I don't disagree that they pay more, but how much more? The value/usage of a $100 sub is also fairly opaque and perpetually decreasing...
If that information is not public (of course it's not lol), I don't see why you would follow that up with stats that don't actually answer the question and imply they somehow get us closer to the answer...? do you own anthropic stock/options?
You were spending zero dollars a day to buy tokens at prices that almost nobody actually pays? Woah cool story bro.
Do you have any data to back that up? Not really worried about which pronouns are used in this case
Cool story bud
that still directly contradicts what you said above...
Really? How much of anthropic's revenue is coming from API usage at public/retail rates (without discounts or credits)?
What's is the 'retail cost'? Because nobody (except total idiots) is actually paying their published API pricing.
Obvious bullshit that's been disproven many times already.
Re:I Am the Reason OpenAI Is Killing Unlimited Chats on Monday November 02, 2026 @12:30PM (#50340334)
Nah usage is def down since a few months ago (for both anthropic and openai)
By 'operate at Anthropic level', you mean terrible reliability and availability, and terrible efficiency right?
Anthropic's use of AI in no way translates or represents any other companies' use of AI, so your apparent extrapolation makes no sense.
Re:I Am the Reason OpenAI Is Killing Unlimited Chats on Sunday November 01, 2026 @09:22PM (#50332348)
I've only started hitting the anthropic blocks in the last week or so, I get much more blocks from openai/codex. This plus the recent reductions in usage allowance on both are finally pushing me to look elsewhere. I've had the highest level x20 subs for both since they came out, but I'm getting 5x the value/price from DeepSeek at this point.
The model employee must live (or pretend to) inside the company's information bubble.

It's an 'open' , for-profit vibed clone of actual open source projects [0]... they do have a source link to their vibed copy buried somewhere on their site, but I don't see any reason to care really.

Re:Open Sound Connect – Control Sony Headphones from Your Mac on Thursday October 29, 2026 @11:13AM (#50290387)
What do you mean? It's brand new shiny vibecoded macos copy/clone of an open source project[0][1], and it has 'Open' in the name despite being a completely closed copy of an open source project... and it's at the top of hacker news completely naturally from this first time poster...

I'm impressed, but I guess haters gonna hate.

Remind me why someone needs consent to create some virtual/digital data/bytes that represent arbitrary things?

Do I need someone's consent to write 'msft' on a piece of paper?

Re:Genie 4 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @03:10PM (#50264219)
If you mean that this press release amounts to the AI equivalent of the latest Tesla Roadster 'release'... then I guess you're kinda right
Re:Genie 4 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @03:09PM (#50264201)
In order to claim there is any 'advancement' here requires a baseline of openness which is not met here.
Re:Genie 4 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @03:08PM (#50264182)
Not insane at all, completely sensical.
Re:Genie 4 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @03:05PM (#50264146)
The only one pretending this is something that needs to be said, for whatever reason, is you.

amen

a big tech device/platform designed and algorithmically optimized to hit/increase corporate metrics with small kids as the subjects... hard to imagine anything more dystopian

maybe it'll help us raise good docile consumers and workers tho /s

I have an unreleased model that is more capable than those unreleased models (by about a gazillion times)
Re:AI compute is the new oil–and needs a new market on Friday October 23, 2026 @12:54PM (#50211986)
If you 'route everything to luna' via OpenRouter then you're literally paying 10-20x the subscription rate
Re:AI compute is the new oil–and needs a new market on Friday October 23, 2026 @11:28AM (#50210691)
Is your purpose to market OpenRouter and Luna?

Because they both objectively suck and the combination provides far less usage/intelligence per $ and many other options out there...

Re:AI compute is the new oil–and needs a new market on Friday October 23, 2026 @01:31AM (#50204836)
pretty much any sub is far better usage/intelligence per $ than openrouter, opencode go is the best one I know of at the moment
The disruption is definitely happening. The main roadblock is that the US tech industry is completely captured by big tech and VCs, who openly collude with each other. But that is temporary and the cracks are starting to show - the aggressive push towards AI regulatory capture is just one obvious sign. Explain to me how DeepSeek, a company with far less access to compute and capital, and starting from behind, is now able to offer LLM inference at roughly 10x the value per dollar of the frontier US AI labs.

> Ask yourself this; do you think Apple would rather give up their engineers, or their brand image? Only one of them is replaceable.

What do you think the 'brand image' is? Is it a pretty design/image, or a cute ad campaign, is it just whatever the marketing/propaganda says? Or is it actual product quality, reliability, efficiency, etc. ? If apple gives up their engineers they have no more brand image at all, and no more products either.

That's true, you do need marketing, sales, etc. But is there any secret sauce to that beyond having existing connections? Not really. AI does that job better than the 99% at this point.

> Yes, these MBAs will be releasing products and starting businesses that were once relegated to only developers.

Show me a single, actually working, profitable tech company built by a non-technical MBA without the need for developers. Until then it's fantasy. I've watched numerous seemingly high-ranking, very successful MBA/marketing people try - it's a complete joke - they need nerds to babysit them 24/7.

> They'll overpay for cloud hosting, completely fail to innovate, abuse their customer relationship, and make much more money than solo devs ever did.

Cool fantasy I guess

AI/LLMs are an amazing tool and a multiplier, but they are far from perfect - it requires technical understanding to use effectively. An experienced software engineer can leverage it 1000x more effectively than a typical corporate MBA NPC. That's all there really is to it.

No they can't. Their only skill is in squeezing profits out of existing products and corporate politics. These people are mostly technically illiterate, and they don't understand the tech market/business well either. Even AI will not enable these people to deliver working, quality code.

Writing code is a very specific and highly technical skill, you cannot just will yourself to do it without many hours of study and practice. Doing business strategy + machiavellianism 101, which is realistically what 99% of these people do, is not a very complicated or technical skill at all, the average high schooler understands these things for the most part, and AI can do it better already.

There are thousands of products and companies out there that were once okay, and did pretty well, after which they got taken over by the MBA/marketing people, and now their products are enshittified, stagnated dogshit, they only exist because of existing customers and connections, and they can be easily outcompeted.
