Re:DRY is an over-rated programming principle? on Thursday July 07, 2022 @04:12AM (#32011189)
WRONG. OOP is the most over rated
Kubernetes isn't a solution. It just pushes the problem down the line. Fundamental problem is most software developed these days aren't packaged properly. The devs just ship the code to production. The hacks that they used to get the development going stays in production.

For example, you don't need a docker container to deploy Mysql, although you can deploy Mysql inside one. But most development processors are so badly managed that one product has many conflicting libraries and dependencies. Eventual requiring each component to be isolated within its own container. Finally leading to an unmanageable number of containers requiring Kubernetes to manage the mess.

Most jobs done need to exist to begin with.

Re:Ask HN: Why is software quality always decreasing? on Tuesday January 11, 2022 @10:13PM (#29901832)
newer tech allows lower skilled developers to build programs. Which in turn leads to more tech to dumb things down even more. Resulting in more inefficient programs overtime.
Re:Is Web3 a Scam? on Sunday January 09, 2022 @05:40AM (#29862117)
Yes! and so is anything based on blockchain
I did it once. Did absolutely nothing of value for 8 months and went back to work. I had savings so I was ok financially. Mostly played games and watched movies. Traveled a bit. Didn't realize I needed it until I was doing it.

I think I will do it every 5 years of work.

Re:Difference between DevOps, SecOps and DevSecOps on Wednesday August 04, 2021 @08:22AM (#28060130)
These are temporary job titles since most of the IT work these days comprise of gluing things together. I think these types of jobs will vanish with in the decade due to platforms like Microsoft's power platform or dynamics 365.
Most people working in the AI field are completely ignorant to the underlying mechanisms. They just hack together some code from github and feed some data in. Just because you get an output doesn't mean its even remotely accurate.

Anyone who does understand the underlying mechanisms are probably still trying to clean the data sets.

Re:CDC Internal Delta Variant Presentation on Friday July 30, 2021 @02:45AM (#28005147)
Those values are for a 100,000 people, If you do the calculation for the people not affected

99.9785% of vaccinated are not infected 99.8714% of un-vaccinated are not infected

99.9999% of vaccinated are not hospitalized 99.9975% of un-vaccinated are not hospitalized

99.99996% of vaccinated are not dead 99.99904% of un-vaccinated are not dead

This is such a small difference.

Any sort of containerization is for people who don't know how to properly package software.
Nope. Only use a TKL with Vim and Tmux. I don't actually use the mouse during coding now that I think about it
