When I have to present in Teams I realise how much I lean on that feature in Zoom. Absolutely astonishing that it’s not a feature.

The AI generated posters everywhere did not get that memo!

IKEAs tech team are incredible.
Re:Tesla Roadster on Friday October 16, 2026 @03:12PM (#50123037)
“Configurations”

Like any of this will materialise. Where’s the original Roadster people actually put down payments on?

Re:Tesla Roadster on Friday October 16, 2026 @03:10PM (#50123020)
There was a Fan Car in F1 decades ago. Was good until it was banned!
Learning that every thought you’ve put into an LLM, is recorded and readily available for evidence is going to be interesting for a lot of people.
Well.. ATC in the north of the Uk was down today as well. Fun.
Re:216M Spy TVs – The LG Smart TV Problem [video] on Monday September 07, 2026 @04:22PM (#49602589)
They’d be like yeah no problem.

TV with smart features: $999. TV without smart features: $1,200

“A bitch to setup” - $180bn should pay for that setup problem to be less of a bitch surely.

The Mars Perseverance project cost $2.7bn to deliver. Way more of a bitch to deliver than air gapping a test env!

“Smartest of the smart” - what does that do to get its air gapped network connected to a physical network? Blackmail the admins?
Even with a single agent, why the hell was this not properly air gapped / disconnected with network monitoring in place. Definitely not adequate for anything.

This is like sysadmin 101 level stuff.

Right?? Not sure how you start a negotiation without the first move being a no.
Re:How Google helped destroy adoption of RSS feeds (2023) on Saturday August 01, 2026 @04:41PM (#49138260)
"I miss websites". Damn that hit. I realise the only place pushing me to an actual website these days are my RSS feeds (self hosted FreshRSS), and HN. Maybe very occasional share on LinkedIn.
The Jumanji “What year is it” meme 100% applies here.
Re:NotebookLM is now Gemini Notebook on Thursday July 16, 2026 @04:05PM (#48939534)
Wave. That was more of a tech preview though I guess.
Re:What was your "Oh Shit" moment with GenAI? on Friday June 05, 2026 @06:07PM (#48418986)
OMG I love this!

I was at an industry event this week. a CEO of a startup took the big board of vendors who are present, put it through an LLM. It summarised the companies he should be looking at discuss partnership opportunities with and why based on his business. Spot on.

Re:Flickr: The First and Last Great Photo Platform on Sunday April 26, 2026 @03:42PM (#47913370)
I was trying to think when I stopped browsing and using Flickr. You just reminded me.
All the references about Data Center water use were from one guy too.
Re:Artemis II crew take 'spectacular' image of Earth on Friday April 03, 2026 @08:08PM (#47634029)
Oh man. "Rolled with the D5 on my recent trip around the moon, decent performance, very light and easy to hold in zero gravity".
The way the stack is described reminded me of this masterpiece. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xE9W9Ghe4Jk
That game is AWESOME! The fact that was vibe coded is insane.
Re:Password managers less secure than promised on Saturday February 21, 2026 @06:01PM (#47105863)
Hard agree, but Average Joes have no idea what any of those words mean let alone the means to do it.
Re:UK Government Launches Fuel Forecourt Price API on Monday February 02, 2026 @06:56PM (#46864149)
Anyone able to use the API? The CSV link is dead and I cant get the API to authenticate. The Beta flag doing a lot of heavy lifting here, but I love the idea!
Re:Show HN: Anthony Bourdain's Lost Li.st's on Saturday November 29, 2025 @05:31PM (#46091421)
WUPHF
Time to decouple the UK Electricity price from Gas so we can actually reap the benefits of this as a consumer.
If the current government reversed it, the 'oh think of the children' angle from the Tories/Reform against them would be relentless. I cant say they have been amazing at messaging as it is.
Good faith LOL
Re:OAuth's Role in MCP Security on Sunday April 20, 2025 @06:13PM (#43746885)
Totally. Still getting my head around this write up but it goes into a lot of detail. https://aaronparecki.com/2025/04/03/15/oauth-for-model-conte...
The order of doing things while flying…

Arranging a reroute with ATC, explaining everything, adjusting the autopilot for the new route etc. Assessment time on what to do. Those in the back don’t need to know anything until those decisions are made and executed. It’s not like there’s a negotiation to be had!

Amazing how quick that story blew over.
