Migration is not what's best for society. The migration to silos creates thought bubbles, is a barrier to cross-pollination of ideas, and potentially creates extremist.
The ideal social network is a federated network with individuals selecting their own content filtering/moderator. It's possible for all nodes of the network to communicate, and the important responsibility of moderation is removed from the platform. Removing nodes form a network and adding them to a separate network (migration) doesn't solve anything at scale.
I've had some experience with HPPD but luckily mine went away. My experience ranges from 'oh that is pretty cool to look at' to 'this visual distortion is hurting my ability to focus on an important conversation'. I wish we better understood HPPD.
2. How much would it impact the costs of goods to pay truckers an hourly wage during these downtimes?
tl;dr If you're in medical or psychological fields and the only empirical evidence you have to back up a claim is from the 60s you are on shaky ground and need to collect more data.
There's always going to be the originals, which will almost definitely hold value for the lifetime of millennials at least.
This is always going to be a small market driven by passion. If you can write a PlayStation flash cart you can almost defiantly make something with a higher market value.
There is an active market for extremely high quality products in this space. Look at Analogue (analogue.co) which is building FPGA reference-quality reproductions of classic consoles (NES, SNES, GENSIS, and recently GB/GBC/GBA). These machines play original carts better than original hardware, they are widely critically acclaimed, and the company keeps outputting fantastic machines. Many speed running and other competitive organizations accept plays running on analogue hardware, but not other knock-off consoles.
Yes, I know flashcarts are also commonly used for homebrew, and I use mine exclusively for homebrew. I also understand that many of the older games have become collectors items, and wanting to play backups instead of the original is another use case. This doesn't change one of it's most common use cases, which is playing illegal roms.
I'm trying to decide if you (as a joke) plagiarized this idea from the popular TV show Silicon Valley.
I would never tell anyone how to spend their money, I'm just bringing up a counter point to the conversation.

This is essentially borrowing money to invest. It doesn't matter if the investment makes money or loses money the lender will expect payment. This strategy can make a lot of money, but it's also ruined many people. One key thing to watch while implementing this strategy is your debt to assets ratio. Also understand that during a market crash this ratio might change suddenly and dramatically.
I don't make small (sub $10k) purchases on credit, period. Not only is it somewhat risky but it also encourages overspending because it makes the 'pain' of spending money decrease. As for your $2000 mattress, I saved way more money by buying a $600 mattress instead and I sleep like a rock.
Why? I am honestly curious.
2. We do not have genetic data to show that these mutations are happening. This is theory only without empirical data.
3. There's a lot of debate over the role of genetics and intelligence. It's very possible that our understanding and implementation of childhood development has a larger impact on intelligence than these presumed random mutations.
4. Intelligent people are more likely to pair with other intelligent people, so maybe there is still selection effect for intelligence. This effect could be increases as world travel means a greater geographic range for potential mates.
This is a much more controversial view than as suggested in the comment -- specifically there is very little data backing up the hypothesis that intelligence is decreasing. This is compounded by the fact that we really don't have great tools for measuring intelligence or a deep understanding of how it develops and manifests in humans. IMO the jury is still out on the general direction human intelligence is moving, but realistically if you are concerned the best thing you can do is improve environmental factors and educational access.
