On the bright side it does have a nice modular configuration in `~/.spacemacs`.
Re:The xkcd survey on Wednesday September 02, 2015 @05:30PM (#10162005)
I'll have to play with spreadsheet injection then
Re:The Battle for Wesnoth needs help on Saturday July 25, 2015 @06:53AM (#9947200)
I guess this will violate the GPL license unless you are not going to release it to the public in any form.
Re:Announcing TypeScript 1.5 on Tuesday July 21, 2015 @11:30AM (#9922904)
I hope we don't go back to alerts to handle exceptions: http://i.imgur.com/ZzvGrsO.png

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

On a more serious note I'll have to see ho it works out phasing it into an existing, old, hacky (in many sad places) project

Re:Do we need browsers? on Monday July 20, 2015 @09:31AM (#9915881)
I think it does the opposite, The author wanted to send a structured document without presentation, with your tool of liking (I used Firefox's reader view) you can read comfortably without compromising the content of the article or it's features.

edit: I could have used curl, an html processor and a pager like less or more

The big difference is that a country in Europe has his own economy completely detached from the rest of the EU while in the US the federal state will provide money coverage for the basic state services and absorbs economic shocks distributing it on the whole country.
I don't see much of a difference. The only difference is the name and the very big constrains on the countries adhering to the union.

I would be for an union if the european countries were like the USA: very close to each other both in language and culture.

Re:Greece on Saturday July 04, 2015 @11:13PM (#9832377)
I always ask myself: "who accepted them?" and then I simply respond to myself the EU accepted them along with all the other PIGS.

Like they did with the EMS. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Monetary_System

It didn't work at the time, they now wanted to make it forcibly work (again). Something is not right.

Re:Docker meets the IDE on Tuesday June 16, 2015 @01:55PM (#9727576)
I'm actually using statically linked apps inside docker containers. (so my apps are automagically nicer)
Re:Pixie Pi on Wednesday May 06, 2015 @07:20AM (#9497787)
It's distinct [features][1], mainly immutable data structures and transducers.

Pixie runs over -RPython- PyPi.

(The bracket "thing" is not a Clojure feature, it is lisp)

Re:Phusion Passenger Docker on Friday January 30, 2015 @07:43AM (#8971717)
As I see this it's yet another attempt to use containers for virtualization.

I'm sorry if I am completely missing the point of this effort.

Re:Lodash v3.0.0 on Tuesday January 27, 2015 @09:52AM (#8953237)
The most important feature is chaining and lazy evaluation.

I think the most useful functions are the typechecking utilities (typeof in javascript is the most useless keyword the human kind engineered in a language).

In the end is a very nice library to work with when it does not get in the way (of course, if you are using `_.each([], fn)`, you should think again and use `Array#forEach` or a nice `for`)

Re:Italia Startup Visa on Thursday January 15, 2015 @05:43AM (#8891817)
It is not the main issue right now.

It is a BIG, HUGE issue, but not the main one ruling out housing business in Italy.

The main issue right now is the myopic political view driving the economy.

Re:Italia Startup Visa on Thursday January 15, 2015 @04:05AM (#8891559)
I can assure you, corruption is the least of our problems in our country.

As stated by gruturo the real problems are taxes, inadequate laws, infrastructure (for example cable connection is scarce even in the bigger cities) and finally economic issues.

I was born in Italy and I love my country, but I had to move to a different country to be able to work and being payed for my work.

Re:Flash vs HTML - Waste Invaders on Friday March 08, 2013 @07:19AM (#5343013)
Flash on linux is dead, The only updated standard implementation comes from Google Chrome (note: not Chromium)
the container application is based off CEF3 ( http://code.google.com/p/chromiumembedded/ ) , here is the repository https://github.com/adobe/brackets-shell
Re:Ask HN: If you use Ubuntu, which backup utility you use? on Wednesday September 05, 2012 @03:54AM (#4478402)

Re:Building Atari With CreateJS on Saturday September 01, 2012 @04:06AM (#4463039)
I don't really know why they are pushing IE10 since it's not even out yet (unless someone is sponsoring them). By the way the small demos are working in chrome, quite slowly but working
Re:Color Bash Prompts on Sunday February 19, 2012 @08:39AM (#3609309)
ArchLinux wiki became, along with gentoo's handbook, one of the few places to get good information about many recurring questions about gnu/linux configuration.
the js version does something like

  setInterval(function(){
    var i = new Image();
    i.src = target + randId + msg;
    ... // event handling
  }, 0)
so you end up requesting an url every 0 ms the randId is just a simple `Date.now`, the message is an actual message taken from an input in the html. Source code: http://hastebin.com/gasitinafo.js
Re:The Daily WTF goes white to "support" SOPA on Wednesday January 18, 2012 @02:42PM (#3481467)
and it's only a matter of time until the ISP are forced to block the server IP (like what happened here in Italy).
Re:90% Good parts of jQuery - at only 13% of the size on Sunday November 20, 2011 @04:06PM (#3259017)
I am a big fan of ender, you can build a framework out of smaller specialized libraries, the Jeesh is very close to jQuery API, add reqwest and morpheus to the stack and you have the missing ajax functionality (with a cleaner interface) and a very nice and fast css tweener based upon MooTools.Tween.
Re:Node.js cures cancer on Monday October 03, 2011 @08:36AM (#3066028)
This is true for Python, Ruby, PHP. (I can't see ted's issues with node other than misunderstanding of the framework's runtime)
My dear Pegasos2 is sitting near my desktop, it's light is still on, enlightening my steps at night.

It's nice to turn it on to feel amiga once more.

Re:Enterprise Javascript is... on Tuesday October 19, 2010 @07:53AM (#1806813)
This is "Enterprise"!. It's a very nice collection indeed.
sice CSS3 is still a work in progress browsers implement upcomig features using -webkit/-o/-moz there's nothing wrong with it (as long than you don't use the non-valid ie's filter crap)

If you take a look here: http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/current-work you can clearly see that pretty much everything is in Working Draft state so isn't really stable

Re:XKCD commemerates GeoCities on Monday October 26, 2009 @10:31AM (#903254)

Re:To vim or not to vim on Sunday October 25, 2009 @09:31PM (#902470)
there is a nice tutorial, if you are too lazy to follow the lessons just print the cheat sheet and place right near your keyboard. Vim isn't difficould but just needs some time at the beginning but ... once you get used to it you'll miss it when you can't have it :)
