Would have been great for me because at the age of fifteen I lost complete interest in school grades. Just interested in learning.

I am not paranoid. Those symptoms have cause what could be apparented to psychosis at times, when it spiked up beyond tolerable. I am not going to expose my full case but when you have correlated neurological symptoms such as abnormal fasciculations and hearing loss in one ear amongst other things, sudden bouts of memory loss and difficulty focusing (which is abnormal for me), adding to this that one's usual hyperphantasia seems weirdly encumbered, all of which is not taken into account nor really appropriately studied... there is an issue.

This is pretty simple and clear. You on the other hand, that you establish a diagnosis off of a mere post is a strange occurence in my opinion. :)

So no. Paranoia never been one of the diagnosis I have had by the way.

Now if you know about neuro transmission, you'd know that information is transported that way. Whether via dopamine or glutamate for instance.

I don't see how being science-based is being plagued with paranoia. There are people who, given the same symptoms, would believe they are being harassed by demons... Not my case. Occam's razor.

Not quite sure what you are talking about.

Thanks for the "French" song, not my type of music but how would you know that I would understand ;) ?

Re:Neural chip decodes interactions between brain regions on Sunday October 25, 2026 @08:34AM (#50230883)
Not the one that lets you ask this kind of question, apparently. ;)

No but I have had a condition that they don't seem to diagnose properly. Not sure it is a condition for sure but I have felt the brunt and went through the system to try to get it resolved with not much success.

However, the symptoms, that I have explained in details and that they keep minimizing somehow, are plural and overlap with many.

Also you should read the science to understand how they try to address the symptoms (they are still clueless about the causes at the clinical level, not quite sure about private research).

Could also be a bout of havana syndrom, for all I know. It is not dissimilar either. The brain just processes information via neurotransimission. Brain signals could already be decoded two decades ago. Who knows what people have invented since...

They are already trying to make them outlawed... I don't like criticizing the country but the national motto's first word, there are making it nothing but a joke. Apparently you are only free to hate now, and that's if you hate the right kind of people... Bolstered by fascists united worldwide. A shame.

From experience, all mental illnesses are related and stem from change in the activation of the dopaminergic circuitry, likely at the nucleus accumbens level. It can be regulated consciously but only partially. Interoception via meditation.

Alternatively, it can be chemically shutdown/reset, the basic principle of neuroleptics. That is a coarser action though. When things hit the fan. Not nearly as much as the usual recommendations from clinicians.

For ADHD, they prescribe stimulants which make sense if we consider that the brain is searching for triggers of dopamine.

Some other conditions seem to require the opposite but this has a lot of side effects.

I think that in fact, the dopamine modulation require more fine grained handling and this is two sides of a same coin.

With allegations that are ridiculous given that everything is open source. If you are afraid of data exfiltration, just create a better sandbox.
How would that even make any sense for an open source project that people expect goodwill from?
Re:You could have invented transformers from memory on Saturday October 17, 2026 @08:12AM (#50130416)
Doesn't have to be the reader, in general "you" would not know who it refers to specifically because it really mean anyone sharing the same experience. (see what I tried to do here?) One would probably have encountered those constructions while reading though ;). Never heard 'One' in colloquial English.
Re:I know why Mathematicians weep on Thursday October 15, 2026 @01:25PM (#50107059)
It is strange, because in a sense, when you start learning math, you never explore, you are being taught. Now mathematicians were able to exercise curiosity. That is going to change. Back to the ranks of eternal learners if you will. The fun was in the research. Now I think it will leave the door open toward more Applied math. What can people do with all the discoveries. The curiosity will be there. I think it is better that way. It will also put a cap on abstractions that overlaps. In essence, AI is less likely to create new theories, coin new terminology, etc. But it is better suited to recognize emerging patterns. That will probably simplify mathematics. Unless the domain of abstraction is infinite and with each new abstraction comes its own results but I doubt it. Who knows though...

I am simply not purchasing a .si domain.

If really a new expression need to be coined, that should be something that means derived Intelligence/type II Intelligence etc. What is intelligence anyway?

It's just a weird attempt at cementing some legacy. The rest of the world is not going to go along with it.

Then again, flattering thinking machines is not too bad, ... just in case :D

oh that matches. Current admin must feel guilty/wary of something. "Best defense is attack" type of reasoning. There is no reason otherwise.

I had read somewhere that it could allow the creation of cures that would not trigger the immune system, since they would use chirality to hide, so to speak.
Re:A 40ms Go garbage collector pause caused by swap on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @06:24AM (#49976524)
Wow, thanks for that. I have been hacking creating a novel memory reclamation scheme for Go and somehow I missed that. It is similar to something I have implemented but DLG has yhe model for a TLA proof and it might indicate a possible improvement that I wasn't making.
$1/hour ? I need that deal as well.
Re:Show HN: Raven – The harness of harnesses, built for RSI on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @08:46AM (#49892276)
Interesting. Only thing, from someone who has built something similar, is that it moght tend to duplicate certain capabilities that those harnesses handle on their own. Some overlap is bound to happen.

Re:GLM Built Its Own Inference Infrastructure on Thursday September 17, 2026 @10:16AM (#49741137)
Yup. That was really short sighted. And good for China. And actually the overall global market market since supply will augment and competition will decrease pricing as well.

99.90% ;D It basically gives you the softmax value instead of using it to generate the output token. (said loosely)
That is great marketing for strix, pretty bad for baseten. I don't think someone can have a better story to advertise their own security product. Did not know about strix but I am going to look it up now. Might add it to my stack.
Re:Everyone should slow down AI development except for me on Sunday September 13, 2026 @06:01AM (#49682097)
That is what the Palantir guy (Karp) has been warning against. People/business need to keep their IP instead of throwing it all into Claude and whatnot. Risk being the worst aspects of communism which I think he meant centralization of decision, asymmetric supply/demand for compute (they lock you in), and the tech overloard Anthropic/OpenAI/xAI being in competition with everyone;s business all of a sudden with much more data. An unfair advantage in markets made super competitive all of a sudden. A winner takes all attempt.

This is not sustainable anyway, the scale at which they want to control data flows. Time was money, now data is money and they are too greedy for it.

All this agitation is just a silly attempt at constraining competition. The danger is not the AI, it is having all your systems connected. Overreliance on networked tech.

Re:Shopify moves back to Native from React Native on Friday September 11, 2026 @03:23AM (#49654699)
Yes, declarative UI is just an abstraction of imperative code. :) The rest is properties of the internal implementation. The VDOM way obfuscates the internals more. Doesn't let you control rendering appropriately. It is so because the diffing and reconciliation algorithm have to be able to remove any subtree of views/nodes from the UI tree.

Then you can only have islands of either paradigm within each other. UIKit and SwiftUI do indeed compose, albeit coarsely.

I can't blame them, they got influenced by react. Don't even blame react, it was a good attempt. Basically trying to build a UI from a snapshot of a tree. Except this is too simplistic a model. They designed it as if you could equate the number of games and the number of positions in chess. Like a markov chain. Except playing chess has side effects. A mere snapshot does not encode those.

I understand the mistake.

Re:Shopify moves back to Native from React Native on Thursday September 10, 2026 @04:45PM (#49649940)
It is virtual dom like. We don't have access to a stable underlying element like we would with plain UIKit. You can build declarative models without this virtualdomness. But SwiftUI was created during the react boom so they went with the Zeitgeist, understandably.

Now this is somewhat problematic if someone wants to implement better fine grained reactive systems. And I posit that the next paradigm is going to be in that direction given what I've been working on (furthering current reactive systems which only go halfway).

Re:Shopify moves back to Native from React Native on Thursday September 10, 2026 @11:21AM (#49645297)
Just like any engineering and business decision, this is a tradeoff. I probably don't see things from the same vantage point. Can't help but notice a trend however. What if this accelerates, especially with AI being an enabler?
Re:Shopify moves back to Native from React Native on Thursday September 10, 2026 @10:39AM (#49644515)
That would be a huge mistake if we expect many more hardware and OS running them efficiently than just iOS and Android. Best is to have an IR. Now maybe that IR can be turnt into native code. But we shouldn't be constrained. As an incoming framework author, SwiftUI is problematic for instance because it has a programming model which is dated. And I don't particularly enjoy the language either. Looked fine at first and then got more complex than I feel is needed.

oh yeah, disclaimer: I write UI frameworks and dabble in PLs.

Re:I'm going back to coding by hand on Thursday September 10, 2026 @07:11AM (#49641712)
AI still does not do pattern matching the same way my brain works. I still see things that can be improved where the AI just go with what is most common. If I nudge it, it realizes it. If I don't, I get basic software.

Just as I speak, it is reworking a UI compositor design, after I told it to use the reactive framework I have built for damage restoration, because in the end, this is a reactive problem. The implications, it drew on its own. But I had to nudge it.

Re:Muse: Meta's personal AI agent, features and capabilities on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @07:48AM (#49624932)
Not obvious from our discussions with friends or even from videos on youtube about everyone wondering how they are ad tracked.

They care but then it has been made very difficult to find privacy preserving services. Or convenience takes over.

It is like replaceable batteries. Everyone cares but we are not given the choice.

Or the headphone jack...

Re:I'm going back to coding by hand on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @06:12AM (#49624057)
Unfortunately I can't do that. My projects are too big now. In fact, this is how I deal with projects: I build the base manually and then I can iterate with AI faster once the fundamentals are solid. Sometimes the AI tends to forget those fundamentals or tries to change those and add unnecessary stuff on top. If I stay invested in what the AI is doing, I can usually spot it and nudge the AI back to sanity.

That is how I think it should be done.
