revolution, that is only option. yes, it may look overly optimistic and rosy tinted but what is the other option? be overly pessimistic, concluding that the rich won and we lost and just wait for the inevitable end?

most countries around the world still have democracy, so voting the the solution. what I don't know is how to fight populism... because that is the achilles heel of democracy... for now, spreading the knowledge is probably all we can do, people have to (and will in time) learn who can be trusted and who cannot.

but honestly I don't buy into sci-fi "AI will kill us all or enslave us" premise. that is only our anthropomorphisation of the artificial intelligence. what I see as more probably that AI could rule us in stead of the human politics that rule us now. why not have LLM political parties that could be voted? each one with open weights and transparent prompts? without emotion, corruption and greed? wouldn't that be better than current situation?

no, you don't. books are really cheap, libraries are everywhere. and you can also travel cheap, people backpack all around the world every day. sure you will still need some money, but certainly not "few hundred million dollars", that is way overblown...
Re:GPT-6.1 Terra on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @05:35AM (#50256569)
if you consider every single person that uses some LLM then sure, it is tiny percentage, but I would wage that large percentage don't write technical documentation as GP. large userbase probably don't need THE best solution for their use case and will be comfortable with A solution that is within their budget. so for them simple luna < terra < sol < astra would suffice.

but if you want to use some LLM agent for anything commercial and you want to get the best and at the same time you don't want to overpay the easiest and the surest would be to create your own benchmark for your specific use case.

Re:Switzerland. Block by block. At 1:1 scale on Monday October 26, 2026 @09:24AM (#50243230)
Art is subjective, you not liking it doesn't mean it is bad. You just do not like it and that is ok.
sure, that is true, but that is what I'm saying. if AI will take over intellectual work and robots manual work (in the future) then our current system will have no other option than completely change.
sorry I honestly don't understand what you meant (english is not my first language). do you imply that person needs few hundred million dollars to live? because if so I don't agree, you really don't need that much money to be happy. sure I'm living a comfortable life from money I earn, but I could live will far far less money and still be happy.
Re:Where the Romans Fought (interactive map) on Monday October 26, 2026 @08:46AM (#50242704)
and what is problem with that? isn't it 100x better than just an idea? it is opensource, it's a nice proof of concept that can be built on.
The meaning you're looking for is living, enjoying life. We already have more books anyone could ever read in a lifetime. Same with movies, tv shows, documents or games. You have whole planet to travel around and explore. You have few billions of humans you can interact and socialize with... I really do not understand why so many people are afraid of not working... meaning of my life was never to work for someone, that was always only means to finance my life.
I has no idea about the latin word cacare... In Slovak "to poop" is kakat...
Re:How the Claude Code team does code review on Friday October 16, 2026 @03:35PM (#50123407)
The premise is clear, is one agent can do what developer can, but quicker, why not speed up the whole workflow to match it?
Re:Mistral Large 4 on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @09:23AM (#49992476)
Do you have any official guidelines what jokes are people allowed to funny and which are not?
New car is always a big investment, second hand is the way. 25k car will be even cheaper in few years.
Re:Toyota is finally taking its best-seller electric on Friday September 25, 2026 @07:02AM (#49842812)
Sure, give me an app that communicated directly with the car without the need to through manufacturers cloud and I'll be fine with it.

Re:Reverse Engineering My ADHD Test on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @06:25AM (#49520095)
ADHD is not a disease; it is disorder. People with ADHD are differently wired in their brain, you cannot cure it like you can disease.
Re:Headlong: A Microharness for Persistent Agents on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @06:50AM (#49431704)
You can always read the script file (orm ore realistically feed it to agent). If they distributed appimage or rpm would that be safer anyhow? Cannot it run malitious code same as the script would run?
What are these videos supposed to do? I watched few of them and it does nothing for me?

if it is targetting visual regions of brain and I have aphantasia (I cannot visualize anything in my mind) is that connected?

Re:The future of Flipper Zero development on Monday July 06, 2026 @07:13AM (#48803128)
I know Guild Wars had original idea in the era of "lets make new world of warcraft and get rich from subscriptions" to release mmorpg without any subscription, you only buy it once and you can play forever. It was 2005.
Re:Qualcomm Linux 2.0 on Thursday July 02, 2026 @04:55AM (#48758464)
someone who doesn't want apple experience? I really don't need "art" computer if I'm not able to do what I want on it.
Re:strace-ui, Bonsai_term, and the TUI renaissance on Tuesday June 02, 2026 @04:16AM (#48367414)
You've answered yourself if fourth paragraph. For me (and guessing for many other engineers) usability is more important than crisp visuals..

I personally prefer same font (one I choose) everywhere opposed to "whichever font developer likes for his app).

TUI apps are quick, efficient, portable and usable through ssh. If crisp graphics is the only downside I really don't mind.

Re:Darkbloom – Private inference on idle Macs on Thursday April 16, 2026 @05:44AM (#47790814)
Isn't this same premise as "lets buy few GPUs to mine crypto and have passive income"? It didn't work very well and it probably won't work now either. If there is money to be made, bigger players will get in there, buy out all mac minis they can, drive price up for regular people and inevitably drive inference price down so you'll be lucky to get initial investment back
Re:Making WebAssembly a first-class language on the Web on Thursday March 12, 2026 @07:48AM (#47349327)
I personally hate that I need to download app from every company for every service they offer. On the other hand I love tje simplicity of opening webpage, do what I want to do there and forget it. Probably 80% of app in my phone are used very rarely, often just once yet they still sit there, getting updates, requesting permissions and sometimes eating battery... good web app can do everything native app can.
Re:I built Timeframe, our family e-paper dashboard on Monday February 23, 2026 @03:07AM (#47119417)
You have to imagine other people might think differently than you do... I forget, it happens, nothing I can do with it. Having notification on my phone (place I'll look sooner or later) that laundry is done was great lifehack for me. No longer I forget and leave it there for whole night or even days...
You need ID to buy cigarettes and alcohol, prescription drugs or to get sim card... you will need it to register for social network account... do not seem as big of a deal to me. Even less when considering all the positives.
Re:Using TypeScript to Obtain One of the Rarest License Plates on Thursday December 18, 2025 @01:17PM (#46316388)
Punishment is only one reason of inprisonment, another is correction. Majority of prisoners do not serve lifetime sentence, at some point they wikl return to society and ideally you don't want them to get right back to what they have been doing before because they have no other options or they don't know nothing better.
Re:Self-hosting my photos with Immich on Saturday December 06, 2025 @07:09AM (#46172699)
NixOS is open-source, if needed it can be forked anytime and continued to work on with new maintainers.
But tou don't have to pick one, you can have both. I pay for gamepass and most of the games I play I'm fine not owning them ever. But when any is worth it, I purchase is on steam and can have it forever. And I really don't mind "paying twice" because the game is worth it.

Really love this project, I only have small little UX nitpick: as lefthanded person it is quite cumbersome to tap right side of screen. Go to solution is to navigate using swiping which is ambidexterous.
Re:Life as Slime on Saturday June 21, 2025 @07:28PM (#44341496)
Life on Earth would be perfect ecosystem without human. Sure lion eats zebra but there are no animal species capable of eradicating other species. my (very amateurish) opinion is that "high inteligence" is very effective and successful short term genetic strategy (it allowed very average mammal species to become absolute apex predator) but long term it is very unsustainable and self destructive. Look at the lion, apex predator in his environment and it is completely content. People are never content, always need more and more. We are intelligent but so bored that we spend most of our time finding out new ways to kill or at least hate each other.

yea, I'm not a big fan of Humanity...
