You think a propriety, not open source, terminal is going to take over Linux desktops? I’m a bit skeptical myself.

It may be for MY 2027. I know the new Bolt drops it.
With some price transparency into what companies actually pay for services such as GitHub, maybe we can find out.
Puppet has been doing this for over 15 years. Declarative config management is great and I love it. Unfortunately, it doesn't solve all administration problems as some software assumes an imperative installation or upgrade process.
Re:Nsh, a unified router style CLI for OpenBSD on Saturday April 09, 2022 @09:06AM (#30967719)
vyos would be another, though is also networking focused.
Re:Mozilla Thunderbird Beta now supports Matrix chat on Saturday April 09, 2022 @08:43AM (#30967564)
Thanks, I didn't know this was an option. Turning on now. :)
I'm not sure what this comment is meant to imply, except that Bay Area is the only place that matters?
You're likely going through a Tailscale relay when you're out of your house too. It's still an extra hop through their servers, but yes it "just works".
What is your solution for mobile clients? A quick perusal didn't show anything in the docs.

You don't have to give them time nor attention. Being snarky is giving them both, and is done precisely to increase animosity between groups.

Sure, the electorate has thus far been unwilling to increase the capacity. At the same time the private medical facilities have been underpaying, overworking, and under-resourcing our hospitals. They close rural hospitals because they're not profitable /enough/. We could have more beds, and happier staff, but then the profits would be lower.

Humans are social animals and we can most definitely have negative long term impacts from social issues at childhood.
Desalination is awesome, and I love to see it improve. No matter how good it is, it won’t be cheaper than water that is available in rivers and aquifers.

Ceph 14 was EOL on 2021-06-30. There are two major releases past v14 that don’t seem to be available through freshports. I’m not sure I’d qualify this as supported, and definitely not actively supported.

They’re touting this project as 3k permanent employees.
Akron’s reservoir is on the Cuyahoga River just North of Kent. Though this is far upstream from “catching fire” location.

I doubt socks are tasty, but please let us know.

The other difference, which parent didn’t mention, is the Ohio has plenty of water.
Re:Olvid: “the most secure messenger in the world” on Monday January 03, 2022 @12:17PM (#29783213)
Telegram has this. In fact you can only reply to specific messages as threads don’t exist.

Does it have a web browser? Then it meets the needs of most people’s computing requirements.

I gave my in-laws a Chromebook for similar reasons. Either way, most people don’t need a full Windows OS
Re:Ketamine therapy is going mainstream on Wednesday December 29, 2021 @12:35PM (#29727199)
Ketamine is legal for medical use in the US. So you’re going to miss out on the dollar this time.
I’m curious how you think the US law enforcement agencies would compel Telegram to comply.
They install touchscreens because they think people want them. The cars sell, because the only choice is touchscreens, and their decisions are validated. Rinse and repeat.
Re:Apple to Apple Comparison: M1 Max vs. Intel on Friday December 24, 2021 @09:28AM (#29673833)
These are seemingly MacOS only which doesn’t really qualify for the vast majority of data center uses. They’re here to build software for Apple devices and that’s pretty much it.
Disney is both a content provider for these channels, and is a competitor to YTTV. It probably wins either way here.
Is it really much better to have five $15 services to get the same content?
Re:Work/life balance should be difficult on Friday December 17, 2021 @12:07PM (#29594993)
Agriculture alone, or fueled by fossil fuels?
Re:This website has 81% battery power remaining on Friday December 17, 2021 @12:06PM (#29594974)
We can have both new and fewer. The current laws allowing for massive consolidation and monopoly are strangling the competitive nature of capitalism, and destroying democracy.
Re:Work/life balance should be difficult on Wednesday December 15, 2021 @06:24PM (#29572841)
Was it the specialization of labor, or the harnessing of vasts quantities of stored energy in fossil fuels? I’d wager on the latter.
