Yes, on social media. Outside of their basecamp account.
I think that’s the entire point DHH was attempting to make: internal issues don’t need to be connected with broader issues like colonialism and racism.

That senior execs making more money is due to their tenure and merit, and not because they’re white and male.

Not sure the downvoting ...

Even with 16, 32gb of ram, Android phones still don’t have buttery smooth 60 FPS while iOS has never been smoother

Re:Introducing the next generation of Mac on Tuesday November 10, 2020 @07:00PM (#25053819)
Seriously though what’s the connection between it being 2020 and there being more default RAM? Are you suggesting that in the year 2030 we should expect 100gb of RAM?

The goal shouldn’t be to increase ageing technology but to replace it with something better.

Re:Introducing the next generation of Mac on Tuesday November 10, 2020 @06:53PM (#25053736)
More ram is patch for components that aren’t hyper-optimized to work together. The whole point of what apple is doing with their own silicon is to create that optimization, thus reducing the need for excessive ram.

It’s worked for them for iPad and iPhone. Samsung et all would boast more ram but oddly enough iPhones were and remain faster

Re:Tobias Lutke still writes code for Shopify on Thursday November 05, 2020 @08:40PM (#25004035)
How is this a good thing?

All it shows is complete lack of trust and complete desire for control.

Shopify is an awful company to work for unless you’re a junior dev who likes nerding out and refactoring code over and over again.

Re:Lessons from six months at Shopify on Saturday October 24, 2020 @06:02AM (#24878130)
I worked at Shopify for a year and it was the worst year of my life.

Woefully inept people work there who suck up and miss managements ass because they don’t want to lose their perks.

Shopify is a mirage.

Yep yep and yep. But people these days “but mah bacon!”
It absolutely is. Despite the numerous attempts to #deletefacebook nothing has changed, Facebook now has ~9m advertisers compared to ~4m three years ago.

The fact of the matter is that people and businesses rely on Facebook and they won’t have the time or patience for an explanation beyond them from the governments out to get FB.

The problem in the world now is that we have long gone past eating for survival, we now eat for desire.

Anyways, go vegan.

Only EU govs have an axe to grind against Facebook because they have to not make GDPR look like a joke.

The end-users, they still want to use Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc. And they will be quiet vocal if those things stop working.

If you have a masters and your applying for an internship at Google you’re doing it wrong.

It’s literally 1000% easier to just buy an iPhone/iPod/iPad.
Considering the fact that, you know, they built the damn thing, it's entirely up to them to decide what goes in and out.
No thank you.
Re:Android Studio 4.0 on Thursday May 28, 2020 @04:12PM (#23342010)
As Apple is (trying) to move away from a behemoth Xcode, Google is moving closer to their version of it.
Re:Iranian teen shocks Magnus Carlsen to win $14k prize on Sunday April 19, 2020 @03:58PM (#22918336)
Pretty frightening that you can’t see the obvious bias.

They could and should have named the “Iranian teen” in the headline instead of glorifying Magnus as some unbeatable chess god. Not to mention that in the actual article itself the hero image is of Magnus holding a trophy. For an article about how he lost.

Get with it.

Re:Iranian teen shocks Magnus Carlsen to win $14k prize on Sunday April 19, 2020 @03:37PM (#22918226)
Agreed. Absolutely shameful
Re:Iranian teen shocks Magnus Carlsen to win $14k prize on Sunday April 19, 2020 @03:36PM (#22918225)
My favourite part is how the “Iranian teen” won the match but the first thing you see in the article is a picture of Magnus.

CNN is trash.

Re:The Octopus: An Alien Among Us on Thursday September 26, 2019 @03:07PM (#21084349)
I'd say this to my friends (literally "I believe octopi are aliens") and get laughed at.

I believe that for a lot of underwater life. Basically our oceans are a cesspool of ancient alien life that's been collecting in there for millennia
