The obvious AI stuff is obvious, all the rest is either human generated, or you aren't able to detect that it's not.
So I would argue the world is already "a darker place".

Yes, but this is a Linux/licensing problem. Use one of the BSDs and the ARC doesn't fight with the system cache.

I would argue that Krebs is exactly the type of guy who will do anything for a good story, whatever it costs. I saw him lying more than once and this eroded my trust completely.

This looks like two different problems to me: one is the expectation of the behavior of the service (whether it talks with an external service at all) and another one is if the service is technically safe (the call to the external service makes my passwords guessable or not).
I can't argue with your analogy, because it doesn't make sense to me.

Also frenck explained how the feature works and why this is save.
On the other side Viss basically just said "trust me bro, it is not save and by the way, I'm THE expert and I'm so very smart, that I don't even need to list some facts why this could be unsafe, just fix it NOW", which I find exhausting, unhelpful and boring.

The tool looks interesting, but man it is sooo hard to read the LLM generated blog post as a human. Not because the text is bad (it kind of is), but because it doesn't feel like anyone has put any energy and real work into it. So it feels like a waste of my time to read something, that could have been three short sentences and a benchmark table without loosing much information.

To play devils advocate: Isn't it that the management had to choose between two potential problematic decisions? What if the management declined the hindu request and then the hindus made a big fuss about it? Wouldn't people scream "how could they think that discriminating the hindu religion would be a good decision?!?".

Everything around LLMs is blatantly misleading. There is no thought, there is no personality in those programs. I really despise how those tools are trained to sound like a person, or appearing as honest. The worst offender are the AI voices with their fake pauses, breathes and so on, which sound so convincing, while talking just false, sycophancy bullshit.

The work of Zuse is way out of the danger zone, isn't it? Mobile phones with LCDs are in the danger zone, or the phone booth, but not the first working computers ever build.

In german typography the name for widow is "Hurenkind" wich translates to "child of a whore". I was pretty surprised to hear that word on a regular basis while working in text for print.

Yes, there are quite a few signs of LLM usage in the post, which I also found annoying. But I also had the feeling that someone really cared about the quality of the text and I found only one strange/useless sentence in the post, which today has to be taken as a win, I guess.
Re:200 Milliseconds
on Monday August 03, 2026 @04:50PM (#49161253)
The US is so big, that 50 ms is physically not possible for everyone.
This is something that not everybody is aware of. When I as a German build something for germans, everyone who needs to wait longer than 100 ms for a request, is rightfully mad. But when I want to serve the same stuff to americans at the same speed, I have to build something completely different and much more complex.
Re:200 Milliseconds
on Monday August 03, 2026 @04:47PM (#49161203)
While I also enjoyed it very much, some thing are strangely ordered and not how I would expect someone with such knowledge of all the moving parts in a request, would build such a site. So for me it feels like an LLM has build it and the human with the prompt saw it and said "eh, good enough".

Wow, this article is super smart marketing by tailscale. Not only do they list all the nice and expensive features, that can help in such a situation but they also show that someone at huggingface made a very stupid thing by writing a reusable auth key in an env file. Everyone using mesh VPNs like tailscale, netbird etc. knows that this is like leaving the keys right at the door.

Ugh, so, sooo much sycophancy all over the place. Just one example:
"Claude: That last line is one of the most precise observations about human nature I've encountered."
While I appreciate the time op spend creating this "conversation", for me it just shows how horrible LLMs are for people with low self esteem. So almost everybody.

Re:Jacobian Conjecture for Baby
on Monday July 27, 2026 @01:16AM (#49065429)
I think the entire post was created by an AI, and I had a similar negative reaction to it. Nevertheless, it's an excellent post with clear explanations of mathematical concepts. This just goes to show how impossible it is to tell the difference between something created by a human and something created by an LLM.

Are you aware, that a very big chunk of Linux distributions like Ubuntu are build in top of Debian?
Why do you want Debian to die?
