That's what, £1100 per month? How can you survive on that in an expensive city?

Disagree - drivers maintain a mental map of local stations and know roughly how expensive they are, and make a decision based on that. Obviously this API will help inform us better!

Re:UK Government Launches Fuel Forecourt Price API on Tuesday February 03, 2026 @05:40AM (#46869231)
These things are not true in the UK - all fuel is held to the same high standard, though premium variants are available too.
Re:America Is Slow-Walking into a Polymarket Disaster on Tuesday January 20, 2026 @05:32AM (#46690309)
You are ignoring the point of TFA. Kalshi & Polymarkets provide a marketplace to monetise political decision-making, a.k.a corruption. This is definitely detrimental to society.
Digital ID makes no difference to this whatsoever. If a government wanted to cut you off from utilities they could make it happen within hours already.

Same with conscription, which needless to say was invented and effectively implemented prior to the invention of digital anything.

Betting sites set their odds to maximise their revenue, not reality ;)

Polymarkets currently has him at 3%

Which of these are meant to be unbland?
"disproportionately affects men AND WOMEN" is nonsensical.

"disproportionately affects men" makes sense.

The latter is no longer true

From TFA:

> Poland—long a leading coal-mining nation—saw renewable power outstrip coal for electric generation in May, thanks to a remarkable surge in solar construction. In 2021, the country set a goal for photovoltaic power usage by 2030; it has already tripled that goal.

Is this inaccurate / missing something?

Everyone benefits from a well-read community.
Here in the UK:

Average mechanical engineer salary (mid-career) = £45k Max mortgage based on salary = ~£200k Average house price = ~£292k

-> Most people with an engineering degree cannot buy a house

It's similar in Ireland, at least amongst my elder relatives. A meal is not really a meal if it doesn't come with potatoes.
If you think the cost for supporting Ukraine is too high, wait until you see the cost of Ukraine falling and Russian tanks crossing into NATO territory :^)
Re:AI Saved My Company from a 2-Year Litigation Nightmare on Tuesday June 10, 2025 @11:47AM (#44238258)
Sane countries do not elect their judges by popular vote (or, even worse, by their executive branch), and thus judges are generally apolitical, which removes a lot of incentive for the issues you mention.

It's insane to me that the US accepts that their judiciary are either 'red' or 'blue', and that their opinions are dictated by their tribe.

You're aware it's based on a book ~10 years old?
You can build it yourself very easily for 1/3 of the price:

Re:Artificial intelligence is losing hype on Wednesday August 21, 2024 @06:37AM (#41308871)
This is a bit like saying Earth isn't big, because there are far larger planets etc. out there. For the average conversation, Earth is "big".

I have no idea what type of law you're talking about here, but (given the context of the thread) I can guarantee you major firms working on M&As are most definitely not using underpaid interns to draft those documents. They are overpaid qualified solicitors.
I have just been working through the same problem (though just PDFs). Google DocAI helped enormously after a bit of initial input.
Re:Everything About Mars Is the Worst (2017) on Monday June 10, 2024 @09:20AM (#40633351)
This comment is really poorly reasoned imo. To continue your metaphor, ancient peoples did not sail across the Pacific *, they sailed to the next nearest island and started colonies there (if viable). You could apply your logic to argue for colonising Uranus, or even the Sun.

> Two centuries in the future, the benefit of going to mars will be obvious IF the colonisation of Mars is successful (however you define that), the benefits of it MIGHT be obvious. Those are 2 huge conditionals; it may not be possible to colonise Mars, and if it is possible, we may still not be seeing any benefits in 200 years time.

*Of course, some did, but very much by exception. And it rarely ended well for these people, or their tribes, or humanity at large.

They can claim the tax back from the government when they sell it.
See the European Working Time Directive for a good example of how this can be enacted.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_Time_Directive_2003

NB a lot of employers will ask you to sign a contract self-excluding you from its protections on your first day. ("it's not mandatory, we'd just like everyone to sign it :)" )

>She's not missing out on anything

I disagree with this for 2 reasons:

1. Cousins are likely to be a mix of ages, probably your age +- 10 years. I think there's some benefit to that, especially having elder cousins that can teach you cool stuff / protect you at school / buy you beer etc.

2. You lose contact with the vast majority of friends you make at school, eventually. Cousins aren't the same, you're more likely to see them at holidays and events than your best friend when you were 5 years old.

The latest Cyberpunk update changes health items from collectable, consumable items to an item with [2] rechargeable uses that gets stronger as you play.
What currency would the government pay benefits/public sector employees' wages in?
Corporate socialism it's often called.
The fast lane is the furthest lane away from where you'd enter the motorway, therefore it's the outside lane (or so the logic goes!)
Re:2023 Nobel Prize in economics awarded to Claudia Goldin on Monday October 09, 2023 @10:57AM (#37821112)
Perhaps worthwhile to point out in this context, her work was exaggerated by others, not by herself.
