

The curse of knowledge gets people to forget how fucking steep the learning curve can be when every Linux thing is new. Especially when you're trying to debug a problem and every StackOverflow answer has you chasing wrong paths.

2023 me would have no problem doing this now, but also why the fuck would I want to waste my time mucking about fixing dumb problems. There's no need to prove how awesome I am at doing DevOps. I'm 100% ok paying a premium to let that be someone else's problem. I would rather solve fun problems than doing endless maintenance tasks.

Yeah, it's pretty rough the first week. It can help to modify the definition of sugar to be processed sugars.

I kept fruit in. Some people allow honey

Unfortunately, there are many things it could be.

Doctors are only so helpful (and most are even less so)

Here's a list of things I tried that sorta helped with my tiredness spells. Recommend doing any of these changes separately:

- Sugar fast for 4 weeks (helps reset your cravings)

- Switched from coffee to green tea

- Reduced caffeine intake to one a day or 3x a week

- Acupuncture

- 15 min walks or bike ride every day

- Omega 3 oils

- Higher intake of minerals I was deficient in (eating more green vegetables)

(spoiler alert, I had undiagnosed ADHD which contributed to my high anxiety, which gave me waves of alert/exhausted)

This is really just an attack on non-wealthy people.

If you're fucking wealthy, it's also very easy to move money for fraud, drugs, murder, literally anything. They just don't use the Cash App

I feel this deeply

The compromise I found was just to dump them into my bookmarking service. If I really really need to find that thing again, it's saved somewhere. 99% of the time it's just digital ephemera and I try to let it go and close the tab.

It's why people invented religion
