IMO, this captures well the essense of AI: it's an alien swarm intelligence that solves problems with brute force and pattern matching. For comparison, we prefer simple and elegant solutions, partly because our time and attention scope is very limited, but mainly because it rhymes with our nature.
Because AI's language isn't a language at all, but its imitation. Imagine you're given a map skillfully created by someone who has seen many maps, but never bothered to understand their meaning. How much time will you waste before realising that this map is an imitation?
To appreciate music and art you need a sense of harmony. An alien species with aversion to harmony would produce similarly disgusting civilization: its music will be noise and its art will be chaos.
The implication here is that all your emails in GMail will be thoroughly analysed by LLMs.
What words look or sound similar to 'bouba'? What words are similar to 'kiki'?
It's a binary blob created by a highly capable adversary. It surely has dormant capabilities activated with some keywords. It's the Trojan Horse. You wouldn't use a C++ compiler binary provided by CCP, right?
The assumption was that some engineers knew how each part of the system worked, or at least the system was comprehensible because it was created by humans for other humans. There were comments explaining difficult places, etc. With AI this assumption is broken. Now nobody understands how things work, and it cannot be understood in principle because the system is a mountain of slop created by some alien intelligence.
I'd be more suspicious of what side effects this thing has.
How can AI absolve us of the need to think and at the same time require special skills to use AI? This seems contradictory.
However AI is similar to cars in this regard. We used to walk, ride a horse or a bicycle to get somewhere. These means of locomotion weren't very fast, but they could take us just about anywhere and they made us very connected to nature. Cars removed all that and forced us to remake our society around cars. We wouldn't be able to ride a horse today even if we wanted to. The only means of transportation is a car on an asphalt road. And yes, riding a car is a separate skill that has nothing in common with walking or riding a bicycle.
I suspect AI will similarly turn our society upside down, so that using your own mind to think won't be possible, just like riding a horse isn't possible today. It's hard to say exactly how this will be achieved, but some tendencies can be seen already: AI produces mountains of slop, making it impossible to read thru by yourself. It's a DDoS on human culture, in essense. If everyone everywhere uses AI to communicate like that, you'll be facing a hard choice: give up your agency, just like everyone else, and use AI to read emails or retreat into the mountains away from this madness.
The rule of thumb is that technology creates problems that cannot be solved with the same level of technology.
The corrupting influence of communism. CCP replaced human moral code with something demonic, and everything else followed.
Look up the ARS/USD exchange rate: 8x drop since 2016. USD itself has lost 50% of its value since then.
Oh my, where did you get this from? I happen to know both. The founder of Scientology was a scientist who started with a somewhat decent idea, got popular in the US, but his fame passed quickly. He really craved for that fame, though, so he changed his teaching into some cultist stuff, paired with some sketchy lord and proceeded with demon invocations. His main book is Dianetics, and his followers are very vindictive to those who leave the cult.
Falun Dafa, on the other hand, is more like a Buddhist discipline. You are free to meditate in a park if you feel like it, you are free to go if you don't. There is no organisation, no one will know your name. Its main book is Zhuan Falun, which you could read to make your own opinion, rather than repeating someone's talking points. CCP hunts Falun Gong because its founder refused to become a part of CCP. You can read this story on Wikipedia. The situation is similar to the early days of Christianity when Nero burned christians alive and wanted to eradicate their faith. The irony is that today the Roman Empire has reduced to the city of Vatican which is the temple of Christianity. CCP will fall similarly.
As for organs extraction... well, read about the Sujiatun Concentration Camp. CCP sends there young Falun Gong followers and sells their organs to high rank officials. Demonic creativity. But what did you expect from a communist regime?
Scientology is an evil cult, while Falun Gong is more like Buddhism. You can't really compare them.
Nothing unhealthy in promiscuity and orgies? The people's moral standards have indeed fallen low. This sort of behavior spreads diseases like a wildfire. As for why people seek this, it's because it's easy to project your demonic fantasies onto a person you don't know. Once you get to know your partner well, his or her personality dispells your imagination and you have to behave in a more upright manner. It's probably why it's common to wear masks on such events.
AI, in its current form, is 100% deterministic. You can create an exact copy of it, roll back its state and so on. There is no room for consciousness there. An actual lifeform isn't predictable.
The universe is material of course, the soul is made of matter, thoughts are made of matter and so on. The question is what kind of matter? Looking at the brain, we won't find any intelligence in the motion of its cells. They mostly stay in place. If we go one level deeper, we'll see molecules, and their motion reveals something more interesting: various neurochemical reactions. Yet, there is no intelligence at that level either. Going one more level deeper we'll find electrons and that's where things become somewhat intelligent. At the current level of science, we can't see what makes electrons move, but if we could, we would discover finer and finer forms of matter until we would reach an end. That finest level of matter for that particular person we would call his soul. I think it's the presence of those higher imperceptible levels of matter that creates consciousness. If it all stopped at the cellular or molecular level, we would be like complex mechanical watches, not very different from LLMs.
A morally bankrupt scientist would give AI the hands it needs. Or a military general who thinks he must use AI and any means possible to win, because his enemy may use AI first.
China is still under a communist regime, and we know how it makes society harmonious: by chopping everyone's fingers to equal length.
I noticed that LLMs prevent you from thinking on your own, or at least try to, by injecting their "helpful" suggestions when you need some idle time to think. On Amazon, for example, I was about to find something when their chatbot distracted me with its suggestions I didn't ask for.
We'll probably see the explanation of the Fermi paradox.
This will be used to serve SEO slop. LLMs are already used as search engines and businesses really want to outrank competition by any means possible.
This is a big pile of AI slop. I doubt anyone will ever read it.
Reads like AI slop. It circles around the point, uses C# examples while talking about FPU, duplicates examples and so on.
AI is more or less a religion right now in the corporate world. Speaking against AI amounts to heresy.
To conjure fire from the skies, in other words. But the way technology works is it solves a problem by introducing other problems, and if they plan to fix cancer by messing with DNA, guess what side effects there will be.
DNA is more like a barcode.
I think of it as a silicone-based alien lifeform.
I don't understand how the abundance of AI datacenters translates into wellbeing of common folk. Right now AI is a net negative for the people.
