In my experience, they got big by successfully partnering with Ironman - around 2013-14, they started leading Kona shoe counts. Suddenly everyone went from ridiculing "moonshoes" to actually wearing them as daily trainers and oftentimes racers too. Nike had their chance when they came out with Vaporflys in 2018 and had every big time marathoner destroy decade old records but the tech they had (foam and carbon plates) quickly got commoditized.

Big cities like Moscow or St Pete are anything but monocultural.
Re:UniFi 5G on Friday December 05, 2025 @09:13PM (#46169921)
TP-Link Deco line is reasonable. Fairly devoid of advanced features but plenty for probably 95% of the households out there - ie an easy VLAN separation into primary/IoT/guest networks, parental controls, QoS, meshing, etc. Linksys should be immediately reflashed to run DD-WRT.

No the one linked above is non-PoE. This one is - https://store.ui.com/us/en/category/switching-standard/produ...
That's what I use. The Garmin O/S UX is a bit ass, but usable and I never need to carry money if I am going on a run.
Re:Use DuckDB-WASM to query TB of data in browser on Saturday November 01, 2025 @01:51PM (#45783704)
I had the same experience - everything runs great on an AWS Linux EC2 with 32GB of memory, same workload in a docker on ECS with 32GB allocated gets an OOM. But for smaller workloads, DuckDB is fantastic... however, there's a certain point when Spark or Snowflake start to make more sense.
Re:Ubiquiti Launches UniFi OS Server for Self-Hosting on Saturday August 02, 2025 @09:18PM (#44773309)
I own a host of Unifi hardware, but some of it is ridiculously vulnerable to power outages. UDM SE got bricked when I was moving and absentmindedly unplugged it without shutting it down first. Ubiquiti replaced it but cmon...
That Biden/Harris lost because they let inflation get out of control for a fairly short amount of time?
Every large database vendor forbids public disclosure of benchmark results these days - ie Snowflake, you name it. Privately it's a different story obviously.
Re:Zelensky leaves White House after angry meeting on Friday February 28, 2025 @09:57PM (#43215242)
That's not true. The last Soviet soldier has left Afghanistan way before the USSR disintegrated.

What are you even talking about? Garmin has an auto start/stop feature for lap swimming. All you need to do is single press top right button once to start the session and press the same button to stop and then another button to save it. It will literally do everything else for you automatically.
I can tell you that back when I worked as a dev for the department building order fulfillment software at a dotcom, my perspective on my own product has drastically changed after I had spent a month at a warehouse that was shipping orders coming out of the software we wrote. Eating my own dog food was not pretty.
No wonder that the birthrates are in the dumpster. How are you supposed to get laid in the absence of social lubricants?
My guess is that it went down like this. Ticketmaster gave access to their production tenant to sales engineer that was probably attached to their account rep. He got an account with a set password, was not onboarded into their Okta/Azure AD/etc and didn't have MFA enabled for his account or was restricted to a range of IPs for access.

He got p0wned and the hackers got in using his creds. Of course he likely had accountadmin or something highly privileged since he was likely routinely asked to look at random things at Ticketmaster... that too didn't help.

The word is widely used in Russian as well.
Volume trumps everything for cycling/running - these are low skill so to speak sports. 60 mpw for 18 weeks will get most people into a Boston qualifying time. Zone 1/2 also has the advantage of lowering the risk of injury, which is critical for volume.
Yes for sure. Track running can result in injuries on the left side usually in the foot/ankle area.
Oracle had it for decades - ie outlines.

We did just that. Went to Vegas and got a city hall thing done. 25 years later, no one gives a toss about us not blowing $10k on a wedding. We bought a house with that money as a down payment.
Re:The average persons metabolism doesn't decline until 60 on Saturday October 14, 2023 @10:53PM (#37886454)
750 kcals is insanely high for a 10k training run. If you hold your HR to Z2, 620-640 kcals would be my ballpark expectation.
Maybe I am missing something but would there ever be a scenario where taking a single albeit large sql statement and rewriting it as several pyspark scripts would result in faster runtime for your data pipeline? In most cases, this will be much much slower.

Or the LA County

I really like this product. Reading the documentation, it's not clear how to set the auth credentials per topic. Any way to clarify this?
Re:Everesting – Climb the Equivalent of Mt. Everest on Sunday October 02, 2022 @08:59PM (#33062170)
These days you can get a 12 speed Gruppo and get even more favorable gearing ratios, ie 48/30 and 10/36. And it will be lighter than an 11 speed triple. Remember that if everesting for time you will want as large of an outer ring upfront as possible.

They are doing something similar to Tableau. They have been actively rolling out features only available to subscription based customers - ie if you own perpetual licenses and only paying x% yearly for maintenance you are starting to get less product than their subscription customers. It is nuts and is driving us to actively consider PowerBI which is like Teams is included with the enterprise license.

Would love on as well.
Re:Running Containers on AWS Lambda on Thursday April 28, 2022 @11:35AM (#31193804)
The bulk of the cost here is usually on the EC2 side. The main extra cost is the price it takes your runner EC2 instance(s) to bootstrap - ie usually about 2-3 minutes. Can be mitigated by using prepaid discounts, etc.
Re:Running Containers on AWS Lambda on Thursday April 28, 2022 @12:34AM (#31188761)
AWS datapipeline is likely the best solution for a longer running batch that gets run 3-4 times a day.

Ride the Lightning too - though mainly to beef up James’ voice.
