Re:Material You – The next stage for Material Design on Wednesday May 19, 2021 @02:21AM (#27205217)
I'm with you on that. Customization is important to me (one of the main reasons I use Android), and I'm eager to see how this turns out. I really appreciated the custom styling options added to Google Now Launcher and this feels like the next step.
Re:Ask HN: My dentist prescribed me a toothbrush that wants to track m... on Thursday May 13, 2021 @07:42PM (#27148907)
Not necessarily. Depending on the country, stores can set their return policy when it comes to non-defective items. I know several major retailers that refuse returns on headphones if they have been opened due to hygiene issues. If the headphones are defective or unopened, then they will accept returns. OP returning a working toothbrush may fall under the same scenario.

Hygiene guidelines may prevent OP from returning it if the item is open.

Re:Ask HN: Lenovo Thinkpad or Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition for Linux on Tuesday November 17, 2020 @04:06PM (#25129832)
There are many different models/configurations of ThinkPads so there is no real answer to your question unfortunately.

Purely anecdotal, but I've been using a T450s for over five years and I don't see myself really upgrading anytime soon. If I do upgrade, chances are I'd get another ThinkPad. I like how little they can cost and how they don't conflict with Linux.

Re:Nintendo Play Station Super NES CD-ROM Prototype on Thursday February 13, 2020 @08:57PM (#22323336)
We at Heritage can attest the prototype is working, as we've played a couple of rounds of Mortal Kombat on it using a Super Famicom cartridge.

That gave me a good laugh :). This collaboration reminds me of the Panasonic Q. Nintendo's collaboration with Panasonic that was a hybrid version of the GameCube with a DVD player: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panasonic_Q

My mind immediately went to Ouya when I read the article, but the concept here seems interesting, and I hope it does better than Ouya did.
